1. You need a good quality PSU! Wattage is secondary. Where you live, what's available? What are you planning on getting??
2. Its just ancient Knowledge that got obsolete because technology changes. That might have been the case at some point in time or rather assumed... But with newer technologys and different topologys for PSU, that claim just got obsolete. Its the same with Caps. Back in the day, it was true that you look for the voltage and Capacitance and that is the important. Today the Capacitance and voltage is the least important measure. With Capacity you can go at least one or two numbers up or down, the Important measure is the Impedance today...
3. 8 HDD aren't that hard. Done that with some of the PSU I have... Staggered Spinup helps enormously though...
4. Problem is: You either have to get an X570 Board or know someone who has an older Ryzen CPU to flash the BIOS - or get a Board that can be flashed without CPU.
5. Link doesn't work for me You mean this one? https://www.computerbase.de/2015-10/350-watt-netzteil-test-lc-power-xilence-sea-sonic-super-flower/3/ Well, essentially its a cost down version. You can argue its even worse as it just dies in the Overload Test (3,3V is DC-DC and still no OCP)...
6. If you already have it, you should know how good it runs, don't you? If its enough for you, its fine. YOU have to live with it. I only have an L5640...
7. Nothing because its a 10 year old Architecture. So todays 4 Core are about as good as those... And the Boards for it are rediculously expensive so that you hardly save much to modern Yeah, on Paper, but the 1600 has better "IPC", than even Sandy Bridge gets beaten with it... So I'd say the 1600 is probably 25-50% faster at the same clock than the 5670, it really didn't age too well.
8. Ähm... The Consoles have some serious disadvantages... Be it rules for what can or can not be in Games, wich Sony pushed recently, total Paywall for Online Play (XBox) or other things. For example banning your entire account for saying a naughty word (XBox but from what I heard Sony does the Same, no idea about Nintendo)... Even though -- Playstation and Switch have some interesting Games that you can't play anywhere else. What you chose is up to you but getting a Game Console without any Games for it doesn't make sense. Is there something I don't like on Swtich? Hell, yeah. For example the awfully slow download rate wich seem to cap out at around 25MBit/sec... Sony I mentioned above, the Censoring of games, that goes as far as banning such simple things as a Head Pat in the new Ookami to Koushinryou VR game. Do I want to support that? Hell, no! Another Thing to consider: Some Japanese Games might be cheaper on a Japanese Console, for whatever reason.... Only seen it for Tales of Vesperia (~7€ more on Steam), some Koei Tecmo Warriors titles (29,99€ on PC, 17€ elsewhere)... The XBox 360 was nice, had some good games, the One, well, why should I get the Console?? Phil Spencer looks like a good, competent guy who knows what he's doing (and he should stop emphathising how he's a gamer.) but he had to work with the Dumpsterfire that Marc Whitten left him with. How it looks next gen? No idea, we have to wait for next year and look what M$ does. But with Spencer at the rudder, one can be hopeful. This Generation is Lost for the XBox.. ..wich is why M$ stopped talking about XBox One sales.
9. What is "Crose Plattforming? Besides that, here another PS5 Speculation Thread: No, that's Backwards Compatibility and the ability to play old games on the new console. THe new PS5 might actually be powerful enough for PS3 Games. Sony always allowed to play with PC, see Final Fantasy XIV... As for GiB: That's the official SI unit for power of 2. GB means power of 10. So 2GB means 2.000.000.000 Bytes 2GiB means 2.147.483.684 Bytes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibibyte
10. In that case you can save on the CPU and prepare for Zen2 with the right Board... Well, according to System Integrators, the zen Launch was splendidly and had little to no issues. THe only thing that was "problematic" was Memory Compatibility, but that was fixed with BIOS Updates or a different, known good Memory Stick. As said, Zen2 should work on most B450 and X470 Boards, B350 and X370 are so so, depends on the Manufacturers (and "Peer Pressure"/leaning on the Board Manufacturers. There already was a shitstorm on MSI, wich might caused them to offer a non supported use at your own risk BETA BIOS for zen2) The 9600K is the modern day E8600 that look nice right now but there are a lot of sings that its not a good product in the long term. Especially since the next generation of Consoles will feature 8 Core CPUs with probably 16 Threads (and probably 7/14 usable), wich will make the death of the 9600 even quicker beginning next year... And yes, Consoles are what lead the Development of Games as many modern games have to run there.
