Got it to work, my motherboard did not like the RAM kit I had in, swapped it for a different kit and it seems to be fine!

make sure they are all the same refresh rate in the screen resolution > advance settings > monitor. It should work, i got my ASUS PB287Q (4K) and ASUS PG278Q (1440P) to work in  surround 1x2 when I had both monitors sett to 1440p resolution and 60hz (max refresh of my 4K monitor). So it should work as long as the resolution is the same and the refresh rate of the monitor are set the same.

edit: check to see in the (screen resolution > advance settings > monitor) settings that your new display is recognized by windows for 144hz

AdamH96 got a reaction from myrcene in Render Machine/Farm 3 or more GPUs OR Upgrade Current System
Most x99, x299 motherboards have multiple x8 and x16 slots on their boards and buying from a known brands (Evga, Asus, Gigabyte, etc.) they will do fine, just look for the features you need. The max is usually 4 slots, so if your going for more they are xeon/server boards and can cost a lot more. I don't use Octane but I do a bit of 3D rendering on my set up with both my GPUs (Using Blender's Cycles Renderer) so I am not sure if Octane allows to export render info to other machines.

The MAIN thing you have to worry about is "Slot Spacing" make sure there is a space between GPU slots because most GPUs are 2 slots thick, and you will run into spacing issues. Most of the time the top of the line motherboards have proper slot spacing for 4 GPUs.
Just as an example (red slots): https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132505CVF&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwordsCA-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwordsCA-PC-_-pla-_-Motherboards+-+Intel-_-N82E16813132505CVF&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqM3VBRCwARIsAKcekb3Nz5FI7QGlssJToCIn5b-78w8ItORWoeQBllJJKCbxNrEDxLFfzigaAuZ9EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Edit: I just looked at your current board and it supports 4 dual slot GPUs, I'd probably buy another one and stick a i7-6850K in there.

Just a heads up you can only use true 10-bit colour for your programs (photoshop, 3DS Max types) with a quardo card so you might end up not using the panel to its' fullest.

AdamH96 got a reaction from Zando_ in VRAM for photshop
I would go with the 4GB version, now this really depends on the size of the document and how many. When I am texturing in 8k x 8k, with multiple layers, sometimes multiple .psd files open I can use a decent amount of VRAM on my 8GB. If you are only photo-shopping smaller 1080p ish size files you could possibly  get away with 2GB but I would highly recommend a 4GB card if it's only 40 euros more.

for productivity it is really nice, so yes I would say it is a good investment. Also to note that Nvdia GPUs do not work with Freesync.

The VSX-531 should be fine, at 6ohms (which your speakers are 4/6) the receiver outputs 140W (Power Output: Watts per Channel (1kHz,1%THD@6ohm 1ch Driven)140 Watts)

You have to watch the ohms on your speakers, my R-15m are 8ohms and can output 80W, but your speakers are 6ohms so you should be fine.

But I am just one opinion.

set dynamic RAM preview to 0, see what happens. I remember I had a problem like this a long time ago.

EDIT: also the thread count should equal your CPU thread count (Guessing your using the 7700K, which would be 8)

    - Ya spawn killing is a problem I can agree with you on that, they are attempting to fix it, its ubi so low hope.
    - Small maps are just part of the game, once you keep playing for a while you will learn to loosen up as you learn the map flow and it won't feel as claustrophobic.
    - Some operators i don't like, but they have their place (also helps when your on a team and everyone knows what their supposed to do with their op.)
    - Yes I hate this (lighting i'm guessing) the next patch should help balance out the overblown and under exposed spots in maps.
    - kinda became the meta this season due to the 3 speed ops. hopefully it will slow down next DLC.
    - SSDs are your friend.

EDIT: with the E-sport thing, this game has the potential in terms of gameplay, but there is so many exploits i see in ESL it's a joke, also bugs and sever problems all the time. I wish they would get their ass in high gear, you can only hope.

joking aside. we have no idea. could be the next generation of card, could be the one after that or the one after that. you can certainly wait and see but a definitive answer does not exist

Well I am taking the pre-out subout to another receiver (an old AKAI AS-970) to drive two just as old Living Audio Model CE-1a and using the 10in subs on those as subwoofers, as the receiver can take the signal and put it into mono and drive both speakers in left and right ch. Or take the sub out and use my small Logitech Z623 8in sub as it takes RCA in, or both (I have a splitter). so I should be good there.

    Thanks!

It is a bit blurry because of the pixels not mapping perfectly to the UHD resolution, but it should be fine, you could also play at 1440, and I have played games at 1440p on my 4K display and they look good (until i got my 1440p 144hz monitor now i split games between the two) what GPU do you have?

Looking at fan speed and temperature is not how you determine how much your GPU is working.
There's this thing called "GPU usage" which tells you at what percentage it's working.

AdamH96 got a reaction from Techstorm970 in How will a GTX 1080 hold up against upcoming Vega and, later on, Volta?
No idea... if current trends continue it would be about XX60-XX70 Volta arc. performance which is in the 300-700 CAD range (£178 - £416). For £300 that is a great deal so don't worry about the future, there will always be something faster next year.

do you only play at 1080p? Cause i run MEC at 4K hyper settings with GPU memory limit off ( i see about 7.7GB VRAM max) and I average about 40-55Fps, sometimes into the 20-30s (i think) can you monitor your GPU usage? at 1080P a 1070 should run this at hyper np.

Edit: check CPU usage, frostbite 3 loves CPU OC and cores. open task manager, right click on the CPU graph, change graph to logical processors.

AdamH96 got a reaction from Stoggy26 in 4K Editing Build with Ryzen
What programs do you use? because GPUs only accelerate certain effects and encoding types in different programs, so if you don't game a 1080 would be overkill depending on application. Should really look up benchmarks for GPU acceleration for your program. other than that wait for Ryzen benchmarks to make your decision (Ryzen does look really good at this point) and possibly look at 32GB if your doing professional 4K work.

1440p 144hz, 1x 1080, 5820K. the 5820K give a good balance of gaming and 3D work and can always put in a broadwell CPU in later.
