  1. I'm a crazy nut for E-Paper/E-Ink. I think it'd be cool to cover a wall in E-Ink tech. But it's so expensive and weird. But imagine it: A non-emissive screen on all of your walls, so it emits no light, but allows you to color change. You don't need walls animated so the downside of low FPS on E-Paper is not a problem - All you'd need is to make sure to have a somewhat colorful e-paper display and you have infinite wallpaper color changing.. Nobody does this tho
  2. Look look hear me out, why don't we use E-Paper displays as wallpaper? For those who don't know, E-Paper is a reflective display that doesn't emit any light, as it uses physical particles rather than light to display, and also use very little power. It isn't a new technology, but it's still pretty primitive in some ways and has some limitations. But it could probably be integrated almost indistinguishably into a wall as it makes no light.. So think about it like this Pros: -If you aren't updating it, it isn't taking power -Reflective, not emitting light, would look just like regular wallpaper (but can change! !!) -Can be used to represent pretty much any mostyl-static image ANYWHERE (Like a calendar? -Infinite wallpaper designs. If you somehow managed to do this with RGB E-Paper, infinite wall paint as well! Cons: -Low FPS, so likely no "tv anywhere" vibe -Very expensive -Would likely compromise with low-quality/Resolution panels if not absolutely stonkin rich -How do you even run something like that? Lots of pixels, even if not a lot of fps -oogh my brain What are your thoughts? I bet Linus would be insane enough to go for something like that, lord knows he can afford it (god I wish I could hhg)
  3. I'm currently using a decently old Radeon 7850 graphics card that only has 1gb Vram. A few years ago it was great, but the lack of vram makes me want to cry now. Which is exactly why I need a new one.
  4. Two 1000$+ cards?... Oh lordy. I'll just sit here with my Radeon 7850 1gb card, and i3 processor, waiting for stuff to get cheaper.
  5. Eh, I guess I'll just wait a while. My current rig will no doubt last me until I can get the money to upgrade "pretty much everything". I mean, I've not run into a single game I can't play at decent settings/FPS, though I fear that will change when I start getting into the "ooo next gen purdy" games like GTA V. Lucky me I've never been a graphics person, though I do like pretty games. Which is why I haven't bought.. any? games released recently, with things like FarCry 3 being some of the 'newest' games I've bought. Sorry for all the late replies.
  6. Woops. Man, that's a bit expensive. Probably might as well just go and build another computer entirely if I'm going that far. Shrug.
  7. " My budget is flexible, but on the cheaper range;" To be honest, I don't know. "good deals" are my budget I guess. Any suggestions? I'm hardware-picking incompetent for some reason.
  8. I feel as though I've done something terribly wrong with this post
  9. Hey, I assume this is the most fitting spot to post this though I'm not sure. I feel as though my computer is sitting in an awkward area; It's not fast enough to really play new games at ultra settings, yet it's also too fast for me to really know if I should upgrade it (hundreds of dollars upgrading multiple parts, as they all seem to be in this weird "not-quite-good-enough" area? No thanks..) So I'm just wondering if the community here has any insights on what, if anything I should upgrade. Is my GPU lacking behind? Is the CPU bottleknecking? Is the CPU too slow AND the GPU needs an upgrade? I'm not up-to-date on technology right now, any help will be appreciated. Now, if I recall correctly, this link is the PC part picker parts list. It looks like the right one. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/WiseWoodrow/saved/TmCLrH Apart from the power supply, which I think I swapped with another computer (due to it being better while the computer it was originally in didn't need it,) this should be the complete list. What do you guys think would be the most bang-for-buck way to upgrade it, or should I just wait until it gets older? My budget is flexible, but on the cheaper range; I'm trying to get 60fps on new games at 1080p here - and I'm already doing an okay job at that with some less new games. If I missed some information, I'm tired, please ask and I'll update this topic.
  10. what did you buy* at the* razer store (50% off)
  11. I've been needing a new desk for a while now. This drawn-on drawing table-esque thing is just not cutting it for me. Thanks OP. Nice room.
  12. Surely the requirements for owning a gun aren't high enough if this crap is happening
  13. This is still a thing right? How does this work. My parents would love a late-christmas present. It's painful watching them use that crappy laptop.