11. I'm not looking it up, only over the thumb: ~200€ for CPU ~170€ GPU ~60€ nVME with 50GiB -~70€ for the Board ~60€ PSU ~70€ Memory ----------- 630€ without Case, OS and Input Device. That answers the Question? Keyboard/Mouse looks like some 20€ Crap: https://www.amazon.com/Rainbow-Backlit-104-Key-Keyboard-Computer/dp/B079F1BG1P/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=CUKUSA&qid=1559785421&s=electronics&sr=1-3 So basically: If you can, wait a month. If not, get a good quality, mid range B450 or X470 Board, a Cheap CPU and replace it next month or so with a Ryzen 3000 one. You need the CPU anyway, so maybe an Athlon 200GE. You can see for example: The Board Manufacturers are pushing out a shit ton of really high end X570 Boards (wich are rather expensive. Around 200€ for cheaper ones). That looks like they believe in the Sucess of Zen2 and think that there is demand for highest end Boards! Keep in mind, back in the Kaveri Days, the most expensive Board was ~100€. Right now the most expensive is ~250€ or so. With X570 the most expensive Boards are at 777-1000€ (Water Cooled) or more.
12. You do know that Ryzen 3000 series is coming next month and you're really pushing people onto knives, even though what we know right now sounds pretty good?? And what when the Ryzen 3600 for just 200€ "creams" the 9600K??? Especially since in less than a week the next AMD Event is, with more Information about both NAVI and Zen2, wich, allegedly, both are released on the 7th of July...
13. PC is always the question and I don't see a Console as an Alternative but an Addition to the PC that allows you to do something you can't do on PC for whatever reasons. For example Super Mario Odyssey. You are comparing apples <-> Oranges. And comparing Ultra High or maxed Out Settings on PC vs. Low to medium on Consoles. 4K on Consoles doesn't run particularly with similar... Again, you're wrong, here a video to prove it: The RX580 is able to do 30fps at Ultra in 4k - similar to the Higher End. The 60fps mode cuts down the Quality dramatically... So the Machine I mentioned above is totally able to do 4K similarly or better than the high end Consoles... It seems like you really overestimate the Performance of the Consoles... And what advantage does the XBox have, even if we discard the Exclusives of the Consoles? no support for Bluetooth Headsets (PS4 has, Switch sadly does not) have to have XBox Gold for every online activity And before you mention it: The XBox doesn't support HDMI CEC wich allows the Console to switch on the TV (both PS4 and Switch do that) or other way around and also support for Controlling the Console with the TV Remote (since PS3). And due to Power Consumption, the higher end Consoles are not useful for Media either. Both are at 60-80W in Media Playback - my Ryzen 2400G is at 20-30W and a real Media Player probably even less than that (some have a PSU rated for 30W)... So that only leaves gaming... So why should I buy the Console where i have to pay for all online activity and don't have any Exclusive? The last one: https://store.steampowered.com/app/976730/Halo_The_Master_Chief_Collection/ And its not even that good compared to other, modern games. I rather play Division than MCC... The Games I mention were only an example. There is a ton of Games you can play on Playstation but not on XBox. And they are all rated extremely high on Metacritic (User Score!) https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/ratchet-clank https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/blood-truth https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/gravity-rush-2 https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/detroit-become-human https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/until-dawn https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/bloodborne https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/dragon-quest-xi-echoes-of-an-elusive-age (<- although on PC and on Nintendo or coming there) https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/persona-5 https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/horizon-zero-dawn https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/marvels-spider-man https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/god-of-war <- Game of the Year https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/the-last-of-us-remastered I don't like some of them and its just not my cup of tea but they all have really high user Ratings. And there