Oh I just remembered a time when I had this friend who told us all he was rich and stuff and tried to convince me that he had this new GPU which was so big that he had to cut a Hole on the side (not the front mind you) to ensure it would fit. Also he could apparently play GTA San Andreas on like Super HD clarity (I'm Not Kidding) and everything was like super clear!!! This was back in 2008 something. He also tried to tell us that his system was custom outfitted with an Air Conditioning Unit, and when I asked how, he told it was custom made. God! We actually went to his house to see his system and the thing was a pre-built HP desktop which could not run Microsoft Flight Simulator X properly. We controlled our laughter so bad.

    Hey Guys,

I'm not that knowledgeable in respect to Hardware components but I can say atleast I have decent enough knowledge to help out my friends in buying some decent parts, I'm more knowledgeable in terms of Software and Networking, but since my friends don't really have the patience to actually go to tech forums like this and read reviews and stuff they all come to me for help, I always try and choose the best components according to the best of my knowledge and pick out the best components, they will all be like oh awesome bro and end up going to some retailer and buying cheap shit for an expensive amount! Really pisses me off. All listen to me blabber on for like an hour or so and then completely ignore everything! Thankfully my Dad is a proper tech savvy guy and knows his stuff. It's great coming on to forums like this and expanding your knowledge, I really learnt a lot here, more people should take the time to sit and go through these forums.

If you want to copy my own fan curve I just got my 980 Ti's late last month but this seems to be working good for me with +100 on memory and core.

Of course, but "can you game" is an incredibly relative question. You can play Half-Life on a NVIDIA 620. That doesn't make it good

But I fully agree, if you're doing specialized workstation optimized tasks, particularly things that will take advantage of ECC, 10-bit colour, double precision, etc, then a Quadro or Firepro makes more sense, and as you've said, you can still game on the side.

But a K2200 supporting 4x 4K displays has nothing to do with gaming in itself. It certainly has no chance in hell of driving 4x 4K displays in games. It might be able to do a single 4K display at low quality settings for gaming, but I wouldn't expect the experience to be good at all. 1080p gaming though? Sure, probably have very few issues.

Hardware wise professional and server GPUs aren't really any different. Quadros, FirePros, etc. could all theoretically game just as well as GeForce and Radeon GPUs, the difference is they use a different set of drivers that is not optimized for games and gaming APIs.

For anyone doing both a lot of pro and gaming work, you're better off getting just a gaming card. Gaming cards do really well in any applications that aren't partnered with Nvidia or AMD for professional applications (because in a lot of these applications, they artificially nerf the performance of any non-Quadro or non-Firepro type of cards).

I suggest you figure out what you will primarily be using the GPU for. If it's going to be a workstation for work most of the time then a Quadro will be perfect for it(compute tasks, VFX, Animation, Editing etc) and gaming is a just a casual hobby for in between breaks or an hour or two a day, it won't matter.
If you will be gaming most of the time and doing work related stuff less on your system buy a decent geforce card. Quadro only for work! Geforce for gaming! Also if you don't really require the ECC memory, 10bit color etc a geforce will still be quite awesome at VFX, Animation, editing, content creation etc. It will still be reliable and fast plus you can game. If you require extreme stability and precision that most proper work requires then Quadro all the way

It might work "just fine", but a $300 GPU would wreck the shit out of your K2200 in GTA 5, or any other game.

Depends on your exact usage. Could you please list all the programs you intend on using that will take advantage of your GPU? Will you need 10-bit colour? Will you need ECC memory? Will you need Double Precision Floating Point calculations?

A Titan Black might be better than a Titan X, depending on your exact scenario.

I have used a xeon/k2000 workstation, and while it wasn't amazing for gaming, it certainly wasn't crap. Didn't stop to check framerate, but unreal tournament (2011, maybe?) was definately playable I would say 45-60 range. This was on 1920x1200, by the way.

Haha yeah I was going to say, you can get the same performance with a $300 GeForce GPU - The K4000 is around $800 USD after all

A 980 Ti would do fine for content creation. Unless you're planning to sell the quadro, i'd try and advise you to keep it.

Furthermore, i would recommend ASUS coolers for a 980Ti, because i've seen them performing quite well. EVGA Isn't that bad either, but availability is indeed the problem.

For ram, corsair is most used, avexir is an upcoming name, and G.Skill also is very nice.

    Hope it helped! =)

Go for a 5820K or 5960X. 5930K only has more PCI lanes than the 5820K which you won't benefit from seeing you only have one GPU.

For case, Phanteks Pro or Luxe is awesome. NZXT Noctis 450 or H440 are also good.

I would recommend putting some aftermarket fans on that H110. That or get a Kraken X61, better stock fans.

5820k like other people said, it jut has morempciemlanes which aren't needed unless you do 3-way slim or 4-way but no one does more then 2-way because it can be unstable and not worth it at that point. Overclock a 5820k past the 5930k and it'll be faster and better.Gigabyte and MSI are good brands.
    I'd choose G.skill over corsair

5820K still has ample lanes for 2 cards. And I don't recommend more than 2 anyway.

Asus, Gigabyte, MSI or Evga ( also XFX I would include ) are all good brands. Depends what you can get there. Look at specs of each card in the offer and cooling solution used and decide. Stay on this path and don't buy lesser knows marks. I am not saying they aren't good or you wont get good card but there brands are knows to be reliable. Memory is not that important but take any well known brand just to be on safe side. Price is more or less the same. As for PSU go for Seasonic. Never save money on PSU.

For the GPU you can never go wrong with either ASUS or MSI.

The Corsair 750D is a pretty good case, but get much more for you money if you go for the Phanteks Enthoo Pro/Luxe (same interior, luxe only has some exterior aesthetic changes such as LEDS)

For RAM, any brand will do realy. But if you cant decide go for Corsair, G.skill or Crucial. Those are the most used brands. Make sure its DDR4!! DDR3 is not compatible on x99.

The PSU you picked is ok, but i would still recommend something like an EVGA SuperNova G2 850watt or the Corsair AX860i. Rocksolid power, and some good overclocking headroom.

Get a 5820k and overclock it.
For the GPU I like to go towards EVGA.
For ram I like ?Kingston, is cheaper then most brands and looks good. Also offers some quality.
    Looks good though.

Lol, I laughed pretty bad at this. I'm from India and trust me, we don't like our own Tech Support call centers. It's not that people here are idiots it's just that call centers hire such people to work long hours to get less pay for which they are satisfied with.... Not all of them are bad though, some of the tech support people are quite skilled but they are a small margin of the overall no. of people.
