    No, not really.
    The US Plug is tiny.
    The UK Plug is huge.

And the UK Plug is a landmine.

Only ATX connector is different, rest is the same.

So you can use all but the ATX connector between Type 3 and Type 4 Corsair things...

That's a stupid idea because in a car the nominal voltage when the generator is running is aroudn 14V, not 12.
And its very noisy as well. so you need something that cleans the shit up that is thrown around in the car.

That is why you woulrn't recommend a "Pico PSU" for RV duty!!
Those seem like a viable option, though pricey...
And a bit heavy on the +5V rail...

At least they seem to clean up the shit from the primary side...

Stefan Payne got a reaction from Ben17 in Which Psu for threadripper build
I don't see any reason for an 850W PSU, much less 1000W PSU.
If you are talking about sledgehammer overclocking, you might want that, yes.

But if we are talking about using the components in spec (you can't overclock your Ryzen anyway):
a 550W would be more than enough!
Even for a Threadripper with 1080Ti.

So you should look at the lower range of PSUs.

    Not true.
Ryzen CPUs do support ECC and use it.
    The Ryzen APUs do not.

They have done it where they have and it doesn't seem like there were no problems for them, why switch to another venue they've never seen, they've never worked with they don't know how well it will work, when they already have something that works well for them??

The only reason for them to switch is if they need more space.

Stefan Payne got a reaction from TechyBen in Discussion - Why does Intel still have iGPU on high end?
No, the price is arbitrary, just look at the equally sized Ryzen CPU, wich cost up to 1/4th of that.
That would only increase the Profit for Intel, wich also might lighten the Availability Problems they have right now

you ask a Price and if people are willing to pay it, for whatever reason, that's what you use. Maximize Profit with minimal effort...

No, its because they need them for the mobile SKUs that have an i9 CPU but no dGPU or some switching thing that isn't implemented in Desktop (yet).

As said, the Price wouldn't change because the Production cost are only a frection of what Intel Asks.
Its highly likely that the manufacturing of an i9-9900K might cost less than 100€ and its the same throughouth all SKUs with the same die anyway.

Also why bother when People are willing to spend the "Intel Premium" anyway?? Makes no sense to reduce the prices when people are buying your stuff like crazy.

Yes, obviously as Seasonic is better, because there is Seasonic printed on the Label. How can you not see that!!111

And everyone on the Interwebs tells that Seasonic is the best of the best of the best. Obviously they are right
    /s

Yeah, Seasonic isn't that great, the Focus has some issues with some GPUs that other designs, even ~10 year old 750W FSP Resonant LLC units have not...

Why do you keep claiming this FUD, even after you were told many times that its a false statement?!
And you now knowingly spread false Information.

Even Seasonic stated at least one other GPU that causes Trouble -> ASUS 970 Strix.
And there is also the MSI 1080ti, wich causes the Bitfenix Whisper M 550W to switch off for example.

Why should this card NOT cause issues with other PSU with their Transients??

    Here a Thread about that:
    http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?16238-Seasonic-officially-reacts-to-the-GPU-compatibility-issues&highlight=Seasonic

SEASONIC even admitted that the ASUS GTX 970 Strix also has possible compatibility Issues.

Here a Posting from The Mask, wo says that some 1080ti Cards are also affected:

Here another Posting about it, also stating quite some high end Cards.

    Here the User mentioned:
    https://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/view_message/55950581
There are multiple cards affected and can cause potential issues, not just VEGA; every high(er) end GPU can be problematic!

Claiming that its just VEGA is just incorrect and you know it, I've told you many times, yet you keep claiming its only VEGA.
I have to ask, why you keep claiming that its only VEGA?!

Why do you keep defending Seasonic so vehemently?!

Even I am not that qualified and know that I only write Marketing stuff for PSU but the things I can rate I will. And I will be harsh if something is really messed up - like a fan starting/stopping every other second. Especially since it has a Sleeve Number and no other "Imprint" (ie FDB written over the label but even then. For a 2BB I'd not be as harsh).

So yeah, without an electronic load, Reviews in General of PSU are rather useless and can only tell you the noise of the PSU.

You don't understand what Protections are for.
Its the same with Seatbelts and Airbags in cars. You don't need it for normal operation.

    OTP you need for:
    a) fan fails
    b) intake obstructed
    c) fan obstructed

Or you rather have your PSU catch on fire, because some components are already rated for 175°C or more. And can also be  way hotter than that.
The Transformer can overheat, dust or the carpet can catch on fire.

    Yeah, absolutely NOT important...

In Jonnyguru someone posted pictures of an old Delta unit that desoldered itself because the fan failed...

Same with other protection features. They are there to protect against faults, not needed for normal operation.

