  1. as other people have stated idle temps arent really the issue its the load temps. you need to see the load temps by playing the games or programs that you normally use and also use a synthetic tester like AIDA64 and IntelBurnTest dont use Prime95 as i have heard that it adds extra volts to the haswell chips which adds even more heat to the cpu
  2. check out www.coolingconfigurator.com to see if it is a reference PCB if it is reference then most 290x blocks will fit it then
  3. if the water was hot enough to warp the tube then i think you have a problem as you might need more radiator space or a better pump
  4. its like comparing the xbone to pc for gaming
  5. the LGA 2011 chips do NOT come with any cooler of any sort back on topic @EllieTheFuzzy it all depends on how much the stock cooler costs compared to aftermarket coolers on the market in your area
  6. it all depends on the monitor you are using. if you are only using a single 1080p monitor the a R9 290 will be great for years to come. if you are looking at a higher resolution then the R9 290 will start to shine even more then at 1080p. i personally have a R9 290 and i can run every game on ultra with 100+fps to answer your question between the R9 270x vs GTX 770 vs R9 290 i would choose the R9 290 if you can afford it as it will last alot longer then the other 2 cards
  7. its wasnt the FX-8350 it was the older FX-8150
  8. its a seagate 1tb hdd
  9. what you need to do is allocate the space as of right now you need to create a partition as at the moment it is unallocated
  10. if the CPU is bottlenecking the GPU then all he needs to do is overclock it. i have a R9 290 and im running a FX 6300 at 4.5Ghz and i get around the 100-130fps in bf4 on ultra and even on siege it doesnt drop below 85fps so there is an issue with your system. try overclocking the cpu to see if that will cause it. another thing is that while you are recording you are using the CPU and GPU so you will take a hit in frames as it is using them both but i dont think it should be that much. also as alot of people have said that the PCI-e is going to be the issue well its not as im running mine at 16x 2.0 and i dont get those issues
  11. if you will only be doing a CPU loop there wont be much of a difference but once you add more blocks that is where the D5 pump will start to shine over the X20 750. as @Bagmup said that with just the CPU loop the temp difference wont me noticeable but the reliability its gonna be one of the longest running part in your system.
  12. the AMD reference R9 295X2 comes with the closed loop cooler
  13. it all depends on what hardware you are using and want to watercool
  14. are you using the stock fans on the 212 as i know its a beast of a cooler it shouldnt be that warm also check the orientation of the fans for the fan on that make sure they are pointing towards the exhaust so it helps
  15. 97f is only 34c which is normal australian weather and i know how warm things get. you need to add more air circulation in the case and also the room that the computer is in as well to help cool the system
  16. i think you mean 97f not 97c as at 50c you would not survive that heat. the HDD dont give off that much heat as most people think. and to answer your question about the fans i would try to set fans in all possible locations for example. put 2 fan on the roof and also put one in the bottom to get more air circulating around the case
  17. thats been the happy meal box in aus for quite some time
  18. after looking at the pics the gpu looks like there isnt enough thermal paste. i have that gpu and that block and the best pattern is the star pattern that is shown on the installation guide. my temps are no where near your temps. even during the australian summer i never get over 55c
  19. the R9 270 is the same as the old HD7870 just slightly overclocked. i had the 7870 running most games at 1080p on high/ultra on most if not all games and keeping above 60 fps
  20. you can run 2x R9 290x in 16x so that system is a great deal but i dont know they currency difference. if you are gonna run at 1440p then grab another one of those cards but you will need a bigger power supply as 600w is NOT enough for 2 of them i would suggest atleast a 850w to make sure you have enough headroom
  21. 9/10. decent air cooled system. sorry im a water person all the way now CPU: FX-6300/OC=4500Mhz MOBO: ASUS Sabertooth 990fx R2.0 RAM: G.Skill 16GB 1600Mhz 10-10-10-30, GPU: Sapphire R9 290 SSD: Samsung 840 250GB HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB x2, Cooling: EK supremecy LTX,EK-FC R9 290X with backplate, XSPC EX240 Crossflow & Alphacool UT60 240mm, XSPC D5 Bayres w/ Alphacool VPP655, 7/16-5/8 Compressions/Tubing, Noctua NF-F12 x4 PSU: Silverstone Strider Plus 850W Case: Nanoxia Deep Silence 1
