Reference R( 290 on newegg for $200, Should I get it? I need to replace my dying 280x anyways.
-
Well I don't see how you have an OEM card from AMD, AMD doesn't sell OEM cards except for their FirePro series. Warrantys are fulfilled by the manufacturer(Sapphire/XFX/MSI/Gigabyte), you don't register your warranty with AMD.
I cannot recommend you a GPU as it seems that something is wrong with your PC to have so many GPU's die within 6 months of usage, probably something wrong with the PSU. I would advise you fix your PC, actually register and use your warranties correctly, and then consider buying a new GPU.
Best of luck.
I picked up OEM cards from a friend, idk how he got them. Those warranties DO go through amd. The warrenties on my OTHER cards were properly registered. After I sent the card in, I got it back every single time with different excuses. I have tested my components on different platforms as they are all brand new. I have never had good luck with amd, and I think the factory OCing of the cards is what killed them (I know it shouldn't, but I know my PSU isn't the problem because I have switched and the issue persists.)

The point is, don't use GPUBoss. It's extremely unreliable and they don't actually test the cards in real world applications. They basically compare the specs and then judge which one is better. Which is not always the case.
They're Nvidia and Intel biased. They won't ever dare say that AMD is better in a comparison. So, don't use boss sites.
390>290x>970>290
IT says a GTX 650 is tied with a 290x
aka dont use it
Lets get to the point. What (In your opinion/experiences) should I purchase?
-
Are they AMD OEM cards or are they Sapphire/XFX/Gigabyte, etc?
I've had multiple of both. AMD has never once fufilled the warrenty claim on OEMs and Sapphire cards.
-
Why haven't you tried using any of the warranties for the three AMD cards you have?
AMD never fufills them. they always reject it for some reason.

R9290- $200-$240 on newegg
GTX970- $280-$290 on newegg.
My last 3 amd GPUs have failed on me. I'm using a dying 280x right now and I need an upgrade. I dont prefer one company over another. All I want is a high perf. gpu that lasts more than 6 months (unlike my 270, 285, and 280x)
-
R9 290 or GTX 970?
Comparable prices on newegg right now (Below $300)
My old 280x is failing on me and my last few AMD GPUs have also.
EDIT: Sorry Idk what happened this thread got f*cked up.

Hitbox or ustream would be the next option then.
I also dont know if webcams will have good quality with distance since the entire point of them is to be used up close.
-
*bump*

Twitch would probably be the best to stream on. As for hardware setup you probably need a computer with a lot of usb ports or get a usb hub assuming you are using USB cameras. OBS would be the best software to stream on in my opinion. All you basically need are good quality webcams. Regular cameras would probably be harder to stream from.
Twitch probably wouldn't allow it since it is non-gaming.

Hallo!
I need some ideas/input on this. So my mom and her fiance are getting married soon. They will be getting married at a public venue/place thats made for celebrations and such. They called me today asking if there is any way I can live stream it for them so anybody who couldn't make it could watch from home. I told them yes, because I know i can make it happen. Were still checking if they have internet and how fast. Assuming they do and its fast enough, this wouldn't be that hard. I would like to be able to live stream off of about 1-3 cameras and I want to record it for any who miss the stream. I just don't know where to start.
I'm in need of:
- the best site to stream this event on
- hardware setup ideas (How to hook everything up)
- a good software to stream with
- approximate cost for any equipment needed
Thanks

you may end up like this
This is amazing

Lmao I was supposed to get them out like 6 months ago but the surgery got delayed so I've been dealing with them coming in for awhile now

Should there be more gun control?
Yes - its a deadly weapon, in the wrong hands its GOING to end up with somebody being killed. No guns dont kill people on their own, but the more guns that are lying around the easier they are to get a hold of
Most crimes are NOT pre-meditated, but are in the heat of the moment, if there are no guns around, nobody gets shot
Sure if a criminal wants to get a gun, nothing will stop them, that doesn't mean everyone should have one, we are just fine in the UK without everyone having guns - heck almost anyone here can get a shotgun licence, but nobody does, because nobody needs a gun
Should there be safety training at gun ranges?
Yes, gun drills and safety should be number priority to gun owners, being able to shoot a gun is not enough, learning how to be safe with it is another
Should it be required that you lock up ALL guns inside your own house?
YES - while you may have the best intentions, somebody could break into your house and find it, a kid could find it, etc, imagine your kids friends coming over and finding a loaded gun and accidentally firing it at your kids or something

What kind of games do you like?
FPS, Survival, Strategy, anything really.
*EXCEPT Cheap shitty indie games. Im not into the hundreds of $2 games on steam.
-
Metal Gear Solid is a solid game.
if you want more games... If you have friends I can see Keep Talking and no one explodes being a nice game to tinker with.
If you're into visual novels I can recommend A Kiss for the Petals - Remembering How We Met and Nekopara, although that caters to a more... unique audience.
If you want a driving game, Euro truck 2 is the best out there. Its relaxing and fun (You have to try it, all of my friends said it looked like the most boring game ever, and now they've over 100 hours)
If you want a Racing game i'd pick up Asseto Corsa or Project Cars.
If you don't already have Rocket League you should total buy it.
And if you want a nice game that's about drifting then Absolute Drift is your only and best bet.
thank you! this is a great answer. Ill check some of these out. any slow, strategy games I could play while doing homework/listening to music?
-
Fallout 4/Battlefront
Yeah battlefront for sure but Ill get that when it actually comes out/when prices lower. I wanna get something tonight.
-
I have $40 that I really wanna spend. I am feeling the need to get a new game on steam because Im bored with my current games. any recommendations? the game could be up to $60, but I dont want it taking more than 30GB of space.

Depending on how well you did or how pleasing the colour scheme is, that could actually help sell your card. Tek Syndicate have the only white EVGA 770. Beautiful. Try eBay. That's how I sell all my old stuff.
modified my quote. added an image. hard to see, but its the R9 280x TOXIC. made the card white and black. IS the LTT classifieds a good place to sell?
-
Ah, okay.
At that price point a 290 would be a pretty sensible upgrade. So long as you can power it. Try selling the 280X so that you have a higher budget or something.
See the thing is, I spray painted the parts of the cooler on my card to make it look better. It honestly looks amazing, but I dont know where/how to sell it.
-
Did your 290X die? Because that's a downgrade.
Mistake. I meant 280x. Corrected.
Referance R9 290 for $200, shall I?

The only thing Im worried about is the cooler. Is it really all that bad?
