  1. That sure is a nice board but its $529.99 Cdn via Memory Express, they will price match to $504.46 as another online dealer has it at that price. It is tempting for sure but I think I will stay in the $400 range for now, plus I do not want to install more RGB software than I have to lol. So far I have it setup so I can use ONLY iCue to control everything. I will have to think about it for sure.
  2. Ya thats what I've been thinking too, it has more positives over the Asus, I am doing a white (or as close to white as I can get) build, the GPU will end up not being white most likely anyways because I do not want to spend a premium just for white lol. This build is already costing me quite a hefty price and I don't even have a GPU selected yet. It is going to be between the 7900XTX or 4080. The GPU is going to hurt so much to purchase.
  3. I am currently building a new PC and I will be getting a 13700KF, 64GB DDR5-6000 Ram and one of these 2 motherboards but I do not know which one I should get. Asus Prime Z790-A MSI Pro Z790-A I am leaning towards the Asus as it will match the theme of the PC a bit better but the MSI has a couple features I like more. Also the Asus is currently on backorder but the MSI is in stock. Thanks
  4. Ya it's 1600mhz ram as well. Just never taken dual channel kits and used them in triple channel systems. I guess it's all pretty much the same ram just put into dual or triple channel kits.
  5. Hello everyone, I have a rather strange question about some ram. I have an OLDER X58 based system and I currently have 3x4gb Gskill F3-12800CL9-4GBRL sticks installed in triple channel mode and have found that 12GB ram just isn't cutting it anymore and I have come across a kit of 2x4GBx2 F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL. I will only be needing to use 3 or the 4 sticks but I wanted to double check to see if anyone else has done something similar. This system did have at one time 2 different sets of ram with different timings and speeds to which they defaulted to the lower one and worked fine so I am pretty sure they will work. Thanks
  6. Any cheap keyboard will work for now until you can get something better, I would invest in a good mouse first. Do you want wired or wireless?
  7. Sounds like its time to reinstall Windows, lol. I would say uninstall video drivers with DDU. Use Afterburner to monitor GPU and CPU usages. So many things could be causing it. Also you could try doing a clean boot which disables all non essential programs. Here is how to do it, its from logitech but that was just first google result. https://support.logitech.com/en_us/article/228
  8. I would recommend the fastest ram you can get for the board and 16GB not 8GB. That board supports up to 2666mhz ram, not sure if OC to 3000 is compatible or not.
  9. Yes you can use a Windows 7 key for Windows 10 install.
  10. So I remembered see a few years ago an article about Nvidia and AMD cards in a system working together with DX12 to render a game/benchmark and after doing a quick search I came across this article and also a video of someone doing the Ashes Bench with an AMD Fury and some Nvidia card. They showed that it actually worked but the video was not very good in explaining how they did it or it is actually works with other games or benchmarks. I think Linus did a video a while back similar to this but do not recall if it was done with DX12. Here is the original article I saw. https://hexus.net/tech/news/graphics/87554-radeon-geforce-gpus-tested-working-together-dx-12/ Here is the video https://venturebeat.com/2016/03/18/heres-a-pc-running-amd-and-nvidia-video-cards-at-the-same-time/ What got me thinking about this was No Mans Sky. The game runs horrible on AMD video cards, although a handful of people have claimed they got it working and even digital foundry had descent results, but for the vast majority of the AMD users the game is almost a slideshow (me included). I wondered, what if I had an Nvidia card too that could take advantage of the way the game is coded to make the game play smoother, now whether it uses only the Nvidia card or both, but having 2 cards might be a good thing since some games work better with X brand over Y brand and vise versa. Would be interesting to see if Linus can replicate the results and try out many different titles to see if it truly does work.
