One of the stores I regularly go to doesn't even have scanners anymore at the checkout. You scan items while you're in the store with an app, or alternatively with a scanner you can get at the entry. Makes shopping really relaxing and quick.

Might be because I'm on Android 14 QPR1 Beta 3. It really doesn't. I'd rather use Edge on Win11 than on Android, but either way, I keep using Chrome on both. It simply works.
  15. New EU regulations have come into effect today, which means my Pixel 8 Pro reset my default browser and search engine settings and asked me to pick new ones.

Here is what I'm able to choose.

Well yeah of course. Unfortunately that doesn't make the situation any better tho. that guy should immediately lose his license.
  20. They caught this idiot in his red Mercedes doing 197kph with only 21 meters of distance between him and the car in front.

In just 30 minutes the police caught 62 drivers not keeping a safe distance.

I think at least half of the people driving today don't know how to drive safely and most of them ignore safety distances.

if that guy was going 200 I assume the guy in front was going at least 180, otherwise that would have been a guaranteed crash with nowhere to swerve to for the mercedes 😛

The bus driver I go to work with does this constantly. Even blinks and beeps at cars and overtakes cars anywhere regardless if there is overtaking allowed or not as long as there is nothing incoming towards us. And I don't mean he just overtakes over full lanes. I mean he does this: (red is the direction we go and green is how he overtakes)

that guy should immediately lose his license.

You didn't understand my point. You were making the point that SUVs were fun to drive. I'm telling you that no one ever bought an SUV for fun, because no one cares about that in an SUV. And that is what I meant with no one cares about SUVs. They're just like any other car, but in a shitty tall chassis. And on top of that no one does care in Germany about towing or load capacity. Again, if they were, they'd get a Sprinter, which is shorter than a Cayenne with a Trailer and much much cheaper. If you actually take your SUV off road, cool, I bet there are dozens of you. In Germany no one does. Literally no one and no one tows more than 1-2t with a car here. If you want to get shit done here, you rent an appropriate car for the job. The vehicles I listed, I didn't list because they are particular good at towing or going off-road. Again, you didn't understand my point.

You know that SUVs are not the only ones that can tow that much because they're SUVs, right? Also, who cares? A Mercedes Sprinter can carry 3-5.5 tones without a trailer. If you want to carry shit around, get an appropriate machine for the job. No one here takes these seriously. The Cayenne in particular is about as interesting as a Golf. No one drives them for fun, because everyone that has one, also has a fun sports car for actual driving. The only reason people buy them is because it's easier for them to get in and out of the car, their wives love SUVs for some reason and they're often heavily discounted. My neighbour has two garages, but his Cayenne is always outside and he recently said "I hope the stupid thing gets stolen". My dad used to own a new V10 Touareg and was happy to go back to an A8. It just felt more composed, more comfortable, and is easier to drive he said. My uncle a few years ago bought a GLE and said it was one of the worst decisions he ever made. He sold it just a year later and replaced it with a 540d Touring. He even said that he should've kept his Tesla Model S instead of that GLE and that even his old 250 SL drove better than the GLE. So TL;DR: No one cares about the boring SUVs you mentioned, especially not in my country. Fantastic, but the average person in Germany does not care when they're paying 30-45ct a KW/h. We rather continue to burn Diesel and harm the environment. We have already done more for the environment than many countries will ever do in the next 50 years. The people are sick and tired of hearing about the environment, as saving it has effectively ruined our economy in the last 5 years. Regarding your math, yeah that checks out, but not in my country. As I said, 30-45ct a KW/h. "According to the manufacturer". As proven by every single car review website and magazine on the planet, these numbers are always inflated. Btw. the current gen Golf 8 with the 1.5L TDI can do ~1250km at 4L/100km when driving really conservatively. (I've tried it personally when I drove from Mannheim to Berlin and back.) Also, do your diesel cars use adblue? It's mandated here in Germany for environmental reasons.
