Oh, also no matter what foam you have, you usually want always think about placement ahead of time. When I'm thinking about foam placement, here's what I prioritize:
If you have anything that's rear ported, you'll want to prioritize putting foam behind those speakers. After that, I'd probably place acoustic foam behind any speakers or subs you have/plan to buy, and I'd put the rest most likely nearish to corners, if there's any left over, I suppose you might want to just place the symmetrically (for aesthetics) in an area that would help with the acoustics- Near to the speakers, perhaps just next to your listening position, whatever.

It could be that the guy has an agenda to push (bought multiple subs and wants to justify it), maybe he's just a sensitive listener, maybe he has a special situation or he's used to far better/more expensive subs, maybe he's just bs'ing you, who knows. I'd say it's fine, you're probably going to be fine with a second sub, And remember what this guy is saying applies should apply to most or all subwoofers in general, and almost certainly the subs you can afford. The dude is a random on the interenet, what he says (or actually, everything anybody says about audio) shouldn't be taken as a fact. How we experience audio is subjective, so only real way to tell if they're correct to you is if... you try it out yourself.
You can totally go out somewhere that sells subs or speakers in general and try out that theory for yourself. You might not even need to try out two subs, or a pb series sub, just try out a single sub and see how you like it.

You'll most likely feel the boom and ear issue in the small space.  I advocate some baffles or other sound materials around your place to offset.  It really is how the room is built, dimensions, placement, how the wave develops along surfaces/walls, deadening materials (sofas, beds, baffles on walls).

You're limited, but using the settings on the sub, receiver, and playing with placement and furniture... I think you can come out with a good experience with it.

I am not understanding your layout.  How large is your place in total m^2? One wall is 3.8m and one is 3.5? Think your measurements are off.

I would greatly suggest a sub  that can go to 20Hz or lower if you can.  Ultralow frequencies make the movie, IMO.

I'd shoot for dual SVS even if you have to go smaller, unless the freq. resp. is such that you lose out on ultralows.  Otherwise, i am a big fan of SVS.

If you have a small place, may want to get a house before you invest in that.  My neighbors hated my Mirage sub.

Right, the PB 1000 is a greatsub.  With the right placement it'll be fine vs 2x subs.  With such a small place, 2x would be difficult to work with I think.

Jonathan=PC reacted to Derkoli in Should I treat my room with Acoustic foam? Waterfall picture
To reduce room reflections, you would use acoustic panels. Especially at the first reflection points. You want to either absorb or diffuse at these points.

OP's issue of clapping sounding weird is most likely dynamic smearing. Which is an issue caused by the first reflection points.

If you can afford it, absolutely. The room is the largest and most apparent component of any system.

I would take a look into some of GIK Acoustics Education stuff. They have excellent articles on basically everything to do with room treatment.

    https://gikacoustics.co.uk/understanding-decay-times/

    https://gikacoustics.co.uk/articles/

All a Waterfall Graph does is show you how long it takes for the sound waves within a room to decay away.

Here is an example of a Waterfall Graph, from one of my measurements. (I was testing DSP, hence the atrocious FR)

At the 0ms point (shown by the number to the right), this is essentially what the Microphone first hears.

As time continues, we can see the sound gets quieter. This is because the sound dies away from the acoustic impedance of the walls, ceiling, floor, air, etc.

If your room has a big issue at particular frequencies, you'd see the waterfall graph wouldn't be very smooth. At the 60, 180, 240 etc. points, you'd see peaks and valleys. This can be seen in the 2,750-4250Hz range on my example.

Your room is very lively. It's taking a fair amount of time for sound to decay away. At 7.5kHz, your room is still sat at 80dB after 300ms. Which is significant. I do suspect your microphone isn't dB calibrated to REW however, as I doubt you're measuring at up to 137dB.

Here are two examples from GIK Acoustics: The 1st one is before treatment, the 2nd is after treatment. We can see a significant change.

Room acoustics can have an effect. You can try doing a sub crawl: https://www.audioholics.com/home-theater-connection/crawling-for-bass-subwoofer-placement

From Dolby spec the surrounds are at a less than ideal place, but you have to work with what you've got. The fronts are actually pretty much bang on considering distance from the sofa and tv.

You can also try running the Audyssey room correction to see if that improves your overall sound.

You should be able to manually adjust the RAM speed.  X.M.P doesn't always work, and it not a guarantee it will put it to proper speed of the RAM.  So go in BIOS and set to manual and sett the DRAM frequency to 3200Mhz.  Let us know what happens... good luck

    Jonathan=PC reacted to Princess Luna in Ryzen 7 3700x or i7 9700k?
The Ryzen 7 3700X is vastly superior than the i7 9700K value wise... with an inexpensive B450 motherboard and the stock cooler you already get pretty much all it can offer which is fine for high refresh targeting 144fps for the most part, when paired with 3200mhz memory.

The i7 9700K is more expensive, requires you to purchase a decent aftermarket cooler and Z390 boards that will successfully overclock it to 5ghz where it will gain that small advantage on gaming costs more.

We're talking about a gigantic price difference for too narrow of a performance gap, the R7 3700X should be the obvious choice but if you want to stick to Intel for the fake feeling of premium, be my guest :p'

Jonathan=PC reacted to PCTechNoob in Predator X34,Widescreen questions,27 inch big enough for gaming?
The only thing I can say is 27 inch is defiantly big enough for gaming and other tasks. I used a 19 inch for years and I thought that was big. When I upgraded to 24 inch it was overwhelming. Also, bigger screens sometimes have higher input lag which is bad for competitive gaming.

the x34 is an excellent pick, but buying it depends on your budget distribution, and your prioritization. If you do buy it, pay in installments : that is a good option.

if you would be doing youtube mainly, I dont think you'll want a 100HZ monitor, as the vids will all be 60 or 30 fps, and 1440P is also not good for yt recording, I'd say don't do it.
