Really depends on what you are using the PC for - for gaming you won't really benefit from a 3900X over a 3700X. Do you have a use for those 12 cores?

Have you looked into the possibility of power-line networking? Worked great for me personally and I'd take it over WiFi again.

    I recommend this:

Don't bother with the 3900x, if you really wanted to you could upgrade next gen but for gaming it probably isn't worth it at the moment.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I really like the meshify case, Might go with that.
Also switching to the memory you linked.
also gonna try to get windforce 2080 like @ShinRamen mentioned.
should i go for higher clock speed on the memory? like 3400 or not worth?

Go for X570, don't need an NH-D15 for a 3700x, low TDP chip so that is an overspend.
Ryzen LOVES fast dual channel memory, get a 2x16GB kit of 3200MHz RAM or faster, CL16 or better.
PSU choice is fine, you could make due with 650W very comfortably if you wanted.
Personal opinion, change the case, 750D is big  and outdated, not great for airflow, and unless you need the extra expansion it is pointless, you your system will look tiny in that case. I recommend the Fractal Design Meshify C TG, or the Phanteks P400A, better cases all around.

If you want white PSU cables it would better to get the white RMx versus paying for the RM plus white extensions.

Everybody would have preferred a passive cooling solution instead of those fans, however we are stuck with them for now. Unless you get the one (very expensive) passively cooled Gigabyte board or the watercooled Asrock board. I wouldn't worry too much about the fan. If it's too big of a concern to you, go with the MSI B450 Max boards.

Which MSI 2080 Super are you getting? The Gigabyte Windforce OC (3-fan) is usually around the same price as the MSI Ventus OC, which only has 2 fans.

get 2x16. you'll be able to run it at higher speeds.

as for mobo, if you think you'l lever upgrade to a 12 or 16 core, go x570, any asus x570 will do.
if you stick to 8 cores, the tomahawk will be enough.

    550w are enough.

x570= better vrm (means lesser crashes and overall cooler pc), pci 4.0 (support newest m.2ssd's, will support gpu's that use pci e 4.0) better look. better audio, internet and ram.

msi b450 tomahawk max is a decent choice. asus prime x570 pro is pretty good for its price.

Adgj533 got a reaction from Versti in Need some help with RAM!
Hey guys I have 8gb of ram in my system and thinking about upgrading but I cant find the exact same model. so my question is if i buy the same Mhz and brand would that work?
    my system is as follows:
    4790k cpu, gtx970 gfx, WD 1 TB, windows 7, 750W psu, 1 network card, 1 sound card.
according to CPU-Z my memory is GSkill Part Number  F3-17000CL11 it also says Max Bandwidth is PC3-12800(800Mhz) but the ram sticks default clock speed is 2133 Mhz and I am running it that speed using XMP profile. I saw a few ram sticks similar to this one but i couldnt find the exact same one. So i was thinking to add 2 more sticks of new ram something like this:
    https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231654&cm_re=G.SKILL_F3-2133C10D-_-20-231-654-_-Product
    Would this work?
Any type of input is highly appreciated.

it set the ram to its rated memory settings by loading a profile off the ram, it doesn't overclock the CPU.

You have a good platform, i recommend this:
the same memory if you can afford it, otherwise 2 stick kit will do
    250gb ssd
    update bios to latest
    install windows into the ssd.

I successfully installed the graphic card gtx 970 gigabyte thanks to all of you, it was a little big for my case (i was suprised bc the card was super long) but i took out my sound card and network card then i was able to fit it inside and its running fine.

If I can remember right, the Asus design has a zero fan mode, that means, with applications that don´t or use the graphicscard a little, the fans won´t spin.
This is good for people who are browsing much or need to work on their pc´s.
The gigabyte has defenetly the better cooling, but you can hear it while it´s idling (not loud, but still...)
The windforce cooler (gigabyte) throws the heat to the sidepanel, I would recommend using a pc case like this http://ep.yimg.com/ay/directron/black-nzxt-m59-classic-series-atx-mid-tower-computer-case-m59-001bk-w-side-panel-window-and-120mm-led-fans-1.gif
with a fan on the sidepanel blowing the hot air out. But singlecard use in a case with bad airflow shouldn´t be that critical.
Many people like the Msi, a graphicscard with 2 big fans that can fit in most pc cases, it operates silent and is "cool" (I think it has the zero fan mode too)

All mainboards that aren´t older than 5 years should work without problems.
And yes, your cpu is fine! No need for overclock.
