TheDj408 reacted to michrech in RAID 1 for backup?
I think what folks are trying to say here is that RAID is for data redundancy / system availability (except for RAID0), *not* backup.  With a RAID array, you could lose all of your HDD's (in your case, two), and you'd have no backup of the data.  With a RAID 1 array, if you had corrupted data written to the array, it'd be mirrored to both drives.  This is what backups (separate from the array) are for.

To answer your question -- yes, you can use differently branded HDDs in your array, so long as they are of similar size.  Just keep in mind that the array will only be as fast as the slowest drive in the array.

If you want an actual backup, you can accomplish this in a number of ways, the simplest / cheapest probably being connecting an external HDD to your computer.  Once this is done, you can either manually copy your data to your external, or use software (like Macrium's Reflect, or a number of others) to perform backups on a schedule.

you can mount in in fstab via terminal then format in NTFS then mount again via stab then boot windows if it sees the disk.

Bad sectors are mostly made by wrong write files. Then the sector will get jammed and not be able to read that again. Maybe formating it in 0 sectors again will work again but this is not always like it will work mostly that sector is gone forever. And for you're question yed you can place 2 different kind of hdd's in raid 0 but it is recomended that you use 2 same of a kind hdd for better performance.

You must go into Disk management and add it.

1080p, should be able to run at Medium decently well depending on the game.

I would really try and get a 760 or 660. The 750ti's a little weak but it won't matter that much for rendering.

You can choose whatever you want. I would get a minimum of 25gb for the OS partition.

    Heyyo,
Any motherboard will suffice. Gigabyte boards are among the most favored for hackintosh builds. Just load into your UEFI and set your storage drive controllers to AHCI and you're set.
Yes, you can use hackintosh without buying a discrete GPU.
Whenever I've done hackintosh? I've always used Tony Mac's setup. Works fantastic.

If you don't overclock then I wouldn't suggest getting Z97 motherboards, they are made for overclocking and if you don't overclock then the motherboard don't use its full potential.
If I were you I'd choose cheaper option, so ASUS one, cheaper option but still good. But when I see GIGABYTE's specs it has more, but cost more, so it's up to you. If you want more features then I'd suggest going with GIGABYTE.

Well the Gigabyte has 2 physical x16 slots, while the Asus only has 1 but has 2 physical x1 slots. A GPU eats up 2 slots so with the Asus you're left with a PCIe x1. On the Gigabyte, you're left with a PCI and a physical x16. Go with the Gigabyte, better upgrade path in terms of card expansion.

The integrated graphics of the i7 will be better than a GT 610. If you haven't already bought the PC, please reconsider your options. Having an i7 and running on integrated graphics is like buying a Bugatti Veyron and replacing its engine with a tractor's

Omg, wish we had those cases in america. And modular let let you customize your power connector cables and switch them out with custom ones. They are generally better for small systems where cables can be bad for air flow. They are also cool of you want red braided power cables to go with your red themed system, for example.

based on the 200r it is meh/fair. if using flat modular cable it'll be fine.
if the cables are round could get difficult.

that looks to be the cheapest H97 from the link you provided.

The PSU looks fine, although I have no experience with Corsair PSU's. Only EVGA, Seasonic, Silverstone, and XFX. I would say go with the manufacturer that has better reviews within your country for warranty, parts, etc.
