ps - If anyone in the North Island of New Zealand is interested in purchasing this desk (entire thing, with all the parts in it) you can PM me and we might be able to sort something out. Would come drop it off anywhere in the North Island as there is no way I would trust a shipping company.

Looking to do another desk once this is finished and the build log will exclusively be on this forum

5 Times huh? So you're the reason Dropbox emailed me telling me that I am using an extreme amount of bandwidth
You won't really get by using a dremel to make a desk. If I were to recommend one tool only, I would say get a jigsaw. It is definitely the tool I have used most on this project, and I use it when modding metal cases too.
You do not need to have "good components" to make an awesome desk, just make it as awesome as you possibly can, and as long as it makes you feel like you've accomplished something then that is all that matters

    a quick update

Have been waiting for a few weeks for my order from PPCS containing my mod/smart clips and also my extra Mayhems Orange Concentrate, as well as some yellow dye (To make the orange a more richer orange)

I started playing around with them with my GPU Cables. They aren't as nice of clips as I thought they would be. They leave the cables quite loose where as I would rather them be tight so it would leave the cables how i'd like them.

I went off to the shed and grabbed a spare trash sheet of 3mm Perspex that I will use for my compression clamp for the cable management. I forgot to take pics, but It is pretty basic. Measure, drill holes. Give edges a sand with 400 grit sandpaper. Simple
It works great, clamps the cables down perfectly!

I forgot to think about the GPU cables while doing the 24-pin.. hehe.
I just screwed another motherboard stand-off so that allowed me room to put the GPU cables underneath

Since my SSD's are in an awkward place, this is how I routed my Sata Data cables. Had to tape them on to make things super easy as it's near impossible to try wiggle them into the right place when the board is sitting on the standoffs.

After being happy with how the cables were it was time to chuck the loop back together

Eugh, yuck. It's a shame that the cables at the PSU end look so bunched up. There isn't a way around it, it's the tidiest I can achieve with how I have laid the desk out. With the next desk I build I will certainly have the cables route under the desk so no bunchyness can be seen. Mind due I don't think the cables look as horrible as they could have been!

Took some clips off of the CPU cable to tidy things up a little

Really happy with this end of the cabling!

There is an extra Sata cable, and a USB 2.0 Cable that comes out of the Akasa media box thing (can't remember what they're called... oopsie) that I will not be needing at the moment, though will be adding them in the future so just cleanly hiding them under it for now

Right, the last picture for this update. That I will explain in the next update, see you next time

Right, So a little update. Been super busy with work and with study so haven't had much time to do the desk. Even though the updates are getting smaller, the desk is nearly finished!

    to do-
*Fan wiring from rad 1 to rad 2
    *Keyboard tray
    *Cable Management

First things first, (To my New Zealanders on the forums) www.computerlounge.co.nz sponsored me some replacement Black SATA Data cables to replace my red ones and also an NZXT 2m White LED Kit so thank you very much for this!

Anyways! I started with wiring up my GPU cables. measuring every wire, and not one being the same length. A long process however well worth it

Since double cables are the such a pain in the arse I soldered them in just for extra security as the "wings" do not bite into the top wire because of the 2-wire thickness

A long while later the cable was done! Just to make sure the measurements were accurate I put some rubber bands on them. This also helps "train" the wires so that they stay like that.

Both wires done, took me about 3 hours...

Time to sleeve! When sleeving double wires you lose the general sense of where the sleeve has to end up, and you can't really use a sleeving tool to line it up either as 16awg and 18awg would need different spacings etc *blah blah blah* TL;DR: I mark some lines to where the sleeve needs to go to with a sharpie, meaning an accurate result every time!

I then use a "dummy" connector to put the pin in while it is still hot. This comes in really handy when you have done the bottom row of double cables. Instead of trying to push ANOTHER double set on the bottom row, it is good to have the dummy connector. It lets the shrink cool down, and set with the "box" shape so that it will be easy to slide into the proper connector without deforming it.

    Finished cable

Don't think I need to elaborate too much on a basic Sleeving FAQ. For any help look at Lutro0 on YouTube. You will never need to watch another tutorial after watching his

    Midway through the 24-pin

Done! 3.5 hours of sleeving results in one 24-pin... lol

Cables in and doing a test fit. Very happy with how it's looking!
NOTE: I will probably be using the Modsmart cable clips for about 2 months. Then take them off. This should allow time for the cables to be trained and need no supports. It will be super tidy, was considering cable lacing them but personally I think it doesn't look THAT great. Trained cables needing no support will look much better

That is all for now, will have the build done by 1st of September I promise!

