Why are you testing a CPU with a 4k resolution? You do know that a i5 750 overclocked 3.7Ghz can run most games with overclocked GTX 1080 at little or no loss of framerate compared to a i7 4790k overclocked to 4.5Ghz @4k

I'm trying to keep it civil and get across how... ... ... breath ... ... ... Taking a vape on my e-cig... ... ... getting the thesaurus to find less insulting words to use... ... ... inane, ill-advised, irrelevant, laughable, half baked and nonsensical it was to use a 4k resolution to benchmark a CPU.

The words to describe how ridiculous it was to do that literally escaped me, that is how bad it was. Well the words didn't escape me but I didn't think it was a good idea to use the words that came to mind.

Don't do that in future, high resolutions like 4k and 1440p should be used to test GPU's lower resolutions like 1080p and 720p should be used to benchmark CPU's because CPU's are barely effected by resolution increases while resolutions are basically completely bound by the GPU.

And this isn't the frist time you have done this either, make a mistake once ok fine, it's fine. Twice, ok that was a little annoying just leave a comment saying, "why?" Three time well obviously you need me to spell out why what you did was wrong in place where you will actually read it.

Oh fuck off Linus. This is starting to make me reconsider wanting to buy a subscription to the new site (waiting on a decent Vessel replacement). This is just completely false.
 
People who want high refresh rates generally want it for FPS' like CS:GO, Overwatch etc. Are you really trying to claim that two Fury X's couldn't run either of these games at that resolution? Not to mention that they're currently releasing more GPUs... In as few as a couple days they have a major event. It is a $700 monitor and not all of AMD's cards are $200. I have a 390X, does this apparently not exist?
 
You even complain about the tearing in the video. How is it not relevant to mention that there will not be tearing on AMD cards?
 
I'm beginning to take these complaints about Linus being biased seriously. The latest WAN show had the absolutely massive update to the drivers ignored until literally after the outro. 

100 Hz refresh rate compared to 75 Hz of LG.

8 ms response time on default setting, 4 ms on fast setting
42-100 Hz Freesync refresh rate
But according to manufacturer's page panel can go up to 144 Hz on 2560x1080 resolution!!!
Can use 2 inputs separately for PIP/PBP

Why in the world would you:
a) gloss over the fact that it has FreeSync
b) not use FreeSync at all, using a 1080 instead
c) hope it has G-Sync (hint: if it had it, it'd be much more costly)
d) complain about tearing when it has an adaptive refresh-rate technology inbuilt which you are not bloody using

??

This is the kind of thing that makes people call you an nVidia shill for, mate.

And like I said, GCN 1.x was started by Anandtech. GCN 1.x cards are actually GCN 2. I realized that when AMD called Polaris GCN 4. The article you just linked proves where GCN 1.x started.

I really don't think Wendell meshes with the LTT crowd. They're even more unprofessional and "silly" then Logan was (in general, not referencing this specific incident).
 
But LMG has EXCELLENT management. Linus and Yvonne do a fantastic job, and I credit Yvonne with most of the hard lifting on the back-end administration of the company.
 
One thing that has been bothering me about this thread and the one that got locked: People commenting on Pistol, and questioning her relationship with Logan and saying bullshit stuff like "Don't ever involve your romantic partner in your business". Claiming things like she's spending company money or that TS is giving her a free ride, etc.
 
What the fuck? Pistol is paid a salary. WHAT SHE DOES WITH THAT SALARY IS NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS. Her relationship, whether intimate or not, IS ALSO NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS. This isn't games journalism. She isn't a journalist and he isn't a game dev, nor vice versa. If she and Logan both share rent at an apartment or house, who the fuck cares? Again, none of our business.

She might have said stupid stuff and she might not be likeable (I don't know her or anything about her, so I have no comment on her character or likeability - I frankly never even heard of her before this incident). But that doesn't matter. Comment directly on those things, if you must. But let's not make up bullshit like somehow she's a conflict of interest in the company.
 
I'm taking the firm stance of "wait until the dust settles". The amount of "pulled this out of my ass" bullshit being spread is insane. Like some dude randomly joking that maybe Logan was taking drugs somehow turned into a bunch of forumers now take it as fact that he's addicted to Cocaine. Like seriously? As for the transparency and the money? NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS. Even if you're a Patreon backer, that does not give you the right to know anything about their finances. They can voluntarily tell us, if they want (But they shouldn't - seriously, business finances are not a public discussion). But they have no obligation to do so. A Patreon backer backs because either they like the community, or for the specific "goals". If those goals aren't being met, it doesn't give you the right to demand their financial information. If you aren't satisfied with your Patreon donations, then YOU SHOULD STOP DONATING.

You should read your own news friend. They were not fired. AMD still gets use out of them, without having to pay them. They were transferred over to the joint venture with NFME, and AMD no longer has to pay them.

i simply do not see why intel would hire keller atm.
Intels own engineers are on good track with their current projects (atleast there has been no news of otherwise)
Their SSD section has been doing good for ages (their pricing of said SSDs are not good)
The only place keller could fit in atm, that would make sense, was in the new automotive security branch. Making custom chips there that is a bit more rugged then usual and with advanced security barriers would MAYBE be his forte.
Other then this, as a chip designer who works on a project basis, i see no logical reason to hire him on any "normal" type of project keller has been part of.
If intel is struggling with Canonlake, then that is a manufacturin issue, and that again is a machine design issue which goes well beyond a chip makers field of work...

Also you mentioned to me, long ago, that "IBM clearly thought i was good enough", now you state that you were an intern. Let me just jack your ego down a bit with some realistic facts...
No matter the company, mega corp or family business, if you is taken in as a intern they take you in based upon free labor.
So why did IBM choose you? more likely then not because huge corps only want the better students, as they will hopefully not annoy or slow down their paid staff. A bad student would tie up a staff members time, this is counter-productive to a large corp.
Until you are hired on either a contract or full time basis, you are but convenient free labor to any company. Big or small. Also remember, for the mega corps, the students applying is not just from your uni, it is from ALL unis in the states, in canada, in europe. Everyone want to work for the big guys.
So take a bottle of humility, take a deep breath and act as if everyone is your equal.
The most successful people on this planet does not start out as ruthless, they start out as sociable, friendly and fun people to stick around. Those who start out ruthless, unless they have absurd amounts of money and power from the start, is always stomped into the ground and forgotten about sooner or later. Not to mention, any co-worker will spend his or her time either avoiding or undermining you out of spite if you act like a dick.

Id like to know how intel plans to respond to Patrick about leaking information from what clearly seems to be of high value to their company before it was publicly announced.(Not that it was announced at all!)
