  1. As the title suggests, I'd like to install OS X alongside of my Windows 8.1 installation. I have absolutely no idea how to do this, or where to start. Most, if not all, tutorials I've seen require having a Mac/some legit copy of Apple's OS. I have neither. I know there are .isos that can be downloaded, I just don't know if those work with making a hackintosh for whatever reason. I have an AMD 8350, a GTX 970 and 8 gbs of ram. Any information/tutorial links would be appreciated
  2. When it comes to me buying computer parts, I get a bit excited and I usually end up buying the wrong thing the first time. I still haven't learned my lesson... My Stock CPU cooler just died a few weeks ago and I had wanted to try and learn about water cooling. Just starting out simple, I looked on Newegg and I decided that the h50i would be a dandy place to start. I was on the app at the time, my computer was MIA and my laptop was nowhere to be found, so I ended up buying the h50i. It didn't dawn on me until 5 minutes after I had received the cooler a few days after that the product was "Intel only". It didn't dawn on me because Newegg had it bundled with an AMD CPU even though it was for Intel only and that really threw me off. Anyways, I've sat on it for a few weeks too long and now I can't send it back (Or at least I have until the 18th of this month until they no longer accept it). I've looked around every major computer parts store and even smaller stores and I cannot for the life of me find a bracket for it. Corsair's listed retailers either don't have it, really expensive or is out of stock. I looked on Ebay and Amazon and no luck. The only store that I did find that had it was some store that was selling JUST the bracket for 30$ plus like 14$ standard 14 day shipping and there's no way in hell I'm paying for that. I saw a thing on a LTT video where he used zipties to rig the cooler up to the CPU and I was wondering if that would be an okay choice, at least for a few weeks until I can buy an i5/i7 and compatible motherboard, and also how I would even go about doing it? I watched the video, but I'm still nervous thinking about it. TL;DR Bought wrong cooler; incompatible with AMD mounting - Can I rig it up using zipties and if so, is it sustainable for a few weeks? Also - how would I go about doing it?
  3. Hello! I've posted several posts on XDA forums with absolutely no response. Maybe my wording is complicated so please bear with me. I currently have an LG G3 from carrier US Cellular. Running it's stock ROM, Android 4.4, basically brand new. I want to install CM12 and would like to know if I even can. I understand the model number is different and I have absolutely no idea what that means to tell you the truth. I'm not a phone expert, somewhat new to Android, and definitely new to rooting and installing ROMs. I absolutely hate LG's skin and it's ruining the experience of having this beautiful phone. A TL;DR if needed Phone: LG G3 Carrier: US Cellular (US990) Can I install CM12? I appreciate ANY feedback/help.
