Pandacake reacted to PumaXCS in Predator XB1
The two monitors offer very different experiences. What is it you normally do on the PC?
Obligatory, don't buy the X34, ACER has bad QC.

Isn't Ambivision VGA support only? That shouldn't cut into the wire bandwidth so, if you can find the correct wire that supports it I don't why it would interfere.
If you ever do a review on that, @ me. Always been interested in those light kits for an addition to the HTPC uses.

Pandacake reacted to Captain_WD in SSD and HDD Management
Hey there Pandacake, SSDs have higher transfer speeds and shorter access times. Certain types of things can benefit a lot from this, others not that much, still others don't benefit at all. Putting the OS on the SSD is recommended as the whole system would become much more responsive and would feel much smoother. Gaming on the other hand does not rely on the storage's performance for anything else besides the loading times and the autosaves. FPS and graphics are not affected at all. Some applications might take advantage of its performance so I'd check which ones can do it and put them with the OS onthe SSD. I would leave everything else for the HDD. Captain_WD. -

May improve fps by like 0.00000000001
It just boots up faster, opens files faster ,ect.
Yes, you install the OS on your SSD
then just plug in your other drives through sata

Pandacake reacted to Streetguru in Skylake?
CPU mostly, but there's a number of things you can do for GPU accelerated capture to lessen the load on the CPU like using DXtory with Open Broadcaster
Otherwise unless you're trying to capture some raw 4k footage or something crazy you can just record straight to any old hard drive
Bandicam is a pretty solid software that I use, but that's for non streaming capture, you also gotta go through the back alley to get it free or pay 40 bucks

If the price difference isn't much then go for skylake, otherwise save money and stick to haswell.
And an IPS 144hz panel is going to set you back a lot
Just get a Free-sync capable display and maybe pick up an IPS panel later
Or if this monitor is avalible in your region get it, it's VA so it's in the middle of IPS and TN, and it can do 120Hz at 1080p, in addition to free-sync

M8 please use https://pcpartpicker.com/ next time but the jump to skylake is worth it if you want more future proofing and if you are using newer instruction-sets with video editing or rendering as skylake does better with new instructions sets. It is not too worth it but if your budget fits, you should get it.

nope, skylake offers no real benefits over haswell, especially when you take price to performance into account

Acrylic OVERLOAD
Q: What is you're favorite Graphics card of all time?
Oh, an i'd love the 280L, the helicopter-esque sound of my stock AMD cooler when my FX-6350 is at full load is ungodly

Yes, probably, there always comes a patch, now, what if next ubishit game won't have a way to get around it like the insane drm they put on their games.

Oh also just saying that that G3258 could overclock on a potato if you needed it to. It breaks just about every habit of Intel's for years, in a good way.
And in gaming it is very good... when it works. And the reasons it might not work are shitty oversights and poor optimisations. Far Cry 4 doesn't even use more than one core, yet just does not start on less than a quad core (or i3) due to artificial limitations. This isn't a limitation of the CPU, but bullshit pulled by companies like Ubisoft.

Pentium is better, if there weren't the 4 core ban.
860K is not better in any way shape or form even on LN2 cooling.
FX 6300 is also not better because in order to win out versus i3 you need much more expensive supporting hardware - decent mobo + cooler.
i3+h81 is the sensible option for budget pc, all the orther ones have some kind of advantage or a drawback where as i3 is perfectly balanced.
Yes, it will run those games, the cheapest one, like i3 4150.

Pandacake reacted to StarFire in 1080p 30 fps budget pc.
Ignore the i3 suggestions, please.
Pentium AE > i3
860k > i3
FX 6300 > i3
all 3 cheaper, & just as fast or faster.
then again... I'm an overclocking fangirl....
and somewhat of an AMD fangirl...
But anyway.
a 270 will give you 1080P 45FPS, by the way
I'd personally go for 900P 60FPS.
then again... I got twitchy eyes... Ugh... Crysis @ 22FPS... WHY?
Just ignore me now.... lol
Yeah....

Pandacake reacted to ZetZet in 1080p 30 fps budget pc.
i3 is 4 threaded so it runs all the 4 core restricted games.

Don't buy sexy mobo, get a simple one like H81M-HDS and an i3. Pentium has only two cores and some games block dual cores.

270 and 280 will do way better than 30fps. Just saying.
