  1. Thank-you for your suggestions. It turns out that disabling SLi allowed me to select the nvidia shadow settings while allowing the game to not crash. The strange thing is that after re-enabling SLi the game doesn't crash anymore.
  2. Hello. Hopefully theirs some knowledgeable people put there who can help me solve the issue I'm having. I have 2 GTX 1080's in SLi, 16Gb RAM and a 4790k OC to 4.7GHz. The issue I'm having is if I select either one of the nvidia shadow options (PCSS or HFTS) then I get a crash to desktop. If I don't then everything is completely fine. Does anybody out there know how to fix this stupid issue?
  3. The simple answer, as always, is to upgrade to the best GPU you can afford at the time. You CPU is more than capable of handling whatever you throw at it. Both GPUs will be able to handle (with exception) every game out there at there max in game setting at 60fpss+. What you buy should come down to how often you plan on upgrading and how much you want to spend. Buy the one that best suits your wallet right now.
  4. Depends on how often you want to upgrade. For example, if you want to upgrade in say 2 years then get the 1070. If you want to upgrade in 3 years then get the 1080. Also at the resolution you game at it wouldn't have mattered if you were using a i5 or i7. (I know you have a 4790k) Neither would bottleneck the card. That's a misconception that many like to have.
  5. Thats good. RMA the card. It sounds like a voltage issue when boosting.
  6. Have a look at what the led lights are doing where you plugged in the pci-e power cables. They should be white and static.
  7. It looks like Microsoft is willing to potentially loose almost its entire customer base simply to destroy steam. Wow, what ever will we all do?
  8. Its not that I'm disagreeing with you its that I'm pointing out the fact that all sound card makers, DAC makers etc do the exact same thing. Colouring as you put it is still an opinion. Its about personal preference. Again a fact. Its probably best that we just agree to disagree and move on :-)
  9. Going back to the comment on the sound card my point is this. Different DAC's sound different depending on there parts and what you have connected to them. Sound cards sound different for the same reasons. Headphones and speakers sound different depending on there parts and there setup. Saying that a particular brand of sound card in this case makes everything sound colourful isn't a fact. Its your opinion and the sound colour you went on about could easily be a result of whatever headphones or speakers you have plugged into it as well as what ever software your using to drive it. Basically its all about preference. Cables on the other hand don't really do anything unless there carrying a purely analogue signal.
  10. But they are different. No matter how much people argue there not, they are. The fact they use different parts and cost different amounts demonstrates it.
  11. Sorry to disagree but any time a dac decodes a digital signal back to analogue it adds something. If you don't believe me then look it up. If they didn't there wouldn't be such a large difference in there pricing just for starters.
  12. All sound cards and separate dacs etc add noise (color etc) when they decode the digital signal back to analogue. Headphones, speakers etc also add noise (color etc) when they play back the decoded sound. Its just a thing.
  13. I haven't used on board sound for many years so I couldn't really comment on it. I did upgrade from a creative titanium x-fi and there is a difference. You can also change out the included amps if you don't like there sound reproduction. (I think I said that right)
  14. I'm not sure how.
  15. Thankyou for the suggestion. They all seem to have really large stands though.
  16. Hello. I currently have a 40" Philips 4k monitor (BDM4065UC) but I don't like its stand. Can anyone suggest another more suitable stand that looks better and allows for some adjustment. I don't really want to spend more than £200 GBP's. Thankyou in advance.
  17. I have that sound card and its more than capable to run your headphones.
  18. Hello. I'm currently using a RAT 7 MMO but I feel like a change. I want something better because this mouse is now starting to annoy me. I play lots of different types of games but I mainly play either first person shooters or RPG's. I welcome any advice you have and I am open to both wired and wireless as an option.
  19. Crysis 3, Battlefield games in general, Gears of war Ultimate edition, Rise of the tomb raider, Arma 3. There are more that benefit from as many cores as possible especially at 1080p.
  20. I would have agreed if not for the current set of games coming out wanting a core i7 in there recommended requirements.
  21. No problem. If you looked at my suggested list you probably noticed I selected a 850 watt PSU. This is because although many will tell you different a PSU is at its most efficient when around 50% usage. Its also quieter then too.
  22. The i7 6700 is a locked slightly slower version of the i7 6700k. The 6700 runs at 3.4GHz and turbos on all cores to 3.7Ghz. The 6700k runs at 4Ghz and turbos on all cores to 4Ghz
