  1. Uhhhhh, no. "Assembled in the USA" just means some people (unfortunately probably under payed employees) just slapped a few parts together in the US, reboxed it, and sent it off to the retailers, there is literally nothing special, it's all a lie, basically.
  2. How old is the build? I know you mentioned your SSD is two years old, but it may be a failing HDD/SSD like said above, if you can, I'd suggest maybe buying a new HDD, or SSD. Also, what is your amount of storage on your HDD/SSD? How many gigs, or terabytes, and how old is your HDD. If your HDD or SSD is overloaded with stuff on it, it may be having issues due to a lack of space.
  3. No problem! Hope you can get it sorted! Haha!
  4. Ah, I understand now. I can't help you then. I don't know shat about building servers, haha.
  5. How can the slowness mean a failed HDD? If it were a failed HDD, the thing would be making a shitload of noises and probably not even starting up at all. A USB port is designed to transmit data, not just charge things. The computer is old, they wouldn't have designed a USB port solely for charging purposes, that's just ridiculous to say. How would the SSD put out so much heat? It's not worth putting that much money into it, and getting a universal charger wouldn't solve much, the charger, as he stated sits loose in the port, meaning the port is loose/busted.
  6. No. It is SO not worth repairing. If you're running the win10 preview that might be why it's running slow after the factory reset. Don't put money into it, get a new one. It will be so, so much more worth it for your wallet. - If you are going to get a new laptop, what would your price range be? (Please don't get another HP, they suck, honestly.)
  7. Just look up sideloading android 5.0 lollipop, or just go here for the 5.0 downloads, directly from google, they give you a tutorial for you to do it yourself, if you're a total noob, I'd just ask your friend to do it, he clearly knows what he is doing. Not to say you can't do it, but it has a risk, completely bricking the phone, breaking it so that you can't use it. Then you'd be out of luck and have to buy a new phone all together. Depending on where you live, you may be able to get a Nexus 4 still, but maybe not, since they stopped producing Nexus 5's, and I do believe they stopped producing The nexus early or late last year. But the Nexus 5 is probably still available, if you're really looking for a phone with no risk of loss. I really don't know what I'm doing with sideloading myself, so I can't give you in depth help, because I am patiently waiting for the Nexus 4 5.0 OTA update (OTA meaning Over the Air update, in which I get the download directly from google, from the system updates tab.) I think really your best bet would be to ask your friend to sideload Android 5.0 onto the phone for you, as it will wipe the internal storage of the phone completely, getting rid of the multiple installed Operating Systems. If you want to give it a go yourself, here is the link: https://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/index.html
  8. Trying to figure out how to basically steal money from devs and any company is basically a crime, and he's asking how he can basically commit a crime. So It goes against the CoC. Not allowed here.
  9. I don't get why you wouldn't go for an all out build, all out builds run FTB and ATLauncher just as well. I watch a few streamers who play with computers that are quite beefy and they run Skyfactory 2 even with shaders, so that's 132+ mods running at once and they get insane performance. I really don't see why you'd want to cheap out? Can you explain why you'd do that? If you went big then you'd be able to eventually expand into many other games like LoL, WoW, CS:GO, DOTA 2, Payday, Payday 2, BF3/4, GTA V, etc, etc. Why cheap out now and then if you ever wanted to expand in the future, you'd have to pay even more money.
  10. I don't think it has four different "OS"'s on it, what it is, is that you have Android 5.0 Lollipop, which is your 'Operating system' And then there is salfish, another OS, and firefox, and so on, so forth, I think having four different OSs on your device is just ridiculous, there is no need for it, and I don't see why he did it, I'd say ask him to remove them all. Or you could try to sideload android 5.0.2 or 5.0.1 onto the device, which will completely wipe all the other stuff off the phone, and you wouldn't have to worry.
  11. You'll just waste your money. Don't do it.
  12. I have not a clue how they get apps for free... It really makes no sense, are you sure they're not lying to you?
  13. Don't get an alienware, then prices are jacked up, and they aren't that good anymore. Since dell bought them, IMO, they are just more crappy and more expensive. You're paying for the branding + You could just buy a new laptop + a potable 1TB drive and keep all your precious data you need to use on both PCs on that...
