XplosiveNoctua99 reacted to HKZeroFive in Cooling and RAM help
I imagine it to reflect that of normal games. Most VR games won't be likely to exceed 8GB although there might be the rare case in which 16GB would be optimal.
That's not entirely true. Linus' video on the matter is misleading and flawed in general. Faster RAM can give a small boost in minimum and sometimes average framerates in CPU-intensive situations. Members from OCN and Digital Foundry have both proven this.
As for amount, both rendering and video editing rarely exceed 16GB. 32GB is only required in very specific applications.
You won't need a beefier cooler for that CPU since it's a locked one. I would suggest the CRYORIG H7 but it looks to be out of stock. Perhaps the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO would work.
As for RAM, if you can find another 8GB of the exact same RAM, that would work nicely.

XplosiveNoctua99 reacted to Mark77 in RAM DDR3 Vs DDR3L
DDR3L RAM is DDR3 RAM which has been explicitly qualified for low-voltage operation. But it can still operate at the higher voltages.
Its not a matter of 'killing' a CPU if you run DDR3 (non-L) RAM in a DDR3-requiring system. But the RAM might not get enough voltage from such boards to ensure proper operation, and might end up derating, or might end up creating additional errors.

XplosiveNoctua99 reacted to dragoon20005 in RAM DDR3 Vs DDR3L
L at the end mean low voltage RAM
and i would suggest getting normal RAMs over the Low voltages if you want to keep your original RAM
this is where you get memory errors and the new RAM and mobo will burn out because your mobo is trying to run two different RAM voltages.

XplosiveNoctua99 reacted to Divide_By_0 in Motherboard/PCIE Question :)
It seem's like it would work fine, honestly even if the graphics card was at 8x or 4x it would probably be fine anyway.

XplosiveNoctua99 reacted to nicklmg in AMD Polaris Giveaway
So AMD's new graphics cards are here, and they are pretty sick... But what's even more sick than hearing about a new graphics card? Owning one for yourself!
Aw yeah man, we are giving away one Polaris 10 video card and one Polaris 11 video card thanks to our good friends over at AMD.
So, how do you enter to win one of these fine graphics cards?
1. Post a comment below telling us what graphics card you're using in your rig and why you want an upgrade to AMD's Polaris lineup. The two winners will be selected at random, so no, the content of your comment doesn't REALLY matter, but this is more fun than seeing 800 posts of "I want it" or "gibe nao pls." One comment (entry) per user.
2. Check back here in about a week when the names of our two winners will be added to the OP (giveaway execution is an art not a science people, so I apologize in advance if winners aren't announced in exactly one week).
3. Check your inbox here on the forum to make sure you didn't miss it. Our winners' usernames will be added to the OP here, so if you have any question about the legitimacy of a congratulatory message regarding this giveaway, please be sure to check back here and see if your name has been added.
And, while this isn't a requirement, feel free to give our friends over at @AMDRadeon on Twitter a follow.
Winners will be PMed from this account on the forum. Please do not consider winner messages from any other user in regards to this giveaway.
This giveaway is worldwide with no age restriction.
Best of luck to all!!
EDIT: Winners
Polaris 10 winner: Alright, SOMEONE needs to take this GPU! Let's see if @UltraNeonGaming wants it you have 72 hours to respond @Herb12 UPDATE: New winner for Polaris 10 is
Polaris 11 winner: @OnlyNeedJuan
Congrats to our winners! They have 72 hours to respond. If we don't hear back in that time, a new winner (or new winners) will be selected.

XplosiveNoctua99 reacted to Teddy07 in RX 480 flashing screen and hard crash
Seems like a more common problem of the rx 480. I found this thread is thread https://community.amd.com/thread/202408 . Multiple people say they have the same screen flashing with their new card.

XplosiveNoctua99 reacted to typographie in A few questions about my CPU (i5 4590) please help!
Yeah… the slot names are a bit confusing. The PCIe x16 slot can have up to 16 lanes allocated to it, but the CPU/chipset will divide up the lanes if there is more than one card installed. x16 slots are the correct (and without modification, the only) place to install modern graphics cards, regardless of the number of cards.

Stock? That's quite high for stock. Even aftermarket OC'd 980s are only hitting 8.5-8.9.

XplosiveNoctua99 reacted to LinusTech in @LinusTech Twitter Account Hacked
On June 28, 2016 the Linus Media Group domain registrar account was compromised.
The exact methodology of the "hack" won't be disclosed for obvious reasons, but I can assure you that despite any claims to the contrary, the appropriate safeguards were in place on our side, and as I type this Yvonne is having a very heated phone discussion with the 3rd party responsible for the breach.
Anyway, the thing most of you are probably wondering about right now is what this means for your forum account or personal information, and the answer is very simple:
NOTHING.
The "hacker" simply changed the DNS settings in the dashboard and did not at any time have access to the linustechtips.com server. Any claims of a database dump are categorically false.
The compromised accounts - including Twitter - have been restored.
I hope this clears things up.
