  1. They're going to send out 4 letters to you and when that fails they'll stop. They don't seem to realise that most 'offenders' already know they are doing something illegal and just don't care. it has to be the most stupid thing yet.. and I swear some ISPs have already been doing it anyway. There is no solution to the problem unless you want to put half the country in prison.
  2. Yes! Thank you very much for your help guys, and thank you for the offer of the PT file but it's okay I found a fair bit of extra info on it, I read about sub interfaces but It didn't click until I saw that picture so yeah great work. My brain is satisfied.
  3. Yeah that's what I expected, in what situation would you be able to create multiple subnets on a switch, would it need to be 'smart' or managed so that it overlaps into layer 3? Also how would it be possible to split a subnet across multiple interfaces, so say I have 2 switches connected to separate ports but I want all the machines on the same subnet, can you just set say 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 as default gateways (You can't set the same one right?) and as long as everything is on the same subnet then it would all be able to communicate in the same way?
  4. Hi, I've been doing a lot of work involving networks recently at uni and I have a fairly long winded question. Say I want to separate up a bunch of hosts into different subnets, sometimes with in the same group (like 192.168.0.0/27, .0 - .31, .32 - .64 etc) and sometimes I want to put them in different class networks all together. Now my learning brain would say it is best to separate these subnets up physically as well, but I wanted to know what was actually possible. Could I have all these machines on a single switch and have multiples classes and multiple subnets? How would the default gateway work in that situation? (Because there is only one and not a few) Also would these subnets be able to communicate because they are on the same switch? I currently have a network drawn up in my head where there is a router with switches and each switch represents another subnet, whether its a different class or not. Is that a good solution? I know of VLANs a little bit but I'm not sure how you might apply them in this situation either. Thanks and sorry if I'm not being clear.
  5. I really wish I could delete facebook forever, I miss MSN messenger..
  6. I would agree that standard desktop PCs your average consumer might've once bought off the shelf from various brands (like your old dell PCs etc) are dead, but certainly we won't see all workplaces ditch all desktop machines and they won't die out completely. Therefore the argument itself is incorrect which is why I answered no. There are so many different sectors to the desktop market, just because one died doesn't mean they all will follow suit immediately. Again, stupid argument. The Gadget Show used to be okay but now it sucks. Except John he should have a spin off show where he just fiddles with cameras all day.
  7. I would welcome the extra competition, it seems over here there are only a couple of choices to go with when buying PC related items, generally the prices are a bit inflated (looking at you Overclockers UK). Scan does some pretty good deals now and then and as long as it's a relatively famous brand, Amazon is usually a good fall back. It'll be interesting that's for sure.
  8. Holy crap that carrier.. Surely we'd need like 100 ships to destroy it! (Imagine if it was just a squad of fighters v that thing.. MAN) You could destroy a small moon crashing that thing into it. Also any idea what the crew size would be on that thing? Boarding and taking it over would be a heck of a challenge if it's full of highly trained blood thirsty vanduul soldiers..
  9. Just joined SC, sending in my application now, hope you like it Engineers for me! (Even though I have a merc fighter atm I think..) Man I love space games, wish I had the balls to pledge earlier on.
  10. I would very slowly and calmly spend 5 minutes fumbling and unscrewing the DVI cable from the back of my PC, and then burn to death 2 minutes in. In all seriousness I would probably just jump out of the window..
  11. Light Fidelity YAAY!! This stuff is sweet. The light spectrum is way way larger than radio waves as well so this tech could do some neat stuff.
  12. I've owned this and despite the nice looking display is has a TERRIBLE wobbly stand. I have a Dell U2312HM and its great. I got it for £150. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005SNNCEA
  13. Okay so for those who are saying this is aimed at people who don't want to go to the trouble of learning what PC components are and just want the LEGO building experience, you could just buy a pre-built instead. If you buy a decent one then upgrading one part would be pointless (not to mention you almost can't go wrong these days) you may as well buy a new pre-built. I like the idea and I think they're clever in that once you've bought one of these you'll need to go back to Razer to get your upgrades but COME ON. EDIT: I revise my judgement after watching Linus video. It's a concept that I like, but it has a way to go I think, it brings that phonebloks thing to mind. I'm certainly skeptical, but I like that they're trying to push things to the limits.
  14. umm looks like a NUC? last I checked they weren't on par with xbox/ps4.. EDIT: Actually you could fit most things in an 8 inch space but it must get hotter than a george foreman grill in there.. EDIT2: That upside down glowy triangle thing looks awful.
