  1. Have you monitored your CPU temperatures at all? Using a program life RealTemp or CoreTemp
  2. This game actually looks pretty darn interesting Here's a "Gameplay / Walkthrough" video of the preview build - I'm impressed and intrigued...
  3. It is. If I remember correctly it supports 7.1 Edit: Double checked, yes it supports up to 7.1
  4. I use RealTemp, but CoreTemp is a good alternative as well. My MSI gaming laptop idles around 45 - 50°C, while my desktop PC idles around 28°C. Yes the laptop runs much hotter, under full load while gaming it really pumps out serious heat. I've had it for just over 2 years and it still running fine. P.S. I'll run Dragon Age: Inquisition later and post the temps for you
  5. Great game, I would definitely recommend it
  6. A lot of people prefer rice. You can also try a hairdryer, but don't hold it too close to the phone (don't cook it) or find a place with warm ambient temperature and leave it there for a few days. Wife has a S4 Zoom (S4 with a purpose-built camera in) which our 15-month old daughter decided to drop in the toilet (it was clean, if you're wondering). Phone was drowned, wife did switch it on, screen went wonky, then switched it off... Left it in a very warm place (not direct sunlight) and a week later it works 100%, camera, lens, everything. Great advertisement for Samsung IMO.
  7. MSI, Why? Because I have one and it OC like a beast.
  8. I take NO credit for this article, it is a copy and paste from LazyGamer @ http://www.lazygamer.net/general-news/nvidias-gtx970-has-a-rather-serious-memory-allocation-bug/ purely to bring information to the masses. NVidia’s GTX 970 is the current price-to-performance darling, offering incredible visual for incredible value. It seems, however, that it’s harbouring a dark secret. It’s a 4GB card, but it looks like a significant chunk of that VRAM doesn’t work. According to a number of rather angry people on Reddit, Overlock and the Guru3D forums who’ve noticed their shiny, powerful GTX 970’s come to a screeching halt when maxing out their cards. Clever people, using VRAM benchmarking software, have discovered that when the last 500`700MB of VRAM gets accessed, memory performance drops significantly. Some users have even found that their cards go belly up when hitting 3GB. The issue doesn’t seem to affect the more expensive, more powerful 980 – so it’s not a Maxwell fault, but rather one specific to the 970. DRAM bandwidth drops from a peak of over 150GB/s, right down to 19.88 GB/s. “Going beyond 3.5GB vram usage in games like Hitman Absolution, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare severely degrades the performance, as if the last 512mb is actually being swapped from the RAM,” says Reddit user nanogenesis in a thread on the subject. The problems seems to be widespread – and Nvidia’s admitted that problem affects every single 970 (to varying degrees). They’re looking in to the issue – but unless it’s something that can be resolved via driver or firmware update, a recall may be on the cards. “We are still looking into this and will have an update as soon as possible,” said NVidia community liaison ManuelG on the GeForce forums. We asked our resident cabbage, Alessandro – who owns a GTX 970 – to test, and he was hit with the same results. You can download the benchmark to try it yourself, here. If you require the extra library to run the benchmark, you can get it here. While the card is still a performance champ, it makes it hard to recommend right now, as it’ll never reach its full potential. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket and you’re aching to buy a new card, you may just prefer to opt for the 980, which isn’t affected by this. Or you could, loathe as I am to say it, wait to see what AMD has up its sleeve.
  9. I'm thinking the same thing, you did check to see if it's not the PSU that died, right?
  10. I'm going to agree with the majority of folks in this post, I too think the GTX 970 will do a great job - even better if it's discounted
  11. From South Africa to the European servers of World of Tanks I used to get 160 - 170ms ping, and the US East usually 210 - 230 ms.
  12. The spray job looks better than I thought it would, but way too much work and the possibility of bricking the board... ouch. I wonder if / when motherboard manufacturers will come out with interchangeable coloured plastic "sleeves" that fit (clip) over the PCI-e slots, RAM slots and other coloured accent parts on the motherboard - kind of like Corsair with their coloured rings on the water coolers. Ship a board with red, blue, yellow and white "sleeves" and leave it up to the enthusiast to choose which colour (s)he prefers on their motherboard. People would be willing to pay for options like that.