is this: https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/death-stranding Though I don't know what Death Stranding is about and if its any good. We have to wait and see. You don't know that because you haven't experienced it. Would you have said that 2 Analogue Sticks are the Duck's Gut back in the early 90s?? And yes, a (small) Display on the Controller is really really awesome... Problem of the WiiU wasn't the Pad, it was the Console itself and the weak Hardware + rediculously high price. I didn't Mention it but I also have a WiiU with the Tablet. And I always liked the Display in the Gamepad... Though it was a big too big. a 2-3" Screen is good enough. Basically the size of the PS4 Touchpad... They died out because of the same reason RTS Games died out: They were complicated, you needed to learn to play the game and remember the Button Actions and because people moved to other Genres. Yep, it is. Its so awesome that Nintendo adoptet it the next chance they got. Its so awesome! You might not do screenshots but Nintendo thought it is a good enough feature to implement that immediately as soon as possible. For it to make sense you need to have an already existing XBox 360 Libary. Most of the Games are on PC anyway. So why get it on XBox? And they don't look too good, play weird in some cases as well... No, I don't. I mention them as EXAMPLES, I never said that you have to play them I said that you miss out on them. Nope, that's just one of the factors. There are other Features you miss as well. The Online Pay, Support for Bluetooth Headsets. The Multimedia stuff is nonsense on either Console, they are all equally useless and have Problems with Subtitles and consume just way too much power. Every standard TV is better for Playing Media... Yes, they can, because you are overestimating the Performance of the Consoles and forgetting the settings that the Consoles use. They don't use Ultra or Max out, they are somewhere in the middle. And I've shown that the RX580 is able to do 4K in Forza Horizon 4 with more than 30fps - same as the XBox One X. And they are limited to 30fps. Both are. 4k will be viable with next gen Consoles! This gen are pretty meh on 4K! And it also depends on the Game. Assasin's Creed Origins doesn't run too well on the PS4 PRO on 1080p. Its OK, but it shows that the Software needs to be heavily optimized for the Consoles... ...wich neither Console can do. You'll be happy if they do 30fps without any issues. But you still have to live with small drops. Even at 1080p both Consoles hardly do 60fps at all. Most Games are limited to 30fps. No Problem. And I have PC and all Important Consoles. Right now: PS4 PRO; Xbox One X, XBox 360 (bought it myself, new back in 2010 or so), PS3 Slim, WiiU, Switch, New 3DS XL and a PC, wich right now is a Ryzen 7/1700X with Vega64. But there is no comparisation in performance between the Consoles and a PC. Because we're talking about 30fps on the Consoles vs. 60fps on PC. Some, rare, games have a 60fps mode but most do not and the details are strongly reduced... I still have my RX480/8GiB, if I feel like it, I put it in my Kaveri System and bench a bit...
14. Well, until then, the CPU Die looks a bit different... Because they will either be in "6nm" or even "5nm", wich is already in the Works. The Differences are smaller than 14nm -> 7nm but they are still there. But then again, the real question is: Does the I/O Die have 3 IF Interfaces or does it top out at two? That's the real question... With DDR-5 SDRAM, maybe possibly. Because they need a new I/O Die. But with Ryzen 4000 I bet they'd still be using the same I/O Die as Matisse. Agree. Even the new, rumored "Low cost HBM" with only 512bit with would be better than nothing. Though it goes back to Sidechannel of the good old AMD 78xG and 790GX that was used in like 2 or 3 Boards (I have one of those)... But with HBCC it can be hidden from the software that the GPU has some "Buffer Memory"... Yeah, because of the Power/Current Requirements of the PHY; you can't shrink them much these days. HBM I believe still is shrinkable because that is basically an on chip connection that requires very little power compared to other interfaces that go off the chip or, worse, over a connector. That's the main reason we don't see no upgradable GPU Memory. Because its just not possible/viable... The Question of 12nm vs. 14nm is a question of Cost. When 12nm becomes a bit cheaper than 14nm, they will switch to it, if it doesn't, they will stick to 14nm.
