  1. Hey y'all, So my dad is cleaning up his place and is thinking of scrapping his old PC. Iirc had DOS and Windows (3.0 or 3.1) running on it. I decided to come here, cause why not. I'm probably gonna get flamed for not posting pictures or specs on the machine, but I'll do it if people are really interested (specs are gonna be tricky cause I'm not sure how to get it on an old machine and don't want to open it up). Please let me know your thoughts about it as he's thinking of throwing it out tomorrow (I'm in EST if that matters to people).
  2. This is super cool!!!! If I were to get this I would use it in my basement and expand my small man cave. I've been watching a lot of setup videos and I'm having ideas, just short on $$$.
  3. Currently my place has a bunch of coxial lines installed and no ethernet lines, so that's why I was thinking of it in the first place. As you both said, powerline kinda does the job, like it will work but most of the times its really slow and nothing near to the speed I'm receiving on my 5ghz band. That's why I was thinking of using MoCA to solve this issue, but due to cost and installation of filters, then I'll probably re-invest in another powerline adapter.
  4. Problem: So I have my router upstairs and my internet connection is poor on my main floor. I have tried a Dlink Powerline (DHP-541) Kit and that gives me good signal in the basement but not in the first floor. Question: I heard about MoCA devices, which use coxial lines to send the internet. Can someone give me their opinion on MoCA devices? Also is it worth to go for one of these or should I try another powerline kit? I will be super excited if one of LTT members makes an overview+review video on MoCA devices and compare it to existing solutions! Thank You, 4321Rocket
  5. I downloaded and installed Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra 14 and the issue went away. Therefore, like I said, it was a software issue; don't trust WinDVD Pro 11
  6. Ya so I installed a trial version of Cyberlink DVD Ultra 14 and the problem disappeared. Therefore as I stated, it was a software issue. Problem resolved; don't use WinDVD Pro 11,
  7. Hm.. so if that's normal then I guess I can ignore it. The main issue is the audio just continuously dropping out regardless of the sound track being played with WinDVD Pro 11 trial. The funny thing is that it works fine with youtube videos and my blu ray player. I'm going to try plugging it in directly to the tv and see if I still have issues.
  8. OS: Windows 10 CPU: Intel i5 4430 (HD 4600 Graphics) Mobo: Asus Z97-P GPU: Using integrated Optical Drive: Asus BD Combo Drive (no writing capabilities) So I have tried it with a 9ft and 12ft (or even longer) HDMI cable and I'm still having the issue. Also the audio track that I was testing was in fact Dolby Digital (not True HD). I just played the previews on the Bluray Disc and they were encoded with Dolby Digital and those are still giving me issues.
  9. I'm currently trying my blu ray player and I just watched a video off youtube without any hiccups so I'm pretty confident its a software related issue. I've tried VLC with other files and it works. VLC however can't play physical bluray discs, which is the main issue. I'll update this post when I purchase or move on to cyberlink powerdvd 16 (which looks like an april 2016 release),
  10. Hi, So I built an HTPC and I'm noticing audio dropouts. I'm using a trial version of WinDVD Pro and I'm noticing the audio continuously dropping out. Initially I thought it was due to the DTS HD audio codec, but then I'm experiencing the problem when I run dolby digital videos. I set the amp to pass the audio to my TV and noticed that its dropping there as well. Funny thing is I'm experiencing a dropout at the same time of the menu of Lilo and Stitch. Please help me solve this issue. I've checked the manual and I did the steps that they said and it hasn't helped out. I really want to get this issue solved and so far am leaning towards the trial software being the culprit as I don't experience any audio dropout with other content (e.g gaming, youtube) Thanks, 4321Rocket
  11. Hm.. I just realized that its always hicups regardless of the sound track being played. Right now I have Dolby Digital playing and every 5 - 10 seconds it hicups. I'm going to revisit the manual to verify what to do and see if it might help.
  12. Ok did that and still getting the issue >_>
  13. Ok so regarding that. The only driver I need is the graphics one by intel right? (My htpc rig only has i5 4430 with intel hd4600 graphics). I'm pretty sure I didn't install them initially but windows must have installed it. When I go to Intel's site and grab the latest driver, it apparently says the one windows download is more up to date. Should I have intel's drivers overwrite the windows installed drivers?
  14. https://www.pioneerelectronics.ca/StaticFiles/Manuals/Home/VSX-1326-K_OperatingInstructions051911.pdf That's the link to my manual. I checked on page 81 and I've done the steps they said to solve the issue and its still giving me issues.