    Of course they are...
Because its already heated in france, if there might even be the possibility of arson (or they outright say it), there is a good chance it starts a civil war.

I think Styx said as much as well, that we might eventually get to know what really happened in a couple of years (or rather decades)...

France is already censoring news about the Yellow Vest Protests that are still happening...

I'm not saying that its arson, I'm saying that the French Gouvernment has to say its not arson at this point in time to not escalate the situation over there further.

Right now, depending on where you live, I'd look at Vega sales as well. They are rather cheap right now and can be obtained for like 300€ for VEGA 56, if you're lucky, you can get a 64 for 400€.

Stefan Payne got a reaction from Royal_Commander_BE in New rx 580 dead?
    Yep, it is.
And THAT is what the Warranty is for.

Because of the difficulty of the manufacturing process there can be some cards that don't show any issues within the factory but have some minor mistakes, either bad etched traces or bad soldering joints because of bad moonshine or something else could either get loose or die within a couple of hours.

That is totally normal and nothing to worry about. It just sucks to be the one withthe "Monday's Component".

So just contact Amazon and ask for a replacement. That shouldn't be an issue. Every dealer should suspect a couple of "dead on arrival" components...

Though the 2700 is faster, 100€ or so isn't really worth it (Assuming you're not talking in Down Under or Maple Dollars)

The 3600 is, allegedly, faster or close to the 2700 in multi core applications and the MSRP is 199 USD...

Anyway, for gaming, I'd wait for the 3000 series and get one of them over all last gen Ryzen.

Definitely listen to this guy!!! He helped me wih 2 builds and mine was the 9600k. I could not be more happy with it. It's smooth and the build runs everything I throw at it easily. I can also verify that it does beat my friend's build with an 8700 and the same graphics card, but why anyone would think otherwise to begin with seems odd to me. The 9600K can go to 5ghz and the 8700 is stuck at 4.3 or something like that

    Both use the same Architecture.
    The 9600K is 6C/6T
    The 8700 is 6C/12T.

At the same frequency, its impossible for the 9600 to beat the 8700, it needs higher frequency.
And it might look OK now but "the future" will shine for the 8700 because it simply can use more resources.

Because a decade ago 6C CPUs weren't available for consumer friendly prices.
See that's the same Argument as back in the day when people were arguing Core 2 Duo E8x00 vs. Q9550 or Phenom 2 X4...
It looked like that was true back in the day but whoever went 4 Cores had a lot more years to use their system.
Same with 4C/4T vs. 4C/8T. The ones with 8 Threads are still fine today, the 4Thread people are not.

    https://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/3407-intel-i5-9600k-cpu-review-vs-2700-2600-8700k
That proves that there are some issues with the 9600K _RIGHT NOW_. Some kind of hangs/Stutter in the Far Cry 5 Diagram. So the 8700 he chose initially was the better choice...
In AC: Origins, the 9600K is around  53fps 0.1% Low, the 8700K at 70.7fps

The 9600K is simply a replacement for the i5-8600K. Why should he buy that when he can have the 8700(K)??? The 8700K is above the 8600/9600...
In Cinebench (best case for Multi Core), we are talking about 137,7 Single Core and 1042 Multi Core Score. The 8700K has 158,6 Single Core and 1429 Multi Core. SO around +40% in well multithreaded applications.

    There is also another Option:
Get the cheapest CPU you are comfortable with for AM4 that the store has (and works with your Motherboard) and use that for a bit more than 2 Weeks and replace the CPU then.
It might sound weird but from what we do know right now AM4 has a better upgrade path and might evensupport the 4000 series that is said to come next year.
And you've seen the pace AMD has started with. Compare Ryzen 1k -> 2k -> 3k.
    There was always 5-10% more - at mimimum. Even from 1k -> 2k (ie 1700 -> 2700)

So that leaves you with 3 Choices:
    a) go with Ryzen 3000, buy a small CPU (either Athlon 200GE or Ryzen 1200, maybe Ryzen 1300X), upgrade ASAP. An Athlon 200GE is around 55€ on Newegg Canada. You should be able to sell that for at least 30€, probably 40-45€ - and also mention that you can use it to flash 400 Series Boards.

    b) speculate on Ryzen 4000 series, upgrade next year when its released, get a decent mid range/cheapish CPU such as the Ryzen 2600 or 2700 and upgrade next year.

    c) stick with Intel, though no upgrade path. You get what you buy and the next generation is probably incompatible to the Socket - same as the 8700 was to 100 and 200 series Chipset Boards! For no reason as the Socket is physically the same and people were able to hack the BIOS of 100 and 200 Series and there is also a Video from Linus with 8700 and 7700 on the same Board.
