  1. Hey all, I'm not a regular here despite having an account for awhile. I generally do my own troubleshooting but I'm at my wits end right now with my Lenovo legion y740 17.3in 9750h 2070mq model laptop. I've replaced the ram with 2x16gb of crucial ballistix 2666 and the killer wifi chip with an Intel ax 200 chip. This laptop was literally working yesterday, like I was on discord, chrome, even a few casual hearthstone games, it was fine. But today I flipped the lid open and its boot cycling. Here is a link of that: https://drive.google.com/file/d/18OaVsXwIEY9gUMpsu_i82EpA8osNveZF/view?usp=drivesdk a 1m video. I already unplugged everything when I took the video and in fact it's doing it right now as I write this. My troubleshooting steps: hold power button to turn it off all the way, and turn it back on. Unplug everything. Unplug everything but the second monitor to see if that gets a signal. Try to boot from windows media tool on a USB. Reseat ram. Try stock ram kit that came with the laptop. Take out aftermarket wifi 6 chip. Take out all storage. (500gb ssd and HDD) No storage plus USB stick to try to boot. Hold shift +f8 as told by Lenovo forum for Thinkpad (just to try) F1, f2, f3, etc while cold booting. Fn F1... Etc while cold booting. Shift f1... Etc while cold booting. HDMI cable to monitor rather than display port. Letting it boot cycle all night to drain the battery, then try to power it on again. Letting it sit til full charge again then try to power on. Dusting the fans out. I don't know what to do anymore. Can someone help me please?
  2. i recommend 16gb, i run chrome in the background and i stream at the same time. i wind up using like 7.2gb of 8 right now
  3. https://www.amazon.com/SilverStone-Technology-Gaming-Computer-Case/dp/B01K49W7L6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474590487&sr=8-1&keywords=Silverstone+RL05
  4. ebay engineering samples. cuz f the police... i cant afford a 5820k q.q
  5. also if i am seeming stubborn, its not that. i am only just making absolute sure about this before i decide to change my mind. $1500 is no joke for money for me, that is literally MY WHOLE LIFE SAVINGS right now. i am also a really avid debator, i like to analyze the arguments at hand and present evidence on what i know, if there is something i am unaware of it is usually argued against me like this and i back up my claims with evidence and if it is still incorrect on my part like this could be, then i will change to something that is more suited for my budget sorry if you are offed by this btw
  6. i cant buy like today or even in the next week. i have been saving for awhile and i only recently realized how expensive $2000 is. i am still saving even now! i have to save a grand total of around $1700 for the computer, and $200 of that is the replace the mobo in this one, get another, cheaper psu so i can keep my g2, and add 8gb more ram. i did do some research on the processor and it looks like it turbos up to around 2.6-2.7ghz on all cores making that about in line with something like an i5 6400, but with 3x the cores and 6x the threads again this is for 1080p gaming with recording happening and maybe streaming as well. i dont want to ever get into capture cards and having 2 pcs for this
  7. How did this topic even come to be my cpu choice... I just wanted to know what gpu is better for the money q.q
  8. Arent x79 boards like stupid expensive. I think they go for like $330 or something like that here. So i would be spending $100 less on the processor and $100 more on the mobo?
  9. Do you really think i should spend $50 less on the mobo and $90 less on the ram and get a 6700k? Im not completely against the idea, i just feel like the xeon will be similar in games at 1080p and will help out with multitasking
  10. Have you watched any of tech city's videos? He buys and makes used computers with em all the time dude and they work just fine.
  11. What 8 core? The 2670 v3 is a 12 core. Not to be confused with the 2670 v1 for 2011 non 3 Also there is no 6 core that can be fit into my budget. (unless i got a 1.6ghz one for the same price new and non es)
  12. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/gokufighther/saved/ybGmP6 Cut $240 off the total price (for the lg monitor, that will be an upgrade) and the price is $1600 exact, if i half the ram i can cut 90 off the price as well.
  13. It can fit and work fine... I mean the only thing i really need to change is getting less ram, get 16gb instead of 32, but im going to be using the computer for cybersecurity classes, it will be used during college next year for engineering, it will be used for gaming as well as document keeping and maybe video editing and recording for youtube and twitch as a hobby. I could go for a 6700k, but i just feel like the xeon would perform better and i really do love that motherboard
  14. I can get a 470 fpr around $200, a 1060 3gb for $230, a 970 for $200 or a 780ti for around $170-$200
