    Sell or Keep

Out of curiosity, which gaming mouse did you purchase? It'd suck to sell off two G400s for a Naos 5000, for example.

I'm not a fan of site stats, unless you're getting those numbers from elsewhere. I'm seeing 2.3 for the EC1 Evo at 1000hz and 2.7 at 500hz - 470 DPI for both. I'm seeing above 3.0 on Goliathus speed mouse pad. I'm also seeing 2.38 at 1000hz and 450 DPI, as well as 3.36 at 450 DPI, 2.45 at 1150 DPI and 1.56 at 2300 DPI, with those last three being at 250hz. If you're moving your mouse faster than the max tracking speed, but the pointer is moving at the max tracking speed, that would effectively be negative acceleration, would it not?
  3. Spectre Pros are pretty loud. I hadn't heard much about them last time I posted in this (I lurked mainly at SPCR), but since then I've seen at least 3 tests that put them in a distinctly unimpressive light. There was some mighty bad advice being doled out in this thread.

I'd have thought that anything higher than a mouse's max tracking speed would be it's malfunction speed. There's a term used, called "perfect control", which is the maximum speed at which a mouse performs as it should. Now, if there exists speeds between that and a mouse's malfunction speed (and I'm not sure there are), I imagine that's where acceleration would kick in. As it is, I'm not sure you could move the mice I've mentioned fast enough to reach that point, while also remaining in control.

I don't know about those specs, but supposedly the Ikari has under half the malfunction speed of the A3090 (1.5 meters a second compared to somewhere around high 3.X to low 4.X). This conversation's reaching the limits of my knowledge, but apparently it's advisable to avoid multi-colour mousemats for the AM due to the combination of sensor and lens causing jitter and lower malfunction speed. I'm not sure what other mice this might apply to though.
  6. Too much? I'd consider the FT02/RV02, but out of the choices you've presented I'd go with the 650D. The C70 has an ugly window and looks slightly silly, while the Switch, as awesome as it is, has the tackiest plastic aesthetic ever. There's also the new Fractal Arc Midi R2 coming out which has a side-window, but that's not available just yet. It should be popping up relatively nowish, though.

As my comment implied, my initial reply was in response to your pre-edit post. That's what your words had asked, even though I was pretty sure that *you* hadn't. The Zowies should be the same as everything else except the Razers, since it uses the same sensor (A3090).

I think it would probably still affect anything where clicking accuracy comes into play. RTS', ARPGs and MOBAs to an extent...
  9. - Price/Material. It's very rare to find a case made out of said material being sold so cheap...Cheaper than most of the cases I see recommended here. - Looks. The material certainly helped here. I much prefer classy cases to the cheesy ones. - Layout. This is the give-away...Inverted ATX, back-to-front airflow and the PSU's mounted in the front. More than anything else, this is why I picked the case I did. It's so unusual. I love it.

In response to your edit, here's a list of mice I'd recommend, in no particular order... Razer Deathadder Logitech G400 Zowie AM Zowie EC1 Evo Roccat Savu R.A.T. 3 Razer Krait 2013 CM Storm Spawn CM Storm Recon All of those are free from acceleration and angle snapping. As far as when they happen, angle snapping will occur, I presume, whenever you move the mouse in an almost vertical or horizontal line. Acceleration can happen whenever you move the mouse above a certain speed (depends on the mouse).
  11. That's not a lot of performance per $, that's a lot of performance for $. The PSU, the RAM, the motherboard and the HDD are all way more than you need. Three 7950s can run on 850w, easy. You can get 2133mhz cas 10 RAM via Samsung Green (comes clocked low, overclocks sky high), the motherboard...You're not a workstation, or are you? And the HDD...why the velociraptor when you have an SSD? Maybe if you're recording at higher than 1080p, but otherwise? http://linustechtips.com/main/forum/the-workbench/new-builds-and-planning/66259-build-plan-thread-reccomendations-please-read-before-posting Read that and let us know what this computer's for.
  12. I'd recommend making this thread when the parts you want are available.
  13. Reasoning for the PSU and motherboard? I'd knock the PSU down to a 550w Rosewill Hive / 520w Seasonic M12II and the motherboard to something closer to $100 (the Biostar TZ77XE3/XE4 are good, but you could probably go cheaper still).
  14. The vast majority of games that worked on Windows 7 work on Windows 8. The one or two that may have issues tend to be somewhat obscure titles.
  15. As helltech says, go for Spectres over Spectre Pros, but also consider Silentwings 2 (in the US and Canada early Feb) and the Noiseblocker BlackSilent PRO PK-1/PK-2.
  16. Sorry for the late reply. I only just rediscovered pages 3 and 4 of this thread. I often look at the latest review just so I have the respective site's full list of dB measurements, but other than that clicking was just an example. A high hum can be the same volume as a low woosh to a dB meter and a lot of sites throw around words like "silent" and "nigh-inaudible" for noises that simply don't qualify. Point is, a dB rating is a good initial filter, but two fans at say, 28dB, can sound very different.
  17. Newegg and NCIX will be getting them near the beginning of February.
  18. We have something similar to this in some other forums I visit. It's also pretty helpful to know if they're reusing any parts, whether they want crossfire/sli and to what extent they'll be overclocking, if any.

