Kudryavka Aveen reacted to IceTalian in AMD vs. NVIDIA
OK guys, I hope if you are trying to decide between which card to get, here you go.

    AMD : Amazing Frames
    AMD: Bad Drivers
    AMD: Cheaper
NVidia: Amazing Frames but not as good as 290x
    NVidia: No noticeable micro-stutter
NVidia: More of a choice between cards

Now, AMD cards have micro-stutter that is noticeable, NVidia does not. AMD's drivers are horrid. NVidia's drivers are great. AMD is cheaper, NVidia is on the pricey side, AMD flagship cards frames are amazing. NVidias are amazing as well, but AMD's are better. NVidia has more of a selection with a certain card.

Kudryavka Aveen reacted to Samdb in Core i7 3770k versus 4770k
Firstly the 3770K and the 4770K are essentially the same CPU, the 3770K has more inefficient clocks than the 4770K leading to a lower amount of IPC (Instructions Per Clock). However the 3770K produces a lot less heat that the 4770K although it still uses thermal paste. The 4770K and the Haswell series of processors are notorious from having cheap thermal compound between the die and the IHS, leading to a greater heat output, leading to less overclocking capability. However the Haswell series of processors also uses less power than the previes generation Ivy Bridge CPU's, or the 3770K in your circumstance. The two CPU's use different chipsets; the 3770K uses the Z77 chipset and the 4770K uses the Z87 chipset. Z77 boards have come down a lot in price recently and you can get more for what you would pay for a Z87 board. However, buying a Z87 board gives the opportunity to upgrade in the future, to the next series of Broadwell processors. Intel follows a tick tock pattern, first with an architecture change, then a die shrink. Haswell is meant to be a "tick" cycle, meaning the next series of Intel CPU's may be much better than Haswell. Ultimately the choice lies on what you want, do you want a good overclocker with lower heat output, however is older and does not leave room to upgrade? Or do you want a newer CPU which has a higher IPC more heat and the opportunity to upgrade?

The extra 4 pin is to provide more power to the motherboard in order to maintain a stable high overclock. If you aren't going to do some record breaking overclock, leaving the 4 pin is fine.

good toilet paper (doesn't crumble to pieces) [lint free]
good paper towel (doesn't crumble to pieces)[lint free]
    [lint free] cloth.

if you want to make it easier use some isopropyl alcohol with one of the above, otherwise simply use plenty of elbow grease, fold over to a clean side and continue.
and repeat that until you can rub the processor or the heatsink (do both) and no thermal grease residue remains on the cloth/paper towel/toilet paper.

My idiot friend cleaned his intel stock heatsink yesterday, removed it, didn't re-apply thermal paste..

What's the worst case scenario? his computer is still working (I have no idea how it hasnt overheated or something yet)

No, the new Haswell chips are based on the 1150 socket, so the z87 motherboards wont be compatible with socket 1155, and z77 motherboards wont be compatible with socket 1150.

No, it will be a new socket LGA 1150.  CPU coolers from 1156/1155 will be compatible, but not CPUs.
