  1. Greetings! I recently moved and I have my internet through Xfinity. The modem is sitting in the living room and the Xbox and 4K TV are wired up via Ethernet directly into the modem. My PC however is in my room, on the opposite side of the apartment, and connected via WiFi, which as you could imagine is spotty and really not great. The internet coming in is over Coaxial into the back of the modem, and typically we get around 250 Mbps. However in my room, I'm getting 6... Is there any way that I could use the existing Coaxial hookups in the apartment to somehow extend a hardwire into my bedroom? I'd really rather not run an Ethernet cable all the way from the living room into my bedroom... Thanks!
  2. I agree with you that a Chromebook would be fine for her, but she absolutely will want to stick with Windows because she's weird like that.
  3. I know for a fact that she will not want to use anything except Windows, so Chromebooks aren't an option.
  4. Thanks for the help guys. After discussing this, my mother said fuck it and just wants a new laptop.
  5. Title says it all. My mother needs a laptop that isn't garbage like her current one. (See this thread) She asked to be able to keep it around or below 500$. Will be used for general office things like browsing the internet, using word, watching eagle cams.... etc.
  6. Would this CPU really be that bad for being used as a Word and Browsing machine?
  7. I planned on upgrading the RAM anyways, was just curious as to the root cause of all this. I have yet to see the RAM get topped out, but the disk usage is constant 100%.
  8. My mother has a cheap laptop that was bought a few years ago. I'm not sure about the specs of it, but I know that it only has 2GB of RAM and a very slow hard drive. When I use the thing, it takes forever to do absolutely anything, and with task manager opened the disk usage is pinned at 100%, and the RAM is at 70-80%. It's used for general office tasks, so the slowness of it is kind of a huge hindrance. So question: If I slap an SSD into it, will that help it not suck as much?
  9. I normally don't like to be an asshole, but: Right in my original post.
  10. Title says it all. With income taxes coming up I think its about time that I upgrade my main monitor from 1080p to 1440p, but I really do not want to go any lower refresh rate wise. The current monitor I have is the ASUS PG248QE (https://www.asus.com/Monitors/VG248QE/). I'm looking for a 2560 × 1440 with a 144Hz refresh rate. Cheaper would be the best option, but if you can find me a badass one that won't break my bank like the ROG Swift, that would be superb. Also I'm sorry if you've seen a million of these threads...
  11. Well if you're not into clicky, then I would go with Corsair. Their keyboards are decent sized and well built, you can't go wrong with a Corsair keyboard. Pay that 130$ once and you're good for a few years with that keyboard.
  12. Corsair has absolutely amazing build quality, I've been using a Vengeance K70 for the past 2 years and haven't had a single issue with it. (Replacing it for clicky keys) I've heard that Pokers have really good build quality as well, so really it comes down to what kind of key you want. As far as I know, Corsair doesn't manufacture keyboards with CherryMX Blues anymore (I read a post somewhere where a Corsair person said they don't make Blue keyboards anymore) None of the keys that Corsair offers (Black and Red) are tactile/clicky, so if you're into that, I would go with the Poker 3 since they offer them in Blues/Browns/Green/etc.
  13. So I bought a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2016 about 3 weeks ago, then returned it a week later due to one of the keys being messed up. I bought a G910 Orion Spectrum, didn't like it, so I got a refund for it and bought another Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2016. (I like the way the keys feel and the noise they make) This keyboards backspace key is messed up. It doesn't feel as tactile as all the other keys, it has some resistance when it comes back up, and sometimes it will just stick half way up after I use it. Any ideas on how to fix this? I'm pretty upset that both keyboards I've bought from Razer have had some sort of key issue.
  14. For those of you with a G3 from AT&T, when was your last update, and what Android version are you on? (D850) I'm only on 5.0.1, and I'm starting to wonder if maybe something is wrong with my phone. My last update was in October.
