  1. Do you think we will be able to use our smartphone for all our processing needs in the nearby future? With products like Superbook and Samsung Dex in the market and Geekbench benchmarks of the iPhone 8/8+ getting about the same score as a 13" Macbook Pro it seems highly likely to me that it would be possible somewhere in the near future to use our smartphones for all our processing needs. Along with a external GPU and proper cooling, operating system and I/O solutions do you think it might be possible to play current gen games with good enough performance for more than casual gamers? Here's another interesting take on the topic by Austin Evans (But seriously.. can it run Crysis?)
  2. You've both helped a lot, I understood the concept now. Thank you
  3. Thank you very much for the quick reply. Would anyone be willing to clarify for me why a larger screen carrying the same pixels in a larger screen size needs more power? Is it to get to the same level of brightness?
  4. I'm wondering if screen size affects battery life or just it's resolution? The reason I'm wondering about it is that in my experience, even on Chroms OS, laptops with a bigger battery than my smartphone last about the same or less than it even with the same resolution(FHD).
  5. Can the iPhone 8+/X, using an external GPU(such as one of those that you featured), run Crysis?
  6. For anyone else looking for something similar, I found this phone which ticks all(or atleast most) of my must have boxes: Asus Zenfone 3s Max. I will probably get it.
  7. So I've been thinking hard about this and realized all the specifications for what I would describe as my dream smartphone. None of them are extremely ambitious except for one: battery-life. I'd love to return to the days of having a cellphone that would last all day even if I used it every chance I got only with today's smartphone capabilities. I'd love some suggestions for a smartphone that could apply to that or a suggestion for a way to make one DIY from parts that are purchasable online if it is possible. If you'd like to take a look, I also took the time to be very specific and write down what are the features I'd like in a smartphone and rated them by the following index: Must have - Green Would really want - Purple Appreciated but not necessary - Orange Not needed but could be nice - Red Obviously, it would be great if everything would be in it but only the green ones are a must. For reference, today I use the Samsung Galaxy S5(/w Lineage OS 14.1) and enjoying it, except for the battery-life.
  8. After uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers using a diffrent monitor to get the plug and play reset on the original monitor ive resolved the issue. Thanks for your help suggesting the monitor might be the issue after the shadowplay. happy holidays
  9. Thank you for your comment.Unfortunatly I do not have another monitor available in reach. All the other computers I have acces to are laptops and they do not belong to me. Secondly, I do not think it would be something that a diffrent monitor would be able to fix as I havent changed any settings on the monitor, the refresh rate or even the graphics card itself, and it seems to be just unrecognizeable as to what is the source of error, however I am now trying to reach out to more family members or friends that can loan me a monitor as to test your hypothesis. I would however welcome wholeheartidly any other hypothesis anyone have or someone who has been struggling with a similar issue that is now solved.
  10. Thank you for clicking on my thread. I was looking at the geforce experience when I decided to see and try the new features one of which is shadowplay, and upon clicking the button to turn on shadowplay my screen turned black, closed all of the media running or atleast the sound of it, and renewed after five seconds. As I was paniccing over the monitor I tapped the shadowplay on button one more time to turn it back off, and immediatly afterwards the display showed 'digital', 'analog' alternating boxes for a few seconds and finally the "check signal cable" error. I've tried turning my computer off and on a number of times, connect and disconnect the cables to my monitor and the gpu, connecting to the motherboard, and removing the gpu from my motherboard and connecting the cables directly to the motherboard's internal intel hd graphics but to no avail. Ive had the version before the latest on my driver and the following specs: Asus Gtx 750 ti oc 2gb gpu Intel i5-4460 3.2ghz cpu Gigabyte h87 -s2v motherboard Asus sound blaster soundcard an ssd and a hdd I would thank deeply for your comments if you have anything to ask or say that might contribute to helping me fix that issue, as of right now my whole computer is basically inoperable because of that issue and it is deeply frustrating.