I've been asked by a number of people in these forums to post my build in these log threads. I guess I didn't post it in the right section in the beginning so many of you have seen this already in another section. I have added some photos to try to give more detail on how this mod went down. Here goes,

I started water cooling about a year ago and realized I was actually able to unlock more performance from my PC by doing this. But I kind of got a fever or addiction you might say because it didn't stop at just adding pumps, hoses, and liquid to my case. I watched a lot of Youtube and I particularly like Singularity Computers builds. I also like the build he did in the Silverstone TJ11 with dual pumps and the graphics cards positioned vertically. I looked around the web for a long time trying to find a case other than Silverstone's that had the graphics cards positioned like that but there aren't any. So when I found Caselabs I knew I wanted to mod one of these cases. From the info I collected off the internet I was able to make a drawing scale 1:1 to see if and how my components would fit and also radiator size and placement.

Once I knew I had a chance of making this work I dropped the bomb and placed the order for a Merlin SM8. It took about a week and a half but it arrived fully assembled. I pulled it out of the box and immediately started taking it apart. Once I got the mid panel out I was able to determine my plan better as to how I was going to make the new mid panel mount in it's place. I went to Home Depot and I bought some 3/8" aluminum angle stock and some 1". I bought a few boxes of 6-32 screws because this is what Caselabs holes are all tapped at. I wanted to keep all the screws the same thread size just like Caselabs did. I bought a countersink bit for my drill. Next I went to a local metal supply warehouse and bought a sheet of .093 6061 grade aluminum. Then I took all this to the shop where I work so I would have a place to do the work.

So I got to work installing the framework for the new panel.

I used the existing mid panel holes made by Caselabs to mount my angles to. Then it was time to cut the new panel to fit perfectly. Next I was left with what to do with the back panel of the case where the motherboard tray originally slid in. That was easy. Put some fans there. So I went to Home Depot to get an aluminum sheet to make a panel for this but all they had was steel. So steel it was. I got a gage thick enough to be strong because I could only make four holes for the mounting bolts.

I originally painted this back panel flat black but I realized it look terrible so I made another trip to Home Depot to look for paint. I found one. This paint matched the powdercoat finish from Caselabs perfectly. Look at the pic of the back section. I only painted the new cover panel.

So next I had to cut the top rails where Caselabs as the frame for their drop in panels. I had to make the opening big enough for the motherboard tray to slide in and out without hitting the rails. Once dropped in the tray would sit on the 1" angle and support it.

I put the new mid panel back in and I removed the motherboard tray slides from the original mid panel and installed the slides perfectly on the new mid panel.

Mid panel removed again I started ctting the holes for the cables to pass through. This was a little harder because I had to drill big holes and then across them to make them elongated which turned out quite sloppy but after a day of filing I got them cleaned up nicely. and I then started to apply the DINOC carbon look vinyl.

So here is what the new panel looks like installed

I did some touch up painting and cut the screws to a flush custom length and any other details I found that needed attention. Next was time to make a support panel for the PSU. This took a day because it was a lot of work for one thing and I screwed up the first panel I made. It took a lot of filing and then painting and drilling holes precisely where they needed to be. I was glad to get it done but again it worked out perfectly

So now I was at a point where I could start installing components. I started at the bottom with the radiators. I was going for attacking them so I had to make brackets to accomplish this.

I had to cut the cover plate for the front I/O hole so that it would fit in the narrow space.

So a lot of the work that didn't get photographed was just installing parts and getting my loop runs to work out. I started this build as a single loop setup. Money was the reason. I kept ordering fittings as the weeks went on and staring at the build coming up with ideas. Caselabs has come out with a whole bunch of neat fan covers and vented covers so I placed a couple of orders there too. They were great to deal with. Caselabs customer service is the best. One idea I had was to make a custom junction block for all the LED lighting. I sent Molex an email and they sent me free samples of their terminals and I went to Radio Shack to acquire a PC board to made this custom junction.

At this point I still didn't know what I wanted to do with the door panel. Window? No. I had one in the last build with the Corsair 650D case and it didn't do anything for me. I had this idea

At this point I'd like to just post the rest of the build completed

Unfortunately I had a few more better pictures and one of my complete setup but the file size was to big. They were taken with a different camera. So I hope you enjoy what I've posted and thank you to all of those people who gave me compliments in the other thread section.

Hello everyone! now it's time for me to share the worklog of my latest build. The Titanium S.
This is a collaboration work with my friend Ejay Bosquit where he is my first client. He really requested that I should build him a special modded rig and since he agreed that I will void every warranty of the parts that he will buy and I'm the one who will be deciding the entire look of the build, so I said "Yes! Let's build it."
I let Ejay choose which hardware he will buy and use for this build since he has the budget to do so and basically he is the financer of this build. And on the modding and design part, that would be my responsibility.
    So let's start.
First, I wanted to create a new Flagship for my Titanium family. And this will be perfect. It has no theme like the Titanium, just pure freedom.
But this time it will be better. Better 90degree motherboard tray conversion, unique color theme, better layout and sexier look.
That's why I called it Titanium "S". Because for some reason it's Special, Sporty, Sexy and and it's about Speed.
    Spec List:
