It's normally just manufacturer and maybe a modle number, you can always look up mac addresses using a variety of web tools such as this one

Any reason for getting a surveillance drive? the're significantly more expensice and slower than normal drives. besides that seems fine.

It will just beep that has problem, nothing else should happen. For example, when you try to start your pc without any GPU or RAM the motherboard beeps code that there is a problem. The real problem is to try to turn on your motherboard without PSU

Thanks. But, other than being a scam (not fake - it takes more than $1 to get an ISA GPU to your door), how is a GPU supposed to be sold by anyone at $1? I mean, what would justify a probability higher than 0% of getting anything in this case?

Well, if they sell a 1050ti for $435, I guess they can ship another 1050ti for free and still turn a profit

Most of my GPUs were pretty cheap
Have an ATI X800 SE that I snagged for $1.86 from a scrapyard
Got a GTX 550ti for free off of an eBay scammer
    Got a GTX 570 for $10 from r/hardwareswap
And also, check your local PC hardware shops, dumps that accept electronics, and scrapyards/recycling centers.

    EDIT:
Decided to give it a gamble bc I had &2 burning in my pocket. Ordered the "1070 Ti". I expect a box to be shipped to my door. Just that. A box that says GTX 1070Ti.

Yes, it [will improve gaming experience as your OS can draw more frequently and with less downtime over an HDD]. You'll have to reinstall Windows to the SSD for best effect.

For the iPhone backup. My suggestion:

    1. Enable iCloud backup - whether they have an "inherent disinterest" or not is irrelevant. Just set it and forget it.
    2. Disable iCloud photos backup - this will ensure you don't go over the ridiculously small 5GB iCloud storage limit. Just backup config.
    3. Choose one: Google Drive, OneDrive, or Drop Box
3a. Install iOS app for said service, enable automatic Photos backup (will do photos and videos).

This solution will have iCloud backup the device itself and important configs, and then all photos and videos will be backed up to the cloud service of your choice. I use this exact system with iCloud + OneDrive, and it works great.

WIFI Sync only works with iTunes, as far as I'm aware. You could have your parents backup to iTunes, and then create a script that automatically backs up the folder on their computer to your Server, but that doesn't seem as easy to me as simply using my above method.

    Hey guys!

So as some of you may know, last Wednesday we created and released an Official LTT Discord to the Floatplane sub-forum. We wanted a bit of breathing room and time to fix bugs with permissions, work out rules, and other things before going ahead with a public launch. It seems like we've worked out most of the kinks so we're going ahead and launch this to you awesome peeps over here in the forum and our socials before later expanding to our YouTube community.

There's already more than 4000 people on the server but this is still a "soft launch" for now. Eventually you'll probably start hearing "and check our Discord server @ discord.gg/ltt" at the end of videos, but for now we're just publishing it here, and on social platforms.

    Join the Discord!

PLEASE NOTE: Your Discord account MUST have a verified phone number to chat at all. We also recommend link your forum account to the discord! There is also some exclusive Floatplane member chat rooms, as well as automated notifications for video releases (the floatplane rank will sync when you link accounts).

    Enjoy,

those are the adapters to connect the fiber cable to.

if your cisco has its 4 sfp port gaping empty you will first need to get one of those. then a network card that uses fiber optics with a same plug so you can use a "normal" fiber optics cable.

this is a card that can be used :

As for the SFP port, there are also qbics that have an rj45 ethernet port... you could get one of those, plug it into your cisco and just connect to it using a normal network connection.

    Like this one:

You'll need to get one that works with your Cisco though, not this netgear one... but just as example pic

And for some deeper information about storage and connecting it...

for a long time fiber channel was the way to go for maximum performance in attaching a SAN or NAS to your servers. Then ISCSI came around the corner which uses a special kind of SCSI protocol encapsulated in normal ethernet.

This was quite welcome because it was way cheaper than fiber channel hardware, because you could just use you ethernet nic and an ISCSI stack. But then due to the overhead ISCSI always limped behind in performance after fiber channel.

Now that you can get devices and switches that support 10 gbit full duplex ISCSI is again an option against 8 gbit fiber channel to connect storage to servers.

oh even the gbics (the little things that go into the card and connect the cables) are rated at different specifics... for speed, or use for dark fiber, which will go a longer way on the dark fiber cable... and so on. there are even different kind of plugs used by different vendors some times even for the same specification.

Fiber optics are a pain in the backside =) in regard of different plugs, gbics etc.

It should. No matter what I'd go for it since it's decently specced for the price, and as soon as the mining craze drops, you'll be able to get dirt cheap used video cards that are great (Rx 570 for example). so you could upgrade it then, and run GTA 5 at high/ultra 1080P
