  1. Little background - 1155 socket i5-2400 with asrock h67m-ge board. I tried putting in a new mobo/cpu cooler. Had issues, mobo had bent pins and didn't work so I put the old mobo back in. Still didn't work so I put the old cooler back in (the noctua barely fit and I think it was screwing things up) and after a lot of random nonsense - wifi not working, pc not turning on with both hard drives in only 1, etc. I finally got it all back to normal. EXCEPT cpu usage is always at 100% according to task manager. pc is running fine, msi afterburner is saying usage is around 20% with netflix and chrome up which seems fine. What's up with task manager?
  2. I just put a new intel dp67bg motherboard and noctua nh-d14 cpu cooler in my rig. One of the prongs was bent a little but I bent it back and the cpu dropped in just fine. I5-2400 1155 socket, I had to push down real hard when I tightened down the cooler but it seemed to be on fine. It's also touching the ram that was the only way I could make it work. It turns on for a few seconds, the memory led goes solid but cpu led keeps blinking and the I get the 1c error code which is the PEI thing according to the manual and then it shuts off. Any ideas?
  3. I figured it out. There was a bent pin on the socket so the cpu wasn't making full contact.
  4. So I just built a new computer and I'm having either display problems or power problems I'm not quite sure. Specs are: MSI H55M-E33 motherboard, core i7 860, corsair cs550m, noctua nh-l9i, radeon 5770, and I have a few different types of ram. A couple 2gb pc3-10600 and a couple 2gb pc3-8500. So the problem I'm having is very very odd and unheard of for me: When I first powered it on there was no graphics output. I switched to an old radeon 3400 series and made sure every cord was plugged in and everything was tight and tried again. It took about 20 tries of me turning it on and turning it off by holding the power button down which is not good but I had to because just pressing it did nothing for some reason... but finally it just worked. I had my ram in the second and fourth slot and I was using the pc3-8500 ram. So I went into bios checked cpu temps checked a bunch of stuff and everything looked great, I saved and exited and restarted the computer, no display again. I tried about 20 more times and the weird thing is whenever I turned it off a lot of different things happened, sometimes I heard a click in the psu, sometimes I didn't, sometimes I would turn it on and it would turn right back off and right back on a few times, it was just doing a lot fo weird things. I finally turned it off, made sure all connections were tight again, turned it back on, and I had display. So I installed windows and everything was looking good and when I restarted, nothing. No display. Seems like every time I restart the computer it stops working. I haven't had a chance to try a legit shutdown yet I've only tried restarts but that was going to be my next step, but I haven't been able to get it working at all now I've tried everything probably 50 times and nothing worked at all. What could this possibly even be? I searched forums high and low and this seems unheard of, so I could really use some help. Thanks
  5. Wasn't sure where to put this because it could be the gpu, monitor, drivers, mobo, who knows, but here's the problem: My friend just got a MSI Z87-G45 mobo and am i7 4790. He's using his old gtx 480. Everything is plugged in like it should be but there's no graphic output from the mobo or gpu, dvi, hdmi, vga, nothing. We ruled out the cpu because he can hear it working and it takes a few seconds to shut off so we know something is loading up, and the cpu fan runs fast when he first starts it then slows like it should. He's tried with one stick of ram and no ram, he's tried different monitors, and he's tried all connections with/without the gpu in. I think he may have to update bios but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. A picture without the card is included.

    Noctua NH-D14

I just ordered a noctua nh-d14, I've done a lot of research and looked up a lot of videos but I just wanted to know if there was anything I should know about installing it just to be sure, cause it's better to hear from experienced people talking straight to me than just videos and reviews. I'm installing on an AM3+ socket, so anything that I should definitely know about installing it would be very helpful, or even a good installation video on AMD cause all of the good ones I found were on intel. Thanks!
  7. super_skank: I don't know what to set them to or how to set the timings levent: what should I set the voltage to?
  8. I tried changing "turbo" to "normal" and it still didn't work at 8.00, maybe I have to set it at extreme for 8.00? There is normal, turbo, and extreme. I don't want to try it though until I know it's safe so if somebody could please let me know that would be helpful!
  9. Bad2049: I have them installed in 1 and 2, so they are working correctly in dual channel mode.
  10. First off, I KNOW my motherboard supports up to 2133 and this is only 1600, next I KNOW this is 1600 so I see no reason why it's not working. I have the gigabyte ga 990fxa-ud3 motherboard and 16gb (2x8) Kingston Hyperx blu. So, when I go into bios and set the multiplier to 8.00 which is 1600MHz and then try to boot this shows up. 1st, I'm confused as to why it says 4200MHz because I didn't touch CPU clock speed and as you'll see in the next picture it says it's running at the regular 3.6GHz. But the main problem is the ram: as you can see in that picture it still says 1339 (it varies from 1333 and up when I set it to 8.00) and when I go back into bios it says everything looks ok, ram is at 1339 and cpu is at 3600 as you'll see in the next picture but here's my problem: it's still running at 6.67 (1334) You can see it's at 6.67 which is 1334 but I have it set to 8.00 which is 1600. Why isn't it running at 1600? My guess is that I have to do something with voltage too, but I'm not sure, I thought I just had to change the multiplier and that was it. So it of course wouldn't boot as shown in the first picture and I changed it back to auto which set it to 1334 and it booted just fine. I'll also add a picture of that: that's when it boots up correctly. So is there something wrong with the ram? Or am I doing something wrong? Or what? Any help would be appreciated because I'd really like my ram to be running at full potential! Thanks :)
  11. I think I have ghosting on my monitor but I'm not sure, I looked at like 2 other forums and saw some pictures and it looks like it's when you look through a camera at the monitor and it gives you those lines. Mine does, can I fix it? If I'm wrong about it though which I definitely could be then please explain what it is! Thanks!