  14. @Slick @LinusTech, is there any word on what's going to happen?
  15. @nicklmg I don't know what kits are still available either, but if there is still a larger kit available, I will take it, if it is still up for grabs that is, thanks.
  16. I know, I can't wait until I get it replaced/fixed, I hope they send me a new one, or a whole different keyboard... I already bought a new logitech Keyboard though, as I can just give or sell my replacement, or whatever happens with my keyboard. To a friend.
  17. There's something you really need to watch out for. You aren't going to have enough space your your video card. Also, I'd so highly suggest rather than just getting two SSD's, that you get a hard drive, like, 1 TB, and go for a bigger case. The only way you can fit your card into your PC is if you take out your drive bays, and you'll definitely need them. - Edit: One thing I missed... You can have one hard drive hooked up, and still have the space for your graphics card. You get 5 trays for your Hard drives, so take 4 out, have an HDD in one, and it'll be great! It's my opinion, but I really think you should drop an SSD, and get a normal HDD. Seeing as yes, this case has your two spots for the SSDs, on the bottom (near where your PSU will be located, as seen here: ) You will have the space for the SSDs. (Which I assume you already know because you're making this post on the LinusTech forums. Hope this helps!
  18. Honestly, go with the K70, yes you can get the chroma for that much off, but you are far better off buying the K70 at full price. Razer is all about hype. I say that, typing on my Razer Deathstalker Keyboard and using a Razer Deathadder, but, I've been having a lot of issues with my keyboard, and quite frankly it's really damn annoying. Also, Razer's products are more heavily software defined, meaning, I can't always use it in BIOS, or hold the button to get into BIOS at all, so, K70, the way to go.
  19. If it's from an 'old' gateway PC, then your issue probably the fact that they will not work together. It's mixed RAM, and especially quite old and quite new RAM. I suggest this, first, take out the Corsair ram, see if it loads at all, see if it detects both of the old RAM sticks, step two, put in the new corsair RAM, take out the old Gateway PC RAM, if it detects both of your corsair sticks, then you just should give up on the old Gateway PC RAM because that is just kind of silly using hardware that is that old in a newer PC, along with new RAM, the old RAM probably just does not work at all on the newer motherboards. Your best bet would to be buy more RAM.
  20. Have you cleared your cache recently? If not, that could be your issue. You need to completely wipe your Google Chrome cache. If you haven't, I'll give you a quick tip. @chitranjan
  21. Well I am ready to buy the required amount of oil as soon as I know that I am eligible to receive a kit. I am still very interested, and it would be a task I'm sure I would enjoy, and I have a few friends that would be interested in seeing/helping with the build. Thanks for the reply. And I know I'm late with replying but I've been a bit busy. Just letting you know I'm still interested if there are still kits up for grabs. @nicklmg
  22. You're awesome for giving back, I know this is a "newbie" account, but my old account is gone for some reason (I wish I could provide proof that this is just a new account I had to make, but I can't) Please reply to this @ iHammmy, I don't want to be excluded, thanks! Good luck to everyone and have a Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas/Happy New Year!
  23. You seriously didn't read, I had requested that my old account be deleted, then decided against it. When I come back, 5-6+ months later and I can't login or recover the account, I had to make a brand new account. No need to Judge so fast, and you have no right to judge because you didn't read what I said. Thanks.
  24. I completely missed that there was the giveaways for the last remaining kits, I was extremely interested but didn't catch the video where they stated that they were giving away the last remaining kits to ever exist. I was extremely interested, and when I went to the giveaway thread, it was locked. So, I know this is a dumb question, but are all the kits given away 100%? Because I am very interested in getting one, and have to ability to purchase the Mineral Oil (All that is needed). This question goes out to @nicklmg whom created the original giveaway thread, and to @LinusTech and @Slick. Thanks for your time, and I know it might be annoying, but I just wanted to confirm that the kits ARE 100% given away because I am ready to order the oil, and I know where to purchase it from. (I had to make a new account because it seems my old one was deleted, or something, and I was unable to recover it.) Sincerely, ReadyToGame.
