Hello people, I thought maybe it was time to start a build log for this puppy, after I've held off doing much with it (for various reasons) for an embarrassingly long time.

I originally received the MBX MKII in December of 2016. For various reasons it was stuck in storage for a long time though, and I only finished building a basic build in it in October last year. But rather than dwell on the past, I'm focusing on now - I have a lot of time, and I've mostly sorted out my things here after a recent move. So now we're building, albeit somewhat in steps. For one, I'm still working to afford a few more watercooling parts before I put it under water.

Before we move to pictures, let's throw in the specs:
    CPU: Intel i7 5820k
    Mobo: Asus Sabertooth X99
    RAM: 32GB (4x8GB) G.Skill Value 2400MHz C15
    GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 FTW
    PSU: EVGA Supernova G3 750w
    SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 1TB
    HDD: WD Green 3TB

    Update: The build is done!

Okay, we're getting there. Some of the watercooling is coming together.

And today, we take a look at the end result of stripping down the case and doing small things all over the place. Now I just have to decide on my tubing runs and all that fun stuff.

Due to unforeseen circumstances (read: indecision) I need a bit more time than I anticipated. Oh well! Here's picture of radiator fans in the meanwhile.

Well, finally time for an update. Sorry for being slow. I've been tinkering with making it in CAD, since I'm broke af.

Now that was a decent starting point, but I kept working on it. A general concept I'm liking is this:

Hello everyone, we're starting a new project now that the MKII is done... Specifically because I tripped over a beauty on the used market.

The Level 10. I bought it from a fella in Nodeland, which sounds like such a cool place I'm naming the build after it...

To start with today, we've got a simple mod installed.

So I guess this is kind of a "weird story" but here it is...

First I somehow ended up buying a 3 Node server with each node having 2xAMD Hexacores + 24GB RAM

Then I bought a Server Rack, and when I picked it up I got a 2U server + a UPS with it for free

I guess I gotta make that homelab then

I am not yet sure how the setup is going to be, but I have at least temporarily dropped my first thought which was esxi and I am looking into proxmox atm.

    Storage:
    ATM:

    3x Seagate 2TB Drives
    3x WD 3TB Surveillance drives
    1x 8TB long term drive
    1x 4TB WD Red
4x 250GB SSD's (Might add two more or trade them for 800GB drives)
    Looking into adding 4x 6TB WD Red's

Is this something you want to see or not?
Please let me know if you want to see this buildlog, and comment if there is something you are wondering about

    Current status:

Waiting for electricians to wire the room where the rack is (could have done it myself, but Norwegian laws are quite strict)

    Meanwhile/current pics:
This is the server I got for free (Haven't even checked specs, only know it works and it has a Xeon (4 core 8 thread if I remember correct))
On the right you can see the UPS I got

Here is the 3 node server (those are 3x250GB SSD's on top of it)

The Server Rack in the room that it will be placed in, I have taken off some panels, I don't know if I am going to keep it this way or put them back on

It's not going to stay in that position though, it is just temporary for storage.

I am also going to do a bit of a network upgrade

This is the router I have, and will be staying with:
My plan is to at least have 1 24 Port switch

This is two Ubiquiti AC AP's and a toughswitch.

    Screenshot of UniFi software:

I also have 2 of these point to point units that I don't know if I'm going to use for something yet.

Today has been a long day. I've taken apart the MKII almost entirely, sleeved cables and rebuilt it. I've put waterblocks on my cards. I've tapped the screws for the P-clips in the back. I've improved the cable management. But light's out. So I can only really show a little bit of the journey right now, from when I took pictures of the main "structure".

    Damn it, missed again!

2 products today then. Did not get to unpack the accessory for the fans, it will come later, but I picked it up plus a few other things.

Todays products: ALPS 1.44MB floppy drive and a matching round Belkin cable!

I know this is tech way older than 2013, but in all my machines, if I at some point want to use a floppy for running an older OS, emulators and whatnot, then this is my oldest and biggest machine - so I have space and it is not totally out of place
