  1. So basically, I have a XFX 5700 XT Thicc III Ultra. It works fabulously. But I have always had driver issues. System would hang, then all screens would go black. System would then return to normal after a few seconds. So I clean uninstalled all graphics drivers with AMDs utility, and then I tried the Radeon™ Pro Software for Enterprise driver, version 20.Q4. I was just curious if the pro version had the same issue. It's been about a month now and I have not experienced the issue again. I have no idea why it works, but it seems to work for me. Any questions feel free to ask.
  2. So I have been using a hackintosh based off a MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming motherboard with a 4770k for quite a while now. No major issues, works just fine, except for one weird glitch that happens every so often. All of my motherboards USB ports will stop working and stuff thats plugged into them like my keyboard and mouse act like they are not receiving enough power. The lights flicker and such. Stuff like thumb drives or my headset also stop working. Removing and plugging back in devices does not work. There is one exception though. I have a USB 3.0 hub that will continue to work after the glitch happens and I can plug stuff into it. Which is lucky because thats the only way I can plug in a keyboard to shut down the computer properly without holding the power button down or something similar. The only way I have found to fix it is to power cycle the computer. Simply rebooting does not clear it. I have also noticed that if I open the app store or the software update window the glitch will happen about 75% of the time. It rarely happens besides that. This has never happened while using Windows and has persisted across multiple fresh installs of MacOS, various drives, Sata ports, version of mac, ect. It does not happen enough that I don't want to use the machine under MacOS and I generally just tolerate it. But it just happened at an unfortunate moment while playing a game and compelled me to make this post. It's a real headscratcher to me. I have no idea what could be the source of it so I figured I would share and see if anyone has some insight. Thanks.

  4. If anyone out there wants to try this I have 2 E5430 Xeons you can have if you pay for shipping. I got em a while back for a server pc I picked up but they were the wrong chips for the motherboard. Just send me a message or something if you want them.
  5. I think the first video I watched from LTT was this one about the Steelseries WoW mouse a few years ago when I was researching various mice and trying to figure out what to buy. Since then I have watched close to all your content. You guys do an amazing job on all your videos keep up the good work!
  6. Pretty tasty deal on newegg atm. Intel 730 480Gb SSD 25% off with promocode PCINTEL730 ends 9/7. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167192
  7. This is a point, but the fact still stands that they use them. Regardless if it is just for the "image" as you put it or some other reason. Is it the best choice from a cost stand point? Probably not. I'm not arguing for or against using them. Just stating that a $1000 iMac would have a logical use somewhere like in the case of this bank.
  8. But have you though about the situation where a business bases all their work off Apple computers? As an example, my local bank uses all iMacs in their branches most likely because of the internal software and programs they use. Could it be done with windows based PCs? Yes. But they choose to use Macs. So, when they go to open a new branch or need new computers, this $1000 iMac will save them money.
  9. Would love to have this phone. My current Droid Razr Maxx is starting to get very sluggish and i have been waiting for my contract to expire to get a new phone.
  10. We have some solid insight finally to what a non-reference 290x can do!! http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/ASUS-Radeon-R9-290X-DirectCU-II-Graphics-Card-Review/Overclocking-and-Conclus http://www.overclock3d.net/articles/gpu_displays/asus_r9_290x_dcii_oc_first_look/1
  11. This happened 5 years ago when my buddy played L4D for the first time. Its a recording of vent while he was playing single player. Warning, strong language.
  12. http://imgur.com/h2aVxVZ A quick prime 95 run results in 79c for a max and ~32-40 idle. I ran prime 95 for 9 hours at my current settings when I OCed originally and I think the hottest it ever got during that was 82c. I know its kinda hot but its not like im running it at 100% 24/7 so im not worried. My particular chip seems to be a Vcore whore so I have the Vcore set pretty high to maintain 4.8Ghz. I can get past 5.0Ghz if I set it to 1.5+ on the Vcore but its not stable enough for anything other then logging into windows and checking CPU-Z. But is perfectly happy at 4.8Ghz all day long. Check my signature for details on specs.
  13. Turn off Cool and Quiet in your bios and set your Vcore to 1.4 but keep everything else stock then run Prime 95 and see what happens. Stock Vcore is ~1.375 depending on your chip. Boosting it to 1.4 will attempt to keep it more stable. If your still getting errors in Prime after this either your chip or mobo is screwed. I would lean more towards a mobo defect though. The 8350 is a power sucker and even more so if you overclock it. Mine at 4.8Ghz is running at 1.475v and my idle temps are around 40c with my Kraken x60. You have something very odd going on if your temps are never going above 30c.
  14. I chose my current card, AMD 7970, due to the fact I am currently using a AMD based system. My previous card was a 560 Ti. And the card before that was a 4670. I really have no allegiance to either side. When I was picking my new card, I had a 680 and a 7970 both in my newegg cart and sat there looking at both for a good hour before I chose the 7970. In the end it was probably due to the lower price tag and the fact I have an AMD cpu as well That I chose it.
