Scruffy90 got a reaction from alanp1995 in Constant Loss of Any Monitor Signal - New Graphics Card Didn't Fix It!
Have you ruled out the monitor itself? If this is happening across multiple systems, than maybe its the monitor?
Does your mobo have a display out (i believe your cpu has integrated graphics), I would try that and see if the same issue persists

That doesnt rule it out. I've had monitors stay on where either the input itself failed or the cable was faulty. Things to consider depending on the age of the monitor

Voicemeeter and Virtual Audio Cable can do it for free.

Scruffy90 reacted to trag1c in Have soundboard sounds play through discord
Virtual driver devices...specifically virtual microphones. You need an application like voicemod that routes your mic and soundboard mixes to a virtual mic. I think it costs like $30 or $40 USD and I think it has support for elgato products.
So essentially in whatever application you want to use it with you set the virtual mic as the input device and then play whatever sound effects or voice changers you want through it.

Scruffy90 reacted to Oshino Shinobu in OpenVPN cannot find requested config to autostart
config-auto is the folder for the OpenVPN service. Are you using the GUI or Service version?
You can put credentials in a text file with the username on first line and password on the second, then add the filename after auth-user-pass, or you can include it in the ovpn file.

Scruffy90 reacted to Oshino Shinobu in OpenVPN cannot find requested config to autostart
Put the ovpn file in the config folder for the GUI, not config-auto.
I'd use a text file.
So you'd have this line in the ovpn file:
auth-user-pass credentials.txt and in credentials.txt, in the same folder as the ovpn file (or you can put it somewhere else and include the full path)
username password

Scruffy90 got a reaction from Crosseyed Sniper in Amazon Warehouse Monitors
I bought the Dell u2713hm a few years back when Amazon warehouse, and the monitor was practically new. The box was destroyed, but everything else was good. Monitor lasted me 7 years before I got rid of it.

Scruffy90 reacted to _crazy_crazy_ in How to have OpenVPN start and connect automatically on Windows start up
well if you have the latest version of openvpn you should reinstall it and in advanced options install also the openvpn service
after that just place your config in the folder auto config and go to windows services and set it to automatic and you're done

Was it a Steam game?
If so, that's not how it works - the games are launched through Steam and unless you buy the game through Steam, you can't do anything with it.
If not, then enable "See hidden files and folders" - Google knows how.

Scruffy90 reacted to AbydosOne in Shortcuts for changing Audio and Video i/o?
Again, IIRC, you can set monitor profiles (arrangements and selected active displays) and then you can bind shortcuts to those profiles.
-
Scruffy90 reacted to LogicalDrm in Shortcuts for changing Audio and Video i/o?
DisplayFusion can change monitor settings with profiles (which you can bound to hotkeys or events). Its not fast like a snap. It still takes few seconds to load profile settings, like it would if you manually change monitor settings in Windows.
Audio settings can be saved to per monitor profile. But there are also feature which allows to to change them on the fly with hotkeys or from quick list. Though its limited to selecting next/previous device, not going directly to certain device. There are scripts/macros made by users to limit available devices to just those you want https://www.displayfusion.com/ScriptedFunctions/View/?ID=1a08e51d-3210-4433-a507-76cae4bc7b1f
And ofc you could use AutoHotKey. For audio https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=49980 and for monitors https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/20084-secondary-monitor/

Possibly physical damage or forcing the lid shut with something in between the screen and keyboard. That black spot with no LCD leak looks like a point of impact.

Scruffy90 reacted to thrasher_565 in Controlling different RGB together
i found some software the lets you do it all from one software. i dont no how it works thow or what it works with. in my guide i have a software section.
if you wanted to hook it all to one controller that could be doable at a cost and only serten animations will work thow.

Thanks for the advice.
I guess it all comes down to number 3. Technically no, since anything that is immediately visible on the exposed side of the case is clean. However, when I do like the ability to quickly be able to swap things should anything go wrong.

Scruffy90 reacted to Apollo190 in Cyberpunk 2077 no dlss vs dlss comparison at 1440p [3080|10900K]
It's the msi afterburner on-screen display.
There was a new nvidia driver aimed for cyberpunk, few hours before release. Maybe you didn't install it yet. Otherwise, it's possible that your system can't handle ultra settings without DLSS. As you can see even 3080 gets only 40fps without dlss if everything is on ultra at 1440p. DLSS basically makes your system render at lower resolution and then it uses AI to upscale to higher resolution, that's my understanding of it at least.

Scruffy90 reacted to SupaKomputa in Erasing drives to prep for sale?
Just use secure erase from the ssd software, any ssd software should have this.
Or you can just use the wipe function came with every free partition editor.
It would take around 30min - several hours, depending on the drive speed.
Using several passes not recommended, it would hurt the ssd. On HDD it's fine.
-
Scruffy90 reacted to The_russian in Erasing drives to prep for sale?
For hard drives use DBAN, it overwrites the data on the drive with 1s or 0s. For that reason you don't want to use DBAN for SSDs, it will decrease the life of them.
For SSDs, most drive manufacturers like WD and Seagate have a tool that will securely erase the drive.

first figure out where you want it then locate the studs you will need to mount what ever shelf you choose to the studs if not the drywall will fail and your tower will be smashed and what ever else it hits on the way to the floor. i realy would not recomend it unless its a small form facter case. thats my 2 cents

If you don't need a managed switch or POE, the NETGEAR 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (GS308) is a good option at around $20.

Scruffy90 reacted to Radium_Angel in Keep getting prompted for chkdsk on start up despite having run chkdsk
That's really bizarre....
This program will do a detailed sector analysis, and will tell you if there is anything wrong with it, but the UI is confusing and you need to pick your options *very carefully* because the program will also happily erase your drive too....
