  1. Thanks for the response. the problem I’m having is different - my GPU is showing a process transcoding Plex but the CPU is apparently doing the work. At first GPU transcoding worked great, but now I have this problem.
  2. Hi all. I recently upgraded my Unraid server with a 2080 super for Plex transcoding, now when I play a movie from my Plex library the GPU shows 1 process but it looks like the CPU doing all the work (abut 60-70% use), the results is when transcoding the movie pauses with a prompt that the server isn’t powerful enough to play that file. What I’m I missing?
  3. Installed a 2080 super last night and it resolved my problem. Now Plex transcode’s on GPU and everything works great.
  4. Parity check in unraid can be 10-12 hours long.
  5. Looks like a good CPU, but it doesn’t appear on Intel’s site and there is not much information about it which scares me a little. The main problem I have is when the Unraid OS does a parity check Plex becomes unusable du to poor CPU performance, is it better to put a 2080 super I have for Plex transcoding instead of upgrading the CPU?
  6. It runs unraid and I use it mostly for Plex, when the server does a parity check Plex becomes unusable do to low performance from the CPU, plus I’d like to spin up a VM. I have a spare 2080 super that I don’t use, will it be better to buy the Plex pass and transcode on the GPU instead of upgrading the CPU?
  7. Hi all. I’m planning on upgrading my NAS and stumbled upon an Xeon e5 2686 v4, I can’t find any info on intel’s website and was wondering if anyone here can help me understand if it’s a good replacement for an E5 2620 v4, or should I get some other version?
  8. This post saved my life thank you very very much
  9. Do I really need hyperthreding for my use case?, and does it justify 250 dollars more?
  10. Hi all. I'm building a gaming / photoshop / illustrator pc, and will like to hear your thoughts and segregation on a list of components: CPU: Intel Core i7 9700K CPU Cooling: Noctua NH-D15 Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 UD VS Gigabyte Z390 M RAM: HyperX FURY Black 2x16GB DDR4 3466MHz CL16 Kit Graphics card: Gigabyte RTX 2080 SUPER GAMING OC 8GB GDDR6 Or wait for nvidia 3000 series? Storage: Corsair Force MP510 PCIe NVMe M.2 2280 960GB X2 Power supply: Corsair 750W 80+ Gold RM750x Case: Corsair iCUE 465X RGB Tempered Glass Mid Tower I know it is a little over kill for 1080p gaming but i plan to upgrade my monitor to 1440p/4k in the future. And i generally not planing to upgrade (the pc) beyond that for the next 6-8 years. Thanks for the feedback!
