  1. New tubing and liquid installed:
  2. Heres a preview of what the new tubing will look like compared to the current config. It blends in alot better with the other shades of blue and is what i intended it to be like in the first place. I'll remove the anti-cyclone from the res and install a uv led in one of the plugs at the bottom, hopefully this will make it glow as the liquid i'm going to use next is uv reactive. Theres a switch at the back to turn the led off should it not look good. In regards to the hard drive problem, instead of modding the case more and maybe not improving the noise at all, I've chosen to get a HDD silencer that will sit in one of the unused 5.25" bays. The particular unit will be a 'Grow Up Japan Smart Drive 2002C'
  3. Thanks, the older EK design looked awesome, i was glad to get this range just before the new circle design came out. I dont mind the new designs either though.I had a quick play last night and seem to have reduced the pump noise a little by removing the foam from underneath it, now its just hanging from the input tube to the res. This has isolated it from the case a little and reduced vibrations/noise. Its still not perfect but its a start. I think i'll stick to this pump for a little longer as it would be a pain to try and fit the d5 in there, it might require raising the res a few inches etc. The biggest problem atm is the HDD, this is unbearable in the hot swap bay, so i'm looking at mounting it in the back of the case as theres a perfect space for it (behind the hot swap enclosure). This will require removing one of the terminal blocks though, and a bit of modding to secure the drive. This may or may not reduce the noise.. Does anyone have experience with this issue on the 800d? As for tubing and liquid, i'm currently looking at replacing it with the following: XSPC HighFlex Hose 1/2" ID, 3/4" OD Mayhems X1 Clear Mayhems X1 - UV Blue Concentrate 250ml I'll fill it up with the clear first and if there are no leaks (had a leak previously) then i'll add the blue if its safe xD More pics to come in the future..
  4. thanks, when i built this the 900D hadn't been released yet (this was at the end of 2012). shortly after the build was finished i watched the video where Linus met the person behind the 800/900d and i must say, i prefer the look of the 800D still so i'm glad i went with this one instead of waiting. Also, you're correct it would have been too big, this one is about the limit for where it is situated. :) The benefit of a 900D though would have been the ability to fit the lower rad without having to cut the case up.
  5. Wow thanks for all the kind replys xD no problems with painting the fans, i just applied a few coats of 'plasti-kote gloss super' and the noise and temps seem fine. I was going to use 'Krylon Fusion' as i saw in some guides, but you cant get that brand in the uk. Doesn't matter though. I like to think that the grey colour of these fans are just a blank canvas :p Thanks for the comment. I think you can rotate the block without a prob, i cant remember exactly. maybe somone knows for sure xD personally i prefered this look though :)
  6. Heres a build log (pictures) of the pc i finished last November. Apologies but most of the pics were taken with a phone (never intended to post them anywhere). This was my first water cooled build and i've learned which things i'd like to change since then. For a start the hard drive needs to be moved out of the hot swap cage provided with the 800d as its verry loud and you hear it reading (clicking) alot. The pump can be changed to a d5 at some point as the ddc is also quiet loud (high pitch and humming). Also i'd like to swap the tubing for blue coloured tubing because i dont like the issue of clouding. I'll keep coloured liquid though, so that it shows in the Reservoir. I'll probably use mayhems x1 blue next time. specs: CASE: Corsair 800D CPU: I7 3770K MOBO: Gigabyte Z77X-UP4 TH RAM: 16gb Corsair dominator platinum 1866mhz GPU: Nvidia GTX 580 HDD: WD Black 2tb SSD: Corsair 240GB Neutron Series GTX PSU: Corsair 850w AX and corsair individually sleeved cables (blue) LIGHTING: Bitfenix white led strip FAN CONTROLLER: lamptron fc6 SOUND: Asus Xonar Essense ST Misc: MULTIMEDIA CONTROLLER: Griffin powermate MONITOR: Asus 24" OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 7 64bit KEYBOARD: Majestouch Tenkeyless (MX brown switches) MOUSE: Razer Deathadder 3g MOUSE MAT: Razer Goliathus HEADPHONES: Sennheiser HD598 WC SPECS: CPU BLOCK: Ek supreme HF GPU BLOCK: EK-FC580 GTX+ and EK FC backplate TOP RAD: EK XTX 360 BOTTOM RAD: EK XTX 240 PUMP: Laing 10W DDC-Pump 12V and an EK TOP FITTINGS: Bitspower RESERVOIR: EK-RES 150 Advanced TUBING: Masterkleer 1/2" ID 1/4"OD (13mm-19mm) COOLANT: mayhems x1 clear and mayhems deep blue dye FANS: 5x Gentle typhoon 1450rpm 1x Corsair AF140 Quiet Edition Some of the first bits and pieces that arrived: One of the gentle typhoons being prepped for painting. I did 5 in total, and also the accent ring on the corsair fan. Just testing the fan after it was painted. This was a terminal block for the fans on the top rad. Just something i was trying out with this build, i wont bother in the future though. i tidied these cables up later. This is just an old mobo that i was using to test fit. I was upset to see these marks on the 580, they were revealed after i removed the stock cooler (twin frozr 2), perhaps this damage explains the unstable experience i've had with this card on high load :( Not included in the final pictures are the power supply and asus sound card that were fitted later. Thats why i left one of the pci covers off ;)
