I just checked PC Part picker, there was nothing that was $100 or under that was 1080p 60hz, there may be something that cheap in a big box store, not something you will easily find online.

    2. GTX 750Ti
    3. Why not just stick with your own, and your brother can have his two cards. Yours is fine.

It would probably be a while before a full block comes out for the new card, but since the new card follow a similar form factor to older cards, then it may not be too long of a wait.

If you're into saving money, then cancel the order and get the 980 Ti and save some bucks.

It won't be forced on users, you can stay with your current windows OS, and not upgrade to Windows 10. Saying it will be forced on all windows users is being ignorant of the fact that it will not force an update to Windows 10. Just stick with windows?

Can you use PC partpicker rather than the site you used? It would be faster and easier for you to build the list up on PC Part picker and then copy it as a text post summary and then post it here.

ReadyToGame got a reaction from Mao_Zedong in More reasons to get a desktop?
If you really want to have a desktop you could argue that it is more worth it in the long run. It would be a lot more worth it for you, as you are able to play more games, with laptops you will be more restricted in your ability to upgrade the machine, with a desktop it would be easier and faster when you need to make an upgrade, and would probably be cheaper.

If your desktop broke then it would be cheaper to find and fix, and it would be easier to troubleshoot issues yourself, rather than having to take it to a tech shop and paying stupid amounts of money to have the laptop fixed. If you are both techies, then you would be able to work together and figure out what's wrong with the computer, and you are literate enough to figure out what is wrong, or what needs to be replaced.

It will be a better investment than a laptop, because the computer would last longer than the laptop would, and wouldn't  take as much abuse as a laptop would, being moved around etc.

The desktop is way better for you to invest the money, or your money in a desktop, and not a laptop. You would be able to get a decent laptop for a decent price, but you probably would not be able to play any real intensive games on the laptop if it was just one for browsing that you buy for $600-1000.

What would be your budget if you were to get a desktop?

I don't need to go crazy high on the graphics card, this is going to be something for gaming, and sometimes school work, I'm not going to need to kick the shizzlenits out of a game by having a better graphics card, I think a 970 would be fine for the games I'd be interested in playing/have to play

    Thanks though.

WIth membrane keyboards key caps aren't generally made for them, even if your keyboard is a Logitech G510s. I think you might just have to live with the keyboard as it is or upgrade to a new mechanical keyboard so you can actually get different key caps, sorry about that.

No need for name calling, just a comment that is not the route to go until all other options are explored

You don't want to get directly into reinstalling the GPU drivers if it's not needed. I'm sure OP installed them fine, and uninstalling them and reinstalling should be a last resort rather than suggesting it right away, because there are many options to explore before doing that. Like simply re-installing the game, rather than the drivers.

Yes, but most with save-games do. It's also always easy to make a backup just in case

They are good, but like you said in your edit, you don't gain much in game FPS, what you gain is just speedy start-ups of the game, and if the SSD fails it doesn't matter, because it's a game and can be re-installed. Plus, if you are using steam, then the games save files will be backed up by the steam cloud storage.

They are an intel based company, and intel has a lot of money, so they probably pay Adobe to offer the product, because there are a lot of people these days that won't have Anti-virus, and when they find out that this product is protecting their computer, then they might want to buy the full version, and that generates income for both Intel and Adobe. It's all about the marketing. Just be careful next time

Flash will ALWAYS ask you before installing McAfee. Did you download the update from their website? If you did, then there is a checkbox in the middle of the three "squares" on their website that prompts you as to whether or not you want to install McAfee. If it was from your computer, with no browser then you obviously missed a checkbox. Just uninstall McAfee, and you should be fine.

Is it a new system, and are you looking for a nicely cable-managed look? If you want good cable management looks then I'd say go with the Fully modular.

ReadyToGame reacted to GoodBytes in Asus Customer Support
Are you Canada? ASUS is a pain. Call again, make it clear that you have a problem with your board and that it is under warranty, and that you can send them proof of purchase (fax or e-mail).
Remain calm however, and polite, but just be strict. Be sure you log everything. Whom are you calling, what is their FULL name or employee id, log the time and conversation...

If that works great, if that doesn't, you can try the old trick in the book:
    http://consumerist.com/2007/05/11/how-to-launch-an-executive-email-carpet-bomb/

Reaching executives, always makes thing shake up. The first reaction that they'll get, is how did that person reach me, found me, and think it is critical. Having a well written complaint letter where you share max details on everything in a professional manner, shows that you mean real business. Usually they won't handle this themselves, but rather ask someone else to handle the case. Watch you getting a new board.

Personally, I had a horrible experience with ASUS when my motherboard broke. In my case, my 2 Ethernet ports broke. Now, I didn't have to do the above, but I did have to wait 1 month to get a replacement board, which was super dusty, like no joke, even dust in the PCI-E bracket, and smelled like it was in computer where the people in the house smoked. Disgusting board.
Pissed off, I cleaned it off, deeply, but properly, of course, and noticed how super scratch the board was around some screw holes. You can see that he had trouble installing it, probably used a wrong screw driver.
Well the board did work, but only 1 of the Ethernet ports work, not the other. I called ASUS, and I was put on hold for 4h, and hanged up on the face, called back, and was informed by an automated message that the customer service is now closed and to call back tomorrow.
I did call back the next day, and I was put on hold for 3h. Then I was told that the scratches are cosmetic and not covered, as for the second Ethernet, well, "the other one works, so what's the problem?". Thanks Asus!
Then I was told that they can't do anything, as my warranty is out now, which is actually true, as it broke less than a month before the warranty ends.

A friend of mine, several months later also had a problem, his experience was far better, but still took a month for his replacement. The board was not scratched. and only a bit of dust. Great!
Until he build back his computer and the motherboard didn't work. After long several hours of troubleshooting, and knowing my experience, and ASUS was now saying it was his fault, that he broke the motherboard. He pulled his motherboard out of his system, and snap it in 2 with his leg, and went out to a local computer store and bought an MSI board.

In my case, my board still works today. My father uses my old computer, which is great, I guess. But for me, ASUS made it to the black list.
On my newer computer I decided to switch with Gigabyte. And I was impressed. ASUS now does it, but at the time Gigabyte offered a rich fully detailed motherboard manual, the board felt even better quality, dual BIOS is really nice (at the time ASUS had no option for BIOS recovery). Sadly, the BIOS is a bit slow to boot up. And I lost the looks (it was before Gigabyte had black boards, they were blue), and only get the bare minimum accessories, despite a high-end range board (common to Gigabyte board). I never tried their warranty service, however, but so far it is holding up great. My experience is the same today, then was when I got it (When teh Core i7 930 was released, so its a been a couple of years)

The problem with ASUS, is that their product are full of great features, good price, good packaging, great accessories, and everything is smartly done.
Has a reputation for also making great overclock boards, implement many features asked, really in the community scene, loves to do a splash here and there to impress people, and their stuff is generally good quality.
So all in all, ASUS makes very compelling products, and no wonder why they are so huge, and highly recommended.
But their warranty is truly awful, sadly.