Most mouse sensors have an inherent amount of either positive acceleration, negative acceleration or both, which means moving the mouse the same distance at different speeds will cause the pointer to move a different distance across the screen. A lot of people don't notice it, but it's one of the few objective measures of a mouse and is most problematic for FPS players, for whom precision is obviously paramount. I've been wondering a lot recently whether the people who don't notice it would find themselves doing better with an accurate mouse.

No, acceleration isn't a result of hitting the malfunction speed. They're two entirely separate things. As for your questions they seem slightly strangely worded, but I'll try to answer them. 1 - No. Some sensors have a very high malfunction speed, but have acceleration at very low speeds. If you want the most accurate mouse you can get, you need a mouse with an S3888, S3988 or A3090 sensor. 2 - Why would you want angle snapping? I think you can switch it on for some mice in the firmware, but given your situation I wouldn't have thought it was desirable...
  21. The closest parallel to rubber dome and mechanical keyboards is laser and optical sensors. Optical came first and tends to be better, yet most flagship mice have laser sensors put into them due to being able to market "laser sensor!", which sounds a lot more impressive than "optical sensor!" Hence, you have cheaper mice like the Logitech G400 being more accurate than the G500/G600/G700, the Razer Deathadder being more accurate than the Mamba/Ouroboros/Taipan/Naga, the Roccat Savu being more accurate than the Kone, the CM Storm Spawn being more accurate than the Sentinel/Inferno, the Cyborg R.A.T. 3 being more accurate than the R.A.T. 5/7/9/MMO and a budget company like Zowie who's entire line (edit: only half of their entire line, my bad) is more accurate than the majority of Logitech's and Razer's mice. You even have Razer's new Krait 2013 which is identical to the Taipan, but smaller...and it's a better mouse, because they put in a better optical sensor than the laser one in it's bigger brother. The sole exception so far is CM Storm's new Recon mouse. CM Storm tends to be pretty good at giving gamers what they ask for, hence the reason they're now bringing out their fifth and sixth mech keyboards with their entire line offering at least 3 different switches per model, while some companies are just bringing out their first, sometimes with only a single switch (Corsair, Logitech, Roccat...) Other than that? Trackballs seem to have some fans, but gamers obviously prefer the traditional mouse due to the type of control it gives them. Some people also believe mice should be leaning to the right (for right-handers, anyway), in the same way "ergonomic" mice do. If you search for the Handshoe mouse or Evoluent mouse in Google, you'll see what I mean. It's a more natural position for the hand, but again it decreases control for gaming, so maybe somewhere in the middle might be good?
  22. Things don't get much larger than the those. Check out the Deathadder, Zowie EC1 and Microsoft Optical mice. They're the only ones that might be a bit longer.
  23. If you're content to wait a while, I'd do so. I certainly don't expect the cherry blue drought to continue...
  24. Pretty sure the cheapo Duckys aren't on par with the DK-9008s/Shines, in terms of BQ.
  25. Aside from the Duckys... http://www.keyboardco.com/ Filcos there for £95-£105. The Blackwidow is fine, so long as you get the Tournament or 2013 edition. I have no idea where all the cherry blue keyboards went though. There's something fishy going on...The only other one I can find is a MK-80 at CCL Computers and Novatech.
