As one of this forum's grumpy old men, it is my duty to point out that you young'uns don't know how easy you have it. When I was a lad, we had to make PCs out of coal and our own tears...

A lot of the complaints centred around aesthetics. Firstly that's optional. Secondly, if you do decide to pursue it will cost time and money, as it does with cars, clothes, houses and loads of other things.

Cable management is easier than ever. Look at old case reviews, cable management was an afterthought, or really old, it was non-existent (anyone else remember tucking IDE ribbon cables behind the motherboard?). Plus no more cables for optical drives, and for a quite a lot of us now, no cables for SSDs either. Faults occur less than in the past, things setup themselves. Overclocking and fine-tuning gives such tiny gains these days, it's entirely optional.

I will concede GPU price inflation, that has been brutal over the past 4 years. Other than that, I's say it's no harder than 10 years ago, and a lot easier than 20 years ago.

Delivery services suck the world over. I guess because it's so price focused.

If you think about all the fungal spores and bacterial clouds being released into the air from your dirty floor and assorted 'cleaning' implements, I'd say the razor is the least of your concerns. Clean up your mess and then buy a new razor & ball shaver.

Monkey Dust got a reaction from Lurking in Cybertruck owners won't be able to sell their car
Pedestrian safety regulation will prevent it being sold in many markets. Trucks will never be great for ped safety, but in Europe, and I also imagine markets like Japan, you at least have to try with no sharp edges and plastic bumpers.

Monkey Dust got a reaction from Lurking in Cybertruck owners won't be able to sell their car
Seems an odd move. It's common with limited run supercars, and I understand Ferrari do it with all their cars. But it's just a truck. It's far from the first EV truck to market, can demand really be that high?

Conspiracy hat on... Tesla have admitted it was harder to build than they thought. Maybe they know that it still has so many problems that many owners are going to have a dreadful experience, and by only letting them sell the car back to Tesla, they can slap an NDA on the former owner when they buy it back. Tesla are known for getting incredibly angry at any negative press, including trying to sue journalists and sacking their own employees.

Monkey Dust got a reaction from filpo in M3 Macbook Pro Reviews. 8GB of RAM on a $1600 laptop is criticised heavily
The big problem with 8GB of RAM is the use of the SSD for swap. The swap eats into the SSD lifetime writes, and when they are up, the SSD isn't replaceable...

But think of the product placement opportunities!

Obviously, some changes will need to be made. Linus will have to become American, and a lot taller. Luke will have to become a hot woman. Instead of reviewing tech, they'll have to review guns, this will lead to them being called up to defend America against the Swiss. Once the warmongering Swiss have been defeated, 6'3" Linus will bang female Luke in front of the American flag. There's your movie.

Monkey Dust got a reaction from Cloudhopper in Looking for Mechanical Bluetooth Keyboard 75% in ISO layout
Keychron are a solid choice for Macs as they have a switch for the Mac layout, so you can have the option and command keys the right way around. They also do the correct ISO Mac keycaps.

There sadly isn't much choice for us in ISO land, even less if you use Macs.

Monkey Dust reacted to Avocado Diaboli in How to justify 70 hours work weeks for $10k a year(pre tax)?
    To quote yourself:
To me it really sounds like you have some deep-seated issues over working in a field you don't really enjoy and think that's somehow getting devalued over some other people getting paid more. I mean, this is already evidenced by your complaint of having to pay more for meals at McDonalds, which, nota bene, nobody is forcing you to go to to get something to eat. If you can't afford it, that's on you, according to your doctrine.

Never mind that now we've veered off the whole "skilled labor" angle entirely. Because my job is also considered skilled, but again, I work in an air conditioned office hacking away at a keyboard most of the time and answering a few phone calls. Hardly as backbreaking as either of the things you're trying to compare. Yet you're here complaining about the working conditions you have to endure vis-à-vis a burger flipper, not an office worker. Why is that?

To me it really sounds like you've swallowed capitalist propaganda hook line and sinker and you're falling for one of their most powerful tactics: Rile up the plebs against each other so they don't focus on those actually bleeding them dry.

Id mutch rather have them delay the game, fix the performance issues, and then release it. I absolutely hate the way modern gaming works, „well fix it later“.
I know it’s a simulation game and my standards are not very high for this kinda game. Like I get why cities runs at 25fps, but if even the developer says that it’s bad…. I honestly am expecting a giant shitshow.
