  1. Have you considered the Full Frame Canon 6D? I know for sure it's a great option for video people looking for full frame. It also delivers the benefits for stills/photos. The pricepoint you mention with the 5d Mii isn't appealing for me. The newer sensor/controls/menus/functionality of newer canon bodies is much less of a hassle
  2. Okay that sounds great! I am also looking for a USB 3.0 RAID 1 external unit that we could use maybe for editing off of and side copies of projects... Should I be looking at the My Book Duo?
  3. Thank you for your input! I'm now interested in the two units you linked... From the two, I'm guessing I should go with the EX2100... I looked more into it and I like it. I'm pretty much sold at this point but I have one question. I plan to run it as a regular NAS, but lets say there's a scenario where I find myself needing to access the drives directly... Is it possible to access the unit directly, such as off of a network?
  4. Recently upgraded a system to an Asus 970 strix, it's amazing!
  5. As long as he is logged into his account, it shouldn't be asking for another CD/game key...
  6. Hey guys, I need some input! I do event & wedding cinematography at a semi-professional level. I deal with 60-170GB of footage per projects for clients. I am looking for a RAID 1 solution so I am protected against drive failure. Currently, I am not trying to solve the problem of "backing up"; I'm focussed on getting a preventative measure for failure of a drive. Adding internal hard drives is out, I'm really set on Network storage. I'm planning on using 2 WD 6TB Red drives (for sure). Here are the two models I'm stuck between, price is not a bottleneck but I do want to save money if possible... WD MyCloud EX2 Synology DS214play For the WD MyCloud EX2, I really like the ease of use of this machine and it looks like it doesn't enough of what I need it to do with some bonus things. It looks simple enough that I don't think I'll have a headache when setting it up. I also really like the easy hot swap... It has good amount of USB ports too. For the DS214play, I really like that it has a hardware H.264 transcoder... I film and edit with mainly 1080p video files... This may help with looking through footage ( at least i think it will; especially over the internet). I love the control that you have with the Synology DSM software. I'm pretty much sold, it looks decent and handleable since I have a limited knowledge about networking. Both NAS options allow for file sharing which is great. I like the way that "users" work on the Synology management. Right now I'm just stuck between a sort of limitless experience with a Synology DS214play or the ease of use of a WD MyCloud EX2. If anyone has any other NAS suggestions, I might reconsider...
  7. If you can get your hands on Data Rescue 4, you'll have a high probability of recovering your files without loosing too much. It has saved my friends and I multiple times... Thing is that it's not technically free... Works best on Mac OSX but I've used the windows variant also...
  8. I think casual is filed with more negative people, but if you you're throwing in competitive match you'll definitely get hate.
  9. Looking back at when I first started, I'm glad that I chose to shoot JPEG. Just make sure you are shooting at native quality/non compressed/ full resolution. You should not be shooting in RAW if you don't have a purpose. I only shoot RAW for client based work or certain passion based projects. I tend to hoard all the photos I take... If a lot of them were RAW files, I would be drowning in useless large files!
  10. I first discovered LinusTechTips through one of his early unboxing videos. I got hooked because of Linus' personality and enthusiasm for tech. Each day I looked forward to his next video because of how personal and natural those videos were. I spread all the info I learned from this channel to help others. The passionate and helpful community of LTT has had a huge influence in my life that will never forget. It's been so long but we've made it to a million! I really enjoyed watching LTT grow into what it is today!
  11. I also shoot primarily video, I have been shooting with the 60D. For your budget I suggest a Canon rebel t4i or t5i but since these are entry level DSLR's please note that ISO performance is not the best. I own both the t3i and 60D so I see where Canon screws you over with the lower ends. Even though I could only afford a used 60D body for 650 thats what I went with (2 years ago). If you really could hold off the 70D would be a god camera for you. It has quick and clean autofocus for video that no other high end DSLR has in the canon line up (like the 5D Miii which is the one made for video professionals). Stick with Canon for video, Nikon is known to have a green tint to its video.
  12. I love this phone! I like the Camera AND the speaker features!
  13. Disney has created a device that uses air to provide tactile feedback in free air. This would make games much more epic! Check it out! I wonder when this will be available because I would definitely consider purchasing it! http://www.disneyresearch.com/project/aireal http://gizmodo.com/whoa-disney-made-video-game-rumble-feedback-for-kinect-843248736
  14. I like it, its smaller and has improved in many ways over the 60D. Though it looks like a 'pro-Rebel'. Still waiting on the 7D mark II though, I'll stick to my 60D for now
