  1. Hey guys, *System specs in signature I originally had 8gb of DDR3 when I initially built my computer, however recently I ordered another 8gb of the exact same kind of RAM. When I installed all 4x4gb and went to boot the system it only showed 8gb in the bios and said it was in dual channel mode, so I began to think the RAM had come DOA. So I removed the new ram and then moved my original RAM into the other slots to see if the slots were broken on my motherboard, well they weren't. I then removed the original RAM and put just the new 8GB in the system and it showed up and ran totally fine. This is where I began to get a bit confused, because none of the motherboard slots were broken and both sets of RAM worked fine alone. So my next concern was that they were incompatible which is highly unlikely to occur in the first place, not to mention they are the exact same model! So I took one stick of the original RAM and one stick of the new RAM and tried it out, once again the system booted and ran fine, showing all 8gb of RAM. Now I'm extremely lost, because the only time it doesn't work is when all 4 sticks are in the system, in BIOS it says 2 of the slots are empty. What could be going on and is there anyway to fix this? I'd like to hope I didn't just waste $54! Thanks
  2. what should I do? I literally just installed windows today on brand new drive... installed Microsoft security essentials before ever surfing the web and installed all my drivers from a USB so I don't see how I could have a virus.
  3. I opened task manager while playing, and svchost.exe is taking up the highest percent of CPU usage throughout the entire time I was playing.
  4. well my cpu usage is displaying 100% on all cores on both afterburner and hwmonitor, after playing just for a little while on max everything
  5. idk how to check cpu usage in afterburner
  6. Hey guys, I just played Titanfall 2 on totally max settings on my freshly rebuilt gaming PC and my GTX 1070 FE reached 98% utilization and a max temp of 77 degrees based on what HWMonitor was telling me. First of all is this too hot for my GPU or will that be ok? Also, is it normal to reach 98% utilization? Thanks.
  7. Hey guys, I just played Titanfall 2 as the first game on my freshly rebuilt gaming PC. I have a i5 3570k and a GTX 1070 Founders Edition. On totally max settings I was getting 100% CPU utilization on all cores based on what HWMonitor was telling me, is this normal? Thanks.
  8. Me as well, was this the 24" Acer Predator 1080p gsync you ordered? Because if I do ever buy a gsync monitor that will probably be it.
  9. Well if you did watch the videos he recommends using no sync if comparing fast sync and vsync, so you must not have. He recommends trying to get 144 constant FPS in games by lowering visual settings, even if you have a 60hz monitor. This will make the tearing that occurs almost impossible to notice, or at least the best current option. (that is what he says, not sure if it is true yet)
  10. I recommend you check out the videos posted on the first page.
  11. All good! I agree if you have the extra money you should go with something other than the Founders Edition, just stating there is nothing necessarily wrong with them if you don't plan to overclock.
  12. Show me a GTX 1070 you can get for $370? At the time of my purchase the second cheapest card was $410 and that is a $60 difference. When your on a budget you sure as heck wouldn't mind changing a fan curve (takes two seconds) to save that kind of money. Not to mention "better looking" is subjective, I think the FE is the best looking one. However, I agree that if you want to overclock you should pretty much never get a blower style cooler (unless your getting a custom water cooling block).
  13. I have the Founders Edition and it's totally fine if you don't plan to overclock and don't mind a little noise, you just have to play with the fan curve. Plus I got it for $350, so I don't see how you could pass that up.
  14. Not true, if you want high frame rates like 144 fps you definitely need a 1070 for 1080p gaming. Plus if you want to future proof your system, why not.
  15. watch the first video, you can notice the difference of 144 fps on a 60hz monitor in regards to tearing.
  16. So neither v-sync or fast sync? Just try and maintain 144 fps in game and it should mask the tearing?
  17. Just watched the first video, so essentially he is saying my best bet when discussing v-sync and fast sync would be neither. To try and maintain 144 fps in game on my 60hz monitor should make the tearing very hard to see. Also, if I had a 144hz regular monitor and maintain 144 fps in game I will basically not be able to see the tearing at all. Is this correct?
  18. That is what I thought, someone said that it would help prevent tearing but that didn't make sense to me.
  19. I'm not an extremely intense gamer so I would rather have a little lag anyway I guess. BF1 and TF2 are my main games. Would 144hz regular monitor benefit over a 60hz regular monitor for stopping tearing? Well doesn't the same occur for v-sync... it only prevent tearing when you are above the monitors refresh rate?
  20. why would it do that as long as I'm above 60 fps all the time, or even more likely at 120 fps.
  21. I'm honestly so lost with all of this. I thought that fast sync works better when you FPS is 2-3x more than your monitors refresh rate. Therefore wouldn't I get less studdering or tearing with a 1070 and a 60hz monitor? Why would 144hz be better unless it was gsync?
  22. As a college student I will not be able to justify spending over $400 on a monitor for many years.
