  1. well I guess I'm stuck with 120hz cap as long as I have this laptop, unless Intel comes up with some driver to fix the issue for what Lenovo did (limiting Nvidia gpu's role in the system)
  2. It's the same even in advanced display settings, max I see is 120HZ, I attached the screenshot below. sadly no, all I have is HDMI 2.0, so I'm wondering if I used HDMI 2.0 to Display Port adapter would remove refresh rate cap? Yea, it's pretty stupid of Lenovo to just let iGPU dictate the functionality of how display properties should work in a laptop that also has discrete GPU, but hey it is what it is.
  3. I'm using Dell S2522HG. https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Monitor-Technology-Antiglare-Metallic/dp/B095TVWL6M/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=dell+s2522hg&qid=1671333698&sprefix=dell+s2522%2Caps%2C522&sr=8-3 My nvidia control panel options are locked down, thanks to Lenovo they decided to put Intel Iris Xe as an intermediate GPU which has exclusive control in terms of customizable options and this laptop apparently has no MUX switch.
  4. Hi guys, I recently bought a 240hz monitor and been trying to get my laptop to run at 240hz to use its full potential, but there is no 240hz option to select, and the highest I could see in Command Center is 120HZ. Could you please suggest on how to solve the issue - if there is any. Laptop Name: Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15IHU6 Intel Core i5 11300H, Intel Iris XE iGPU, Nvidia RTX 3050 discreet GPU. I have attached screenshot of my monitor details, in command center it clearly shows that the display itself supports 240HZ, but not available to select. I'm using HDMI 2.0 cable from a HDMI 2.0 port on laptop to connect which came with the monitor, and based on the research I did in the internet, the 2.0 HDMI should support 240HZ. To be precise, what I'm trying to figure out is: 1) Is Intel Iris XE iGPU bottlenecking the refresh rate to 120hz? 2) Is it HDMI 2.0 that's unable to deliver refresh rate over 120? 3)Would using HDMI 2.0 (laptop) to Display Port (Monitor) remove the refresh rate cap? The first pic shows info about the monitor and the resolutions and refresh rate it can support, the second picture it only shows 120hz max.
  5. Nevermind, I got this sorted out myself. All I had to do was signout in that account. Thanks anyway
  6. I got your point before you made this post, you can notice I edited topic acknowledging the fact that there is no converter included. Thanks anyway.
  7. Actually, there is a cable that has HDMI to RCA. Check this out: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-5m-5Ft-HDMI-To-3-RCA-Video-Audio-AV-Component-Converter-Adapter-Cable-For-HDTV-/371494158814 Will it work if I connect using this from my GPU to external analog speakers? edit: While I was checking out the product page, I saw this: "The cable doesn't own the chip to convert digital signals to analog signals, so it only fits for the devices which itself can convert digital signals to analog signals, this product is the Component Adapter Cable only! The convertor is not included!!" So I assume this won't work as HDMI is digital and RCA is analog and my speakers has no converter I assume.
  8. My onboard audio decoder died, so I'm looking for alternate ways to play audio in my PC. So, I thought using the audio decoder on my GPU would work with just a cable..
  9. As the title says, will it work? I will use HDMI to RCA cable for this, one end goes into HDMI port of GPU and other end gets into my external speakers.. Will it work? If so, I will buy a wire that is available on stores.. Please help me out.
  10. So, I turned on my PC today, and noticed that there is a red cross mark on my speakers icon, I tried to reinstall drivers - didn't work. Then I reinstalled my OS - didn't work either and I freaked out which resulted in some random jiggle in settings and restart. After some time, I noticed that there is no such thing like "on board audio" at all - as I opened speccy, it shows only "Nvidia Audio", it used to show both realtek and nvidia before. Now I assume the chip on my motherboard has died completely, and yes, it is enabled in BIOS, but still it sounds dead. I got few alternate ideas now, but I want to make sure it work after all my efforts.. ** Since my onboard chip died, can I connect my external speakers to HDMI port on my Nvidia GPU with HDMI to RCA cable converter? I am using currently DVI port and HDMI port is vacant, so this sparked an idea in my mind. Will it work? From HDMI port on Nvidia GPU (GTX 650) to external speakers via HDMI to rca cable..
  11. How good is your power supply? Hook up another PSU and make sure your power supply isn't standing in the way of your GPU
  12. painting heatsinks is not advisory, though some nit-wits painted them to look cool; It reduces heat dissipation as the paint acts as an obstacle between its surface and atmosphere there by increasing in hardware temperatures.
  13. Try changing cable, swap to other slot on your GPU. See if it's your monitor's that's dying by any chance. Also, reinstall drivers.. Hope it gets fixed. -cheers
  14. Never enjoyed as much as playing Heroes & Generals on other games. It's maybe the fact that I'm WW2 enthusiast. So, by the topic's title, best only best game to my perspective which is more fun to play is Heroes and Generals.
