  1. I'm becoming more mobile and not using my desktop much. I'm considering of buy a 14" laptop for web development and light/casual gaming. It should handle 4k monitors easily without stuttering. I'm considering the Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 AMD (14") with RTX 4060, 32gb ram, AMD Ryzen™ 7 7840HS. I'm used to lenovo's warranty and they're quite good. What do you guys think?
  2. Budget (including currency): $50 CAD open Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: BF2042, programming, office, youtube, slight video editing Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Already own: CPU: 5900x Ram: CORSAIR Vengeance RGB RT 32G GPU: 4090FE PSU: EVGA 1000w GOLD ATX (fits nicely in the case) Will be getting: Case: Meshroom S Motherboard: ASRock B550M-ITX/AC (would consider other options) Recommendation: What CPU air cooler you'd recommend that will fit that case and provide good cooling? I'm not really comfortable with AIO because of tube bending and/or risk of leaking. Thank you.
  3. My current cpu is a 3900x and I'm considering a 5900x or a 5800X3D (same price). Use case: programming, data analysis/science, some virtualization (might have 1 VM open, but not on all the time). Benchmarks seem to be close, but obviously X3D favors gaming, which I do casually (FPS games and Civilization VI). Would the 5800X3D be very good for the above non-gaming tasks? Anyone with experience to share?
  4. Overclocking ram is cpu bound as well? I'm upgrading to 5900x, could that help?
  5. The thing is my computer loops and doesn't POST if I push it past 3333mhz.
  6. I have 4x 8gb GSkill Sniper 3000mhz CL16, at 3333mhz with XMP. Running 3900x (upgrading to 5900x) and x570 motherboard. Would upgrading to 2x 16gb 3600mhz CL16 provide significant increase in speed? Or not the worth the money/hassle?
  7. I don't have a dedicated gpu right now, so 5600G is all I got for now. Planning ahead. SFX needed for NR200, updated OP. Thanks.
  8. Specs: Ryzen 5600G, 2x 8gb ram, 6800XT, m.2 ssd. NR200 case. Same wattage, same price, but which one would be better? https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07JFLGGQ6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&psc=1 or https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08LP6LPQN/ref=crt_ewc_title_dp_1?ie=UTF8&smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&th=1
  9. I tried that myself but things really slow/laggy. Even dragging apps....how's your experience?
  10. I'm looking to build a mini-itx system to run linux. I will not add a GPU so CPU must come with iGPU. For general use case, which platform should I go with an IGPU and why?
  11. I'm building an itx machine for normal use, internet, youtube, Office and VS Code. These motherboards have the same price, but which would be a better choice, and why? Will be paired with a Ryzen 5 5600G. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B089FWWN62/ref=crt_ewc_title_oth_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B089D34SZT/ref=crt_ewc_title_dp_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB and the cheapest/crappiest?: https://www.newegg.ca/asrock-b550m-itx-ac/p/N82E16813157954?Item=N82E16813157954
  12. Mostly writing and programming in python.
  13. I've been dual booting for some time now, Windows for mining and gaming and Linux for everything else. I'm deciding to to leave my main rig exclusively for mining + casual gaming and build a new mini-itx machine for Linux as my main productivity machine. I'm thinking of an AMD with built-in graphics? What do you guys think? Current specs: Ryzen 3900x, Aorus Master x570, 32GB DDR4 (4x 8GB, I can use 2 sticks for each build), 1TB nvme, 1TB m.2 ssd.
  14. thanks, will keep that in mind.
  15. Looking for a high-end PSU. According to the info provided, should I go with a 1000w or 1200w psu? I'm also aiming towards Titanium or Platinum. What do you guys think of this: be quiet! 16. How's the software stability? Easy to undervolt? Overclock? Software crashes?
  17. Would like your opinions on this one, If you have both cards in hand, but must keep one, which one would you choose and why? Use case: video editing, programming, casual gaming. Other specs: 3800, 32gb ram, x570 motherboard.
  18. My current specs are Ryzen 3900x, GB Aorus Master motherboard, 4x 8gb GSkill 3200mhz ram, RX 6800 gpu. The system mostly runs fine, but I don't like Gigabyte's software, specially for controlling the case fan, chipset fan becomes dusty and loud at times. I have a 5950x and an Asus Dark Hero in my hand now, wondering if I should upgrade or return them? Asus BIOS and software better that GB's? Thanks!
  19. I currently have a 3900x with a GB Aorus Master motherboard. I only use 2 m.2 slots and don't like the sound of the chipset fan and clogged dust. I also received an Asus Dark Hero. Aesthetically looks nice and no fan. Worth the upgrade or return it?
  20. I actually installed an older version, 21.4.1 on the fresh install. I don't have another game to test, so it's a bit tricky.
  21. It's becoming extremely frustrating! Why does adrenaline crash every time I launch or play COD Cold War?? I did the DDU, installed AMD chipset, Reset Windows and even formatted the ssd and started from scratch. This happens with whether using default adrenaline setting, preset or manual. Even with XMP enabled and disabled, no difference! Oh, and when this happens Logitech Options just stops working and I no longer have proper functionality to my Mx Master, not sure how they're related. Specs: Ryzen 3900X, 4x 8GB Gskill 3200mhz ram, RX6800, 1tb Samsung Evo Nvme, Aorus Master mb, Corsair RX750w psu.
  22. yes, both of them are usually running. So I should invest in a higher wattage psu?
