  1. This was way better than I had expected, this is on par with US pricing. I was expecting at least $150 CAD on top of the exchange rate.
  2. I think LMG needs to stop trying to hotrod their own storage server and just get a proper company to set up an enterprise solution.
  3. There are a way more practical solutions that exist for mobile reporting/livestreaming. Teradek makes a few different small battery powered h264 encoders boxes that you can plug a 4g modem into and broadcast HD video from an HDMI source, they can mount right on a camera. No need for a bulky laptop/capture device/portable battery setup. They even make ones that take multiple 4g modems to bond the feed over multiple mobile carriers.
  4. -My HTC One m7 has a burnt out wifi/bluetooth chip and defective camera. -The reason I switched to the One from iphone 4 originally was for a wider screen for easier typing, now the iphone 6 offers that. -Apple has much better support in Canada, when I broke my One's screen it was a PITA to get it fixed(local shops wouldn't do it) and took way too long from the company that HTC contracts out for repairs. -Build quality, I went with the One because it had a solid build like iphones, I don't want a flimsy feeling phone. -I don't give a crap about phone specs, as long as the screen looks good and it runs smooth with the apps made for it.
  5. What I like about a new M8 HTC One is that the wifi and bluetooth should work unlike on my M7 HTC One that burnt out the wifi/bluetooth chip the other day.
  6. I'm in for 1, going to be a nice upgrade from my aging T2i and it's really shaping up to be the camera I've wanted since DSLR's started shooting video. Love: -all the bitrate options, high(100-200mbps mov) when I need it for post, lower(AVCHD) for long form event stuff. -1080p @96fps slow mo & 1080p60 standard recording(I shoot some hockey & like at least 1/2 speed slow mo as an option in my 29.97 projects) -4k will be nice but mostly for downscaling(supposedly you can downscale 4k 8bit 420 to 2K 10bit 444 and retain all color info) and also 4k reframing in HD projects. -10bit 422 out of HDMI @ 1080 which I can use with the AJA kipros I have access to at work -rugged body (compared to my plastic t2i) -Usable EVF Could be better: -8-bit 4:2:0 recording in cam, would have been nice to see at least 8-bit 422, but with the high bitrate options and the apparent 4k->2k 444 10 bit downscaling I should still be much better off than with my canon. -the YAGH XLR/SDI accessory is likely to cost more than the camera. Seeing as it is doing 4k 422 uncompressed over SDI I can see why it costs so much but it would have been nice to see a second cheaper unit with just 2x XLR, a single 1080 HDSDI and battery powered instead of needing mains power (99% sure I won't get this and if I get something for audio it will probably be a juicedlink) -release date: I've already preordered but can't wait Sensor size isn't a huge issue for me, I wasn't heavily invested in glass for my canon so I won't be doing any adapting, just new lenses starting with the 2.8 12-35mm. I personally don't care for the overuse of extreme shallow depth of field(though agree it can have its place) so I was never looking at moving to full frame, there should still be a lot possible with micro 4/3 for video and it's still a larger sensor than the BM Pocket Cinema Camera.
  7. Battlefield 2 Complete Edition Hitman Absolution I Am Alive Tomb Raider Still waiting for a hot deal on max payne 3.
  8. I have the dell 29" 21:9. Most games do work fine at 2560x1080 with a couple exceptions. Skyrim needs the program flawless widescreen running to fix UI and assassins creed 3 will not do anything other than 16:9 for all screens other than eyefinity/nvidia surround, so it renders 1920x1080 with black bars on the sides. Some games offer the resolution right in the options, others you may need to edit an ini file or use the in game console, usually google already has the answer.
  9. It will probably be a bit of an improvement with going from a mid-range 5x0 to a high end 6x0, however likely not a huge leap. The 6x0 series generally performs worse when you compare similar cards from the 5x0 series (ie 580 vs 680) in Premiere and After Effects. They changed the way the CUDA cores work with the 6x0 series, there are a lot more but they are more optimized for gaming applications. The most noticeable difference would be improved render times for raytraced 3d, which is the only nvidia/cuda specific feature of after effects. I just went from a 570 to a 780 and can't really tell much of a difference in premiere pro.
  10. At least you got some stickers and a manual. My PNY GTX 780 came with a generic pci-e video card install guide, a driver cd that was literally a burnt TDK blank disc (and the drivers on it weren't 780 compatible  ) and a vga adapter. It's all about the card though.