15. Yeah, more than. Though 1200W for a 300W PC?? (OK, more like 350W, maybe)
16. How about looking at this Thread: You see going by brand is the reason why such pretty bad units can still exist. And because of Recommendations that say "ah, just get a Corsair/Seasonic"... Though Corsair at least works on Protection... He asked us for advise and why not just recommend the right one in the first place?! I mean the Name of the unit doesn't cost you much more time... And also try to think about the other side, that fights against Misinformation and bad advise. How would you react the 25th time someone did something bad that was obvious to you, in your field (whatever that is). See, its the same with us and "going by Brand". Brand means nothing. Especially in the PSU Business! Everyone that is competent (and has the money) is able to make awesome units. Proven by the latest Bitfenix units. And everyone that doesn't care or lacks competent doesn't do too good of a job. Seasonic and EVGA are such examples. Especially in the lower end. AX is Titanium, Gold and Platinum are EOL. HX is also Platinum only and rahter pricy because of that. So that leaves the RMx... a) Ancient, released in 2013 IIRC b) loud as hell at around 300W Load or so (and with loud I mean 2000rpm) c) The "Ketchup and Mustard" Cable are According to ATX Spec, but no, it doesn't. It came with black Flat Ribbon Cables. d) there are better things for the money that aren't as unbearable loud for higher end machines... and even the Higher End are "sub-standard", compared to what other companys do. Where's the point in getting an EVGA when its just a random 08/15 Standard unit without anything they do to make it their own?! I doubt EVGA does more than Badge Engineering because that's how it looks for people that are interested in PSU. That they just take some random unit and put their label on it and call it a day. Oh and some Marketing Bullshit here and there... Ironically those are better than the Seasonic you threw at the Wall, see above... Even the VS is better than the S12II-Bronze up to 620W and the CX slaps it left and right... Your info is obsolete.... TX is pretty good and better than most EVGA...
17. Look at the old List. It looks rather old, but it seems somewhat OKish, Ripple over 60mV so not great (According to "Sources" that increases failure rates in Mining enviroments).... Besides that, it doesn't look tooo bad... Though its a bit older... Here a Review: https://www.hardocp.com/article/2014/11/10/thermaltake_toughpower_1200w_gold_power_supply_review/
18. Yes, because if I have to deal with long boot times, lack of Controller design and Backward compatibility Issues, then I can also get a PC. Because that's all the disadvantages of a PC. Yes, and? You could have gotten a PC, as there are a couple of guides for cheap PCs on this site or you could have gotten NOT the XBox and a Playstation 4 or Switch instead. Its not like there aren't better alternatives to the XBox that make more sense and offer you more games to play. Super Mario Odyssey is pretty nice as is Octopath Traveller or Horizon Zero Dawn, Marvel's Spider-Man... Yes and thus it makes sense to get the one that offer you the most games that you couldn't play before... Then we'd still have something like the Gravis Gamepad or similar stuff. And consoles are the place where you CAN innovate because you force the Controller onto everyone buying this specific console and with that you can add new, interesting features. You can't do that on PC, especially these days... People probably don't know what a Thrustmaster or CH-Flightstick really was... And back in the day games that supported those were not as good without it. Infamous Second Son has nice motion controls for example for the Spray Mini Game. But here we also have the Problem that because M$ doesn't support it, its not in many games... 360 Pad has a really awful D-Pad and the One has the Trigger buttons that are one part and, as said, no innovation. The only thing M$ Added in ~20 Years since they entered the Console Market were Trigger Vibrators... Chicken <-> Egg Problem. Because M$ doesn't have it, nobody does it or rather you can only do it in Exclusives. For example use the Touchpad the PS4 has. Its used in Killzone Shadow Fall for example. But also some other Games as well. LOL, That's what was not uncommon gack in the day: http://isometricland.net/keyboard/keyboard-diagram-star-wars-x-wing.php?sty=15&lay=1&fmt=0 Later it went to something like this: http://isometricland.net/keyboard/keyboard-diagram-star-wars-x-wing-alliance.php?sty=15&lay=1&fmt=0 Hey, why not use this and be happy with it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravis_PC_GamePad Or that one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Nintendo_Entertainment_System Or what about that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paddle_(game_controller) If it ain't broke, why the hell would you fix it? Well, because you have the ability and power to use it... Back in the day you didn't... Today you are not limited by technology, only by the unwillingness to do it. Because the most advanced Controller was this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_U_GamePad And yes, it was a bit too ambitious but it shows you what can be done. And it isn't even the first console with a Display... Nope, the