  1. Do you think it would be worth going with 4k and bumping down settings for some games, and running on 1080 for any newer games that come out that really fall short in fps? Im currently using a old 1080p monitor which I intended to upgrade when building a my new pc... And I'm not sure if I want to get another 1080p or 1440p monitor since 4k will probably be much more plausible in the coming years... Do you think it would be worth getting the 4k monitor and just upgrading the gpu or getting sli in the next year or so, or just get a 1080p or 1440p monitor? I just dont really want to spend money on a new monitor only to want to get a 4k one in the next one or two years...
  2. Yea, if I decided not to wait for the 1080ti I would definitely get it during black Friday...
  3. Yea... That's one of the reasons I'm kinda skeptical about waiting, if its not going to be a big jump...
  4. I was considering eventually getting two, though this is the main reason that I was considering trying to wait for the 1080ti since I feel that the 1080 is not quite there yet for 4k... Do you think it would be worth trying to go to 4k with two 1080's (or 1080ti's if it comes out) now or just stick with 1080p or 1440p and wait a few more years?
  5. I'm planning to do a 4k build around black Friday this December. Since the 1080ti probably isnt going to be coming out before then, would It be a good idea to buy my other components on the black Friday sale and wait a bit for the 1080ti to come out? What do you think the performance difference would be like and do you think it would be worth the wait? I'm happy to wait a bit if the performance will be a decent increase over the 1080... However I wouldn't want to wait till sometime in Q2 Next year... So yea, what are your thoughts?
  6. I totally would except, laptop And its not worth the work of getting 3 hdds working in it anyway since Ill still have access to one of them through the nas
  7. Yea thats what I was thinking
  8. Not too sure if this is meant to be here since its more of a modification than a new build but whatever... I recently got ahold of a 1TB SSD and am planning on putting it in my computer, the downside being I only have space for two drives and it currently has a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD in it. So my options are: 1TB SSD (OS), 1TB HDD OR 256GB SSD (OS), 1TB SSD And I will be putting the remaining drive in my nas... Right now i'm leaning towards the second option but I'm interested as to what others think so yea, what's your opinion?
  9. Looks, great and that cpu will be great even without overclocking
  10. Cool, I figured as much, but yea definately don't get that CPU... I have had friends who tried AMD for CPU and GPU, both had problems, especially with the CPU...
  11. I would be wary of using a AMD CPU, my friend has the same one and he hates it, bottlenecks loads with his 780, switching to intel would probably be a good idea... Everything else looks pretty good, the PSU seems a bit on the high side for wattage but that doesn't matter much.
  12. I would love to use PC Part picker and actually did at the start of this, except it doesn't have all the components nor all the stores which is why I didn't use it.
  13. dunno about BBC code, but I can tinyurl them in the future
  14. Thanks btw to everyone who has helped out so far

I left the SSD the same though if I can find a better one like what was mentioned below for a reasonable price ill totally run with it... As for your mention of the liquid cooler, that stuff wont be bought till a while after we build the computer so its mostly undefined, I just left it in the notes as well, notes We probably will just be getting a normal cooler...
  16. Oh and the motherboard might be being swapped out for the one I mentioned in the post below...
  17. The 1080p monitor will most likely be replaced with a 4k one in the future but atm its not exactly appropriate to blow upwards of 500 on just the monitor..
  18. The cooler is stock and will be for the first few months untill we eventually plan to get a proper one. As for the fans they are more of an undecided factor as we will most likely decide on which ones we are getting at the time we get them, the asus ones are just there as more of a placeholder... The AIO is a monitor not a cooler
  19. Thanks for pointing that out, I misread something and was actually thining about that earlier, but dismissed it... Would this be better? http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=MBDGBM2923&name=Gigabyte-Z97X-Gaming-3-for-Intel-Socket-1150Intel-
  20. Using 800W because when a 2nd 980 is added it will need that much... as for the SSD thanks, ill look into it. Dunno if it will be possible though due to the extra cost but maybe A friend of mine has a V300 though and from what I have seen has had great performance out of it so yea Edit: Looking over the SSD, its alot cheeper than I remember it being still around $30 more expensive, but if we can fit it into the budget then we totally will thanks
  21. So me and a friend are helping one of my other friends build a computer for their birthday soon... The budget is 3k nzd and it needs to include a keyboard,mouse,monitor ect ect.... Anyway we got the build pretty much finalised so I figured I might aswell post it here to see what people had to say about it $140 Case --> http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?e=2795390 <=> NZXT S340 <-> http://tinyurl.com/nua7e28 $235 MB --> http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=2650062 <=> Gigabyte Z97X <-> http://tinyurl.com/o6xp33y $140 PSU --> http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=1801332 <=> In-Win Commander III 800W <-> http://tinyurl.com/p57f7le $110 RAM --> http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=2592472 <=> Kingston Fury White 2x4GB 1866MHz DDR3 <-> http://tinyurl.com/pd624ue $90 SSD --> http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=1498545 <=> Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB <-> http://tinyurl.com/p2d5uro $320 CPU --> http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=2677308 <=> Core i5 4690K 3.5Ghz <-> http://tinyurl.com/o5ngh45 $1,370 GPU --> http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=3174962 <=> 980Ti Superclocked 6GB <-> http://tinyurl.com/ou3wrhp $325 Monit --> http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=3007830 <=> AOC i2477Fwq 23Inch 1920x1080 IPS <-> http://tinyurl.com/nfjp7w5 Extra Snuff: $3x2 SATA --> http://tinyurl.com/ozqfdwu <=> 0.5M Generic SATA Cable $60 Fans --> http://tinyurl.com/plg76qp <=> Cooler Master 120 $10 ThermP --> http://tinyurl.com/ph7pte9 <=> Deepcool THP Just for info, the pricespy links are just links to the general parts, the tinyurl links are to the best places we can get said parts from... Mmk, that's about it.
