  1. Sorry, I didn't read that correctly. I meant yes I did.
  2. Yeah, it has to be the mobo.. I have the card in my rig right now which is a Z77 chipset. No problem. That's really weird though, X58 is first gen and this is like among the second gen chipsets of mobos for the core i series of intel CPUs
  3. We both were at the time. It was very frustrating. Nothing bad happened the 5 to 7 times we did lol. I know it's pretty much forbidden to do something like that if you don't want anything failing or possibly shorting how somehow. The 560 Ti is fucked though either way because the fans aren't working at all and at idle it's getting at around 70+ and during gaming it hits over 100 C then it shuts off.
  4. So my friend has this weird problem after purchasing and installing an ASUS GTX 970 STRIX OC on his P67 AsRock Extreme 4 Gen 3 mobo. He's running a 2600k, 8GB 1333Mhz G.Skill, 750w Antec psu, etc.etc. So initially there was no display from the 970. Then troubleshooting began and to no avail. About to give up and call it a DOA, we tried flashing the bios, uninstalling the driver for the 560 Ti, etc. and for some weird reason that I can't even fathom the 970 will only work if the 560 Ti is in the second PCIe slot.... and if the 560 Ti is removed while the PC is on (I know that's probably not the best thing to do but fuck it) it still displays but when the PC is restarted there is no display again until we turn it off and reinstall the 560 Ti and turn it on again... the 970 works flawless but it's as if the motherboard won't accept it unless it has the 560 Ti in there with it... I'm almost dumbfounded but I'm assuming it's a bios issue with this older chipset. This still doesn't make sense though..
  5. It's alright, not that I'm stuck on the speakers I listed but to my knowledge not all powered speakers have a volume knob on each speaker. For instance these KEF X300A's are specifically for computers, they are individually powered but they connect together via USB and the system gain is on one speaker. Then there is a balance knob on the other if the balance is off which from the reviews I've read that isn't a problem. On the Audioengine A5+ only one of the two speakers is powered, the other is passive so the volume and everything is on the left speaker.Thank you though very much, I will definitely look into the receivers being sold around my area.
  6. I knew that form the get go. At the time I purchased the Z623 I just wanted something decent for the price and before I purchased those I had the Z523 which just wasn't cutting it so I gave those to my brother and went up to the Z623(I wasn't really super into audio at the time either). This was pretty soon after I built my computer so budgeting at the time was tight. After a couple years of owning these and being frustrated with them at times, I started looking at better speakers like the ones I listed (Audioengine A5+ which retails at $399 and KEF X300A at $799) both which are 2.0 systems and both powered if I'm not mistaken. I know Klipsch are awesome too.
  7. Looking to replace my Logitech Z623s down the line anywhere from 6 months to a year from now but I wanted to get an idea of what I should save up for and what would be the best for my needs/wants. I'm looking for either a 2.0 or 2.1 setup. I don't care much for muddy, overwhelming bass. I like a flat response with balanced highs, mids and lows. I will be gaming, listening to different types of music such as different types of EDM, Post Hardcore Metalcore and other subgenres of rock similar to this, Classical, Theatrical, Jpop/Jrock, classic rock, etc. etc. I listen to just about every genre of music as long as it sounds appealing imo. I'd like to be able to turn it up really loud with minimal distortion if any at all. The Z623s sound okay but when I listen to most anything, the satellites start to clip/distort really badly so I have to keep it below 75% volume if I don't want to hear terrible distortion. My spending limit may be up in the $500-$600 USD range more or less. Also I'd like for my next set of speakers to be as loud as or louder than the Z623s and I know they output 200w. I think it's 150w for the sub and 25w for each sat. I want to say I'm slowly becoming an audiophile, but I'm not really that snobby about it. I just like really nice sounding speakers so that I can fully immerse myself in the music that I listen to and the games that I play. I was considering Audioengine A5+'s or KEF X300A's which the X300A's are $100 - $200 over the spending limit I posted but if they're well worth it I may consider.
  8. I looked into those 2 programs a little and I just decided to do photorec since it was already installed here on my friend's flash drive. The files are currently being copied and I'll post whether or not they're readable when it's done. Thank you though. I didn't really want to do this method, but I'm starting to get slightly frustrated..
  9. No, it's a Toshiba drive that came from a Toshiba laptop.
  10. I guess that's a possibility, my coworker was telling me that I could use photorec to do a raw extraction of the data, though if I do that it will be very unorganized with no names for any of the files and what not. He's very familiar with it and works on things like this for a living but unfortunately he isn't here to help me in person. If the files themselves are damaged I wonder why I can go through all the directories on the HDD and see all the files.. When I analyze the partitions it gives me Warning: number of bytes per sector mismatches 512 and sometimes another warning having to do with bytes per cylinder/head mismatching. I was told that I can switch cylinders or something of that nature? I don't know how to do something like that as I'm pretty new to Testdisk and I haven't used Linux in about 5 years though so I'm kind of stuck..
  11. I was asked to recover some important files for a family member from an HDD that is supposedly unallocated according to windows disk management which isn't true because it was a boot drive. Obviously something is wrong, maybe a damaged partition, sectors, or maybe a damaged main board. So my coworker let me use his flash drive so that I can boot into Linux and use Testdisk 7.1. This is my first time using it but I've familiarized myself with it a bit so far and when I attempt to copy files from this HDD, it fails to copy any files even though I can see the files. Is there any other way to obtain those files? It's a 500GB Toshiba laptop drive MQ01ABD050.
  12. I'll probably end up doing this soon for the time being seeing as I won't have enough saved up for a 970m within the next couple of months. I'm just unsure if I want to do a reflow with my heat gun or my toaster oven lol. It's funny how I kind of solved my own post. I guess I just needed to wait until Eurocom started selling MXM 3.0b GPUs as upgrades for gaming laptops because when I checked their site about a year ago they didn't do that. Though now my 7970M doesn't work at all. Every time I install the driver for it, it BSOD's and if it tries to boot up with the driver installed, it won't boot. It either gets stuck on the Windows Logo before booting up or it eventually BSODs with 0x124 or something similar like 0x101 saying the system stopped to prevent damage being caused to my PC..
  13. Yes, they have a vbios and Prema mod makes a custom bios for clevo/sager notebooks as well as the custom vbios for the 970m