Dual Shock 4 is completely new, redesigned. And also features something the XBox has not but the Switch does: A Screenshot Button. Then use the Cable that hte Controller came with, also works. Though only in Steam Games. The PS4 Controller works in more games out of the Box and there are even a couple of XInput Wrapper as well. Bluetooth is used in the 2nd Revision (=ugly) XBox One Controller without shiny on top but also Dual Shock 4, Switch, Wii, WiiU That was one of the DLC for Blue Dragon and you need the 360 to use the Money in your M$ Account, for example because you got a Gift Card... Yeah, the usual argument from the XBox users... Oh yeah, chosing one old Game that you can play on a 60€ device that runs the same on the normal One S makes more sense than chosing a different console that would allow to play a couple more games that you can't play anywhere else... ...of course not... Especially if you don't have to pay for it on other Plattforms... And what makes it better than Switch or Playstation 4?? Oh wait, the Price is lower used because nobody wants it. That's why I got my XBox One X: Nobody wanted it and it wasn't sold after a Month or so... (and also hardly used, HDD had only 200h on it) And how is that an Argument for the XBox and agains the other two? naa, if you know where or what to look for, its not that hard. You can do something decent for ~500€ for example: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD - Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor €84.89 @ Amazon Deutschland Motherboard MSI - B450M GAMING PLUS Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard €77.99 @ Amazon Deutschland Memory Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory €52.73 @ Mindfactory Storage Crucial - MX500 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive €66.75 @ Amazon Deutschland Video Card Sapphire - Radeon RX 570 8 GB PULSE Video Card €147.84 @ Mindfactory Case Cooler Master - MasterBox Q300 MicroATX Mini Tower Case €39.90 @ Caseking Power Supply be quiet! - System Power 9 500 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply €50.94 @ Amazon Deutschland Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total €521.04 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-06-05 12:42 CEST+0200 That's just not true. The GPU inside the PS4 PRO and XBox One X is comparable to the RX580, wich is around 150€ with 4GiB, 8GiB at 170€ Or how about a VEGA for 239€ (Mindfactory has the Gigabyte V56 for that right now) Öhm, no, absolutely NOT! I don't get where you got your prices but that above is roughly comparable to the One X and the One S is getting downgraded in the direction of 720p or 900p with many newer games. A bluetooth Dongle is thrown at you. You really should have looked up the price of a USB BT 4.0 Dongle... Because they are at around 7€ or so: https://geizhals.de/digitus-dn-30210-1-a898046.html?hloc=de#offerlist that is also NOT TRUE! If you build your PC with that in mind and chose components accordingly, the difference between the high end Consoles and PC is negligable. I've seen my One X go over 200W for example in Gears of War 4. PS4 is a bit lower at around 160-170W But if you chose your settings to be comparable to the Consoles, the PC won't consume more... Remember that Games are usually at Medium with a bit of High on Consoles. and only 30fps... So I made a Test with my V64, Ryzen 1700X with similar settings to Consoles: Preset Medium, 1080p, fps Limited to 30fps, Division 2. And look where I am (Inside the White House): 135W... Because the Used Pumas aren't that great in the Consoles because they are pushed to the Limit. A Ryzen CPU at similar Clockrates is far more efficient than those old things. Thing is that nobody plays with 30fps on PC! And even with 60fps se, I'm at under 180W with those Components mentioned above (that is without undervolting...) So I'm saying that my PC consumes at 60fps about the amount of Power that a Console would at 30fps.
19. Save the 20 bucks, its a waste of money because of the age. We're talking about an almost 10 Year old GPU. Things changed that it makes little sense. Also you don't get any Driver Support/Fixes... Yes but the 560ti is no real improvement over the 2200G IGP that it makes no sense to buy. The AMD VEGA8 and VEGA11 are equal to nVidias GT1030... Both are quad cores, but the 2400G has 8 Threads, the 2200G only 4. The Athlon 200GE though is not Doesn't change much though as the 2400G will be better if at some point a real GPU such as the RX570 will be added.
20. Ryzen CPU are, Ryzen APU are not (yet). Allegedly Picasso is also soldered. Yes, there is. Though not officially, only Pics from someone disassembling one. https://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-3000-ryzen-5-3400g-and-ryzen-3-3200g-specs-overclock-detailed/
21. Locking users of Huawei Phones out of the Google Store/Updates is a pretty bad move. Google will pay for that in some countrys sooner or later because its Anti-Consumer. They could do that if they'd offer a replacement plan for Huawai stuff. They didn't...
22. Well, lets hope there is a chance to get rid of this nonsense... I somehow feel we are moving back to the DDR - wich is what the East realizes, who lived there. But the rest doesn't it seems...
23. Nobody knows. There ain't no review or other Information about that thing.
