  1. So I'm running a brand new RTX 2080 FE with an overclocked 4690k and 16gb RAM. When I have RTX on in BFV, the frames are super unstable, and the game usually freezes within a few minutes, even with all settings on low. This is being run at 1440p. Has anyone else experience this? Should I be getting better performance out of my hardware? Thanks, Mr. Jake
  2. I've been looking at EKWB for a waterblock to go on my reference design GTX 970, but I can only find blocks that are "non-reference" GTX 970 graphics cards. Does anyone know of a water block that will fin on a reference GTX 970?
  3. Didn't mean to. Had it set at 1.2 and was fine at 4.4ghz, upped the multipler to 45, and then it wouldnt post. had to reset CMOS.
  4. I tried using it, but if I adjust the multipler with it, as soon as i press apply my system crashes.
  5. So it seems like either my board or chip is super finicky. If I adjust it, and its just slightly undervolted, it wont even post to bios, and I have to reset my CMOS. This typically happens around 4.5ghz with a voltage at 1.2. 4.4ghz is fine at 1.2, and maybe even lower. But at 1.2 volts im ggetting temps in anywhere from 63-67 during intel burn test.
  6. So I'm overclocking a 4690k with an MSI Z97s SLI Krait Edition mobo. I'm not sure how to adjust and set fixed voltages. Also, it seems that I reach temps of 70C at 4.4ghz with an H100i when testing with intel burn test. Anyone have similar results? I was hoping to get 4.5 or 4.6 out of it. Maybe I just got a little bit weaker chip. Thanks for any insight you can provide!
  7. The only reason I ever considered an i7 was; When looking at the system requirements for Battlefront and Fallout, the recommended is an i7. It worried me a little bit, and wasn't sure if I should spend the extra cash if games are going to prefer hyper threading.
  8. I would upgrade that 970 to a 980, just my opinion though. I have a 970 and I love it, but sometimes I wish I would have just gone balls out and gotten the 980, this way we don't have the vram issue, and you simply get more performance, and more performance out of expandability if you decide you want to build dual SLI or something like that, but also will perform the best among single gpu systems at 1080p.
  9. So I've been considering upgrading to an i5 4690k (from an FX-6350) which was the gamers choice for a while, but now I'm seeing some system requirements preferring an i7. Also I have also considered adding another 970 to my rig for dual SLI. So I suppose my question to you, the LTT forums is: Should I go all out for i7 now, or would the i5 4690k still be a top dog gaming chip? Also, is dual SLI worth it on GTX 970's at this point since the card is a year old? I was considering just waiting until it starts struggling with running new titles at max, and waiting for the new generation of cards and getting the best one available at that point, rather than planning for building a dual SLI setup with two lesser cards. (Like GTX 970 vs GTX 980, but in new generation). Thanks guys.
  10. I am doing an intel swap and plan on getting an I5 4690k. I was hoping some of you guys could recommend some good motherboards, preferably with a blue color scheme. I do like MSI, but am willing to try different brands. I would like 6+ sata ports and built in audio. I do also eventually plan on doing dual SLI config. Thanks guys!
  11. True, I could get another GTX 970 and make a kick ass SLI config.
  12. So I am considering purchasing an i7 4790k or a i5 4690k for my rig. I have a GTX 970 to go along with them. My rig is purely for gaming and the occasional term paper. Eventually I would like to try gaming at 1440p. What cpu would you guys recommend? Thanks!
  13. i can spend probably up to $400 on the CPU. Unsure of mobo because I'm not familiar with prices on good boards.