  4. I don't remember what Motherboard I bought, I do remember it's an MSI though. It's probably throttling.
  5. So a few days ago I made a thread asking if my AMD FX-8350(4.26Ghz running a stock cooler) was bottlenecking my new GTX 970 ASUS Strix. The general public agreed that my 970 was indeed NOT being bottlenecked by my CPU, however most said ditch the stock cooler and go with hxxxi series cooler, which I plan on doing. So if it is indeed NOT my CPU bottlenecking, why has my performance not been drastically changed? I was expecting to be running everything on Ultra with absolutely NO dips in framerate. That's not the case. My PCs specs are listed below - CPU: AMD FX-8350 ( 4.26ghz ) GPU: ASUS GTX 970 Strix ( Factory OC ) PSU: 700w RAM: 8GBs HDD: 1TB SSD: None Now, I upgraded from a 660ti to 970 for the more graphically intense games coming out later. But the games that I usually play with framerate average below - 660ti 970 BF4 55-60 50-60 (heard this was from CPU but I don't know) ACU 30-40 40-40 Awful optimization FC4 55-60 50-60 Could have been better I heard FC3 50-60 60 I don't know, ran fine AMRA 3 20-21 20-22 Awful, I don't know how people get 60FPS Witcher 2 30-32 35-35 Heard people got 60FPS no problem with Ubersampling off, so I tried that, still 35 both off and on The Crew 55-60 60 Game runs fine on both cards, not a single problem Dragon Age: Inquisition 57-60 55-60 Ran at 60 until I went to the first open area, then dropped to the 50s Star Citizen 45-60 58-60 No real problems other than ingame bugs Minecraft (with shaders) 45-60 45-50 I think this is a CPU problem? I don't know. Oh, not to mention - I wasn't using 1080p but rather 1400x900. If anything, the performance should have been way better than what it was. I know I should have either gotten an Intel i5 with the 370$ I spent on Strix, but I didn't think the 8350 would bottleneck if that's even the problem. Ventilation could be a problem, but then again, I don't know. I do know it's usually hot in my room anyways, and having my computer on playing games makes it worse. I currently have a Corsair 300R case with the stock 2 fans that came with it. Sitting on a small table to the right of me, by the wall. I ran Unigine 4.0 Valley and got a score of 3055 on Ultra with 1400x900. Yes I know my monitor is worthless, but it works. Question is - Why am I not getting 60fps easily with this card? Is it my PSU? My heating? My CPU? Or is it because the card isn't OC? Any response is great, thank you.
  6. So I did that, changed the res to match my 1400x900 and my score was 3055. Ran Heaven 4.0 same thing score was 2300~ I think.
  7. Okay. so my GPU usage while playing DA:I was 85%+ and my CPU usage was 41%~, Got up to 62C and it stayed there. My FPS was pretty much 60 with the occasional dip.
  8. Okay so just yesterday I got my new GTX 970 ASUS Strix in, and it is a gorgeous card. Now upgrading from a 660ti to a 970, I was extremely excited. However, when I was playing some games, I quickly became depressed. At the time of building my PC, I was on a bit of a budget so I went with an AMD CPU rather than intel because intel is more expensive. Please don't tell me what a bad choice I made. Current PC Specs - AMD FX-8350 ( Stock cooled ) GTX 970 ASUS Strix 8gbs of RAM 1TB HDD 700W PSU Also a horrible monitor ( 1400x900 ) Now, with my 660ti I was getting fine and dandy FPS in most games running at high or better but I knew newer games would require more demanding hardware. I went with the 970 because it, from what I was told, was the best price/performance. I'll admit, I probably should have gotten an i5 with the money I spent on the 970, but I didn't think the 8350 would bottleneck me this much. So far, I've seen maybe a 2% increase in performance? The games I've tested so far - 660ti Battlefield 4 - usually at 60~ with some settings turned down, no AA except when looking at explosions (large explosions) and Levelution Assassin's Creed Unity - Ughhh, 30~ ish on all settings, turning them up or down didn't really effect performance No AA Farcry 4 - 60~ on mostly high, simulated fur turned off. No AA Dragonage: Inquisition - 50-60 on High, no AA except for cutscenes that ran like a rat at 30fps ARMA 3 - 20fps on med settings Skyrim ( Modded ) - 30fps with in-game set to high and with 100+ mods installed including 4k textures on a bunch of things 970 Battlefield 4 - 50-60 on Ultra and when looking at large map centers, dropped to sometimes 30 no AA AC:U - 40~ didn't matter what settings, no AA Farcry 4 - 45~ simulated fur, 54~ Ultra enhanced fur DA:I - 50~ on ultra no AA and still 30 on the ratrace cutscenes. ARMA 3 - 20 on ultra no AA Skyrim ( Modded ) - 60FPS no sweat, but the game crashed before I could go anywhere worthwhile. Now, I asked on tomshardware if it was my CPU and a lot of the replies said no. So, I'm not sure if my 970 is defective or what. So I'm coming here and asking again. Is my CPU - AMD FX-8350 Stock cooled not OC - bottlenecking my 970 strix?
