EposVox reacted to LinusTech in (UPDATED - Claim has been removed) The Linux Gamer's response video to LTT got claimed by Fullscreen
This is an excellent explanation of how these things work.

I'd like to add that as long as the creator who gets the automated claim disputes it in a timely manner, there is no lost revenue during the period while it was "claimed".

I've been down at IBM Think for the last couple of days and this thread is the first I'm hearing of this issue.. Aaaand it's already resolved.

So, as far as I can tell, everything is working as it should...ish

We have noticed a significant uptick in copyright claims in the last couple of weeks, though, with some of them being in really really old content which suggests youtube has made some kind of change to ContentID and we've been trying to figure out how to address it.

We are generally pretty supportive of the creation of derivative works by our community and we want to make sure that they aren't being algorithmically claimed, but this change has caused other issues for us too. I woke up the other morning to a handful of claims made against Tech Quickie by LTT... Can't have that.

I'm sure this will be resolved, but it's probably going to take some time for youtube to get their crap in order, as usual.

I have heard it actually does the opposite of helping you, because you willingly admitted you know you were breaking copyright law, but you uploaded it anyways.

EDIT: when you would get sued that is

Nothing you put in a video description will protect you from consequences of breaking copyright law. If you actually do have license to use music/content, that does need to go there, but stating that you don't have license does nothing. A lawyer won't stop from suing you if it somehow got that far, and it won't protect you from automated or deliberate Content ID claims nor Copyright Strikes to your account.

Claiming "I don't own copyright blah blah" doesn't do anything to protect you from consequences of breaking the rules and just makes you look like a fool.

Pretty much everything in the 2.1 spec will require new TVs, output devices, etc. It'll be a while before we see this fully implemented - especially since most TVs don't even have the per-region light change ability to fully keep up with normal HDR properly.

I ALWAYS recommend installing VirtualBox and making a virtual machine of Linux and spending a LOT of time in it and learning it to decide if this is the move you actually want to make before dual booting or anything.

So... the other flagships from this year?
LG G6, Google Pixel, HTX U11, Sony Xperia XZ, iPhone 7, OnePlus 5

Usually a pretty consistent list every year.

Replacing a phone 3 times for charging issues would leave me to believe there's a problem with the person charging it and not the phone.

It's a compatibility problem in that he chose a backplate from Cooler X to use with Cooler Z. Not a cooler to motherboard problem.
The cooler you buy will come with its own backplate and fit just fine with your motherboard. The only thing you need to look for is socket compatibility (AM3, LGA 1366, etc.).

They are manufactured to Intel or AMD's strict standards. The back plate will fit to the board you want, as long as it came with the cooler you buy and fits to the socket you're using.

He was using parts from two completely different coolers and hacking them together. That's the only reason he ever needed to saw up a backplate.
Unless you have some obscure old or server motherboard (and even then you'd probably be fine), any cooler you go and buy for your CPU mount will fit your motherboard just fine. There are no compatibility concerns there. They come with all of the appropriate mounting hardware you need.

Linus likes to make a mess of things for videos, that's not how normal hardware assembly with new products plays out.

It's legit. Buying a single-port card from an old server stays pretty cheap. I got 2 Mellanox ones on EBay for $43 and they work great. So should be fine. You'll need a SFP+ cable. It can be $25 itself
