I have to assent to what adammmmmm said:
The heat flow is proportional to the Delta_T and therefore it's convinient to measure somehow that (for example on a waterblock). I wrote down a "short" example of the logic and math behind all this, so you maybe understand how this should work:
Hope this is not too complicated and clears some questions on how accurate this method is.
On the question, why measuring the current that goes to the cpu doesn't give you the heat output: this will give you the approximate heat output of the cpu AND everything thats in that circuit after the CPU. Approximate because you have to also account loss in energy due to creation of electromagnetic fields and therma radiation, both negligible effects (as far as I'm aware).

As I had some spare time and I found this quite an interesting topic, i tried to give it a shot.
I did some thermal simulation with a heat source of 140W input in this circle (30mm in diameter). For water I used a water-flow of 0.025kg/s at a input-temperature of 30°C.
On the left my design approach, on the right the LTT design approach. The temperature scale should be the same for both variants.
First the bottom of the cooler:
next the top of the copper plate:
then the water-flow:
3D-water-flow with surface temps:
Section with water-flow:
Section with water temperatures:
As I saw in this short simulation, the water-flow in the LTT design leaves a hotspot, which can also be also observed on the bottom (peak temperatures should be near 78°).
For my design I also moved the grove for the o-ring to the acrylic plate.
The fins can be machined with the following tool (I designed them with the use of this tool-dimensions: d1 63mm; t 1.6mm):
Was a fun thing to do. Hope you find it also interesting ?
Clevo Custom Laptops
What is a custom laptop? It is a laptop in which you have the ability to choose how much RAM to put, to choose between what SSD / HDD or different panels, cpus and gpus.
It is also useful to be able to take a barebone without disks and license.
What's Clevo?
Clevo is a Taiwanese ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) who designs and manufactures its products, gaming laptops or also high performance mobile workstations.
Clevo also manufactures barebone cases for other OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and these OEMs fill these barebone cases with the necessary hardware. Most of the brands (Dell, Alienware, HP, Lenovo, Acer) use barebones made by ODM such as Quanta, Compal, Clevo and others.
What's special?
The use of desktop cpus on its products (N3xx, N6xx, W6xx, P7xx, P8xx) is a particular feature of this manufacturer, which also uses the MXM format gpus in the most powerful platforms (P7xx, P8xx). Other OEMs (Dell, Alienware, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Gigabyte, Aorus) use soldered cpu/gpu for their gaming laptops. (here more infos)
Clevo does not market its products directly but it distributes them through a worldwide network of System Integrators and Resellers that rebrand them and customize them to the customer's taste. ( List of Clevo Resellers )
System Integrators such as Sager, Origin, XMG / Schenker, Metabox, Obsidian PC, Eurocom are among the most well-known in the world.

Nobody's stopping you from playing at 1080p on a 1440p or uhd monitor, but unlike a 21:9 one you won't need to waste space for black bars. Either way let me tell you, the gain in visual quality that comes with a higher resolution vastly outweights the benefits of stuff like ambient occlusion and depth of field, which take a huge amount of processing power for almost no difference in quality.
I'm running 2 1920x1200 monitors, 1 1920x1080 monitor, and 1 1280x1024 monitor on my 2GB GTX 680, which is just a little bit better then your GPU. Should be fine for running in general.
1920x1080 will also look good on a 2560x1080 monitor, if it supports to have black bars. (ultrawide monitors are not my thing, so I won't meep about actually getting one or so )
I run a 960 as well, and while only using a 1080p monitor, I use DSR to improve the quality by having the GPU render in 1440p and then downscaling to 1080p, resulting in a much smoother image, with a minimal hit to fps in my experience.
Try this driver: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=PSG_I18103_101210
Found the motherboard, but it lists a different driver, so here you go: http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=6&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
Make sure to make it very clear it was their software which caused the issue when you speak to support otherwise they'll try and blame you for it then charge you to fix it.
This is a known issue with Live Update. Even MSI recommend you don't use it for BIOS updating and only allow it to update drivers.
It appears your board has no dual BIOS support so you've got two choices, either find a replacement BIOS chip and swap it out yourself or RMA your board.
ALWAYS USE YOUR BIOS/UEFIs BUILT IN FLASH UTILITY TO FLASH YOUR BOARD.
if they do not work then try the network drivers on this page
http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-2000-Notebook-PC-series/5259209/model/5277692
i know it is not same model as yours but most drivers are same, and these are most recent i can find.
Scroll down a bit and pick "Network drivers" their are 6 drivers in there, start with the first one hopefully that will give you wireless connection,
download all the network drivers, on a USB ot something and also the "Driver Graphics" drivers this one will solve the VGA hopefully.
