Those clock speeds are a bit of a letdown. I know it's an engineering sample though, so I'm still going to wait and see.

However I'm more interested in TR 12nm is going to bring to the table, as I'm planning a high end HEDT build later on in the year.

ElZamo92 reacted to Mira Yurizaki in What can you connect to GPIO?
GPIO, as the name implies, is an input or output line. It can only have two states: on or off (for the electrically inclined, it's usually 0V to 3.3V or 5V). If configured as an output, the software running on the CPU has to tell it when to toggle it on or off. If configured as an input line, the software running on the CPU has to check it. In other words, it's a software controlled I/O line.

This is opposed to say a hardware UART, or a serial data interface. The most software does with it is configure the parameters and feed it data. The hardware in the UART will take care of transmitting the data or receiving the data (the software still has to read the data though).

You can connect anything to a GPIO line as long as you're aware of the following:
You have enough GPIO lines the interface needs (SATA needs at least 5 lines) The GPIO lines can output or receive the correct voltage level. You understand the protocol of the interface The software can run fast enough to "bit bang" the signal. For more info on bit banging, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bit_banging But really, you should only use GPIO lines for simple I/O devices like LED lights or switches. You might be able to use them as a low speed UART/SPI/I2C bus, but if your CPU is too slow, then it won't work.

ElZamo92 reacted to captain_to_fire in USB Type C connection - Why does anyone like this?
It looks like you got a defective unit. If it's still under warranty, return it and ask for a replacement. I know a lot of Android phones using USB type C and they like it and never had any problems like the ones you mentioned above.

Also, with USB C it is reversible so you don't have to worry about proper orientation and there much lesser risk of breaking the connector than micro type B.

So in other words, a blank window that does nothing beside run ARM standard CPU instructions and called it "Switch emulator" to try and get media attention.
How about making something more meaningful beside one of the many ARM-CPU based emulator?
When they'll get a game running to some OK level, NOW we will be talking, and now you can claim "Switch emulator".

Me too, I can show you the full source code of a emulator for Nintendo next 5 generations of consoles in the future from now:
int main() { while (1) { sleep(100); } return 1; } I know I am amazing.. it doesn't do anything yet.. but it is open source, so it will eventually do something. But for now, enjoy the black window.

But im just speculating at this point, who knows what they will be up to next time they touch server hardware. And the Editor CPU and pc upgrade is due soon isnt it, or is it in another year or two?

I don’t really like the RGB rainbow effect, but the fact that I can chose one of 16.5 million colours is great, and when I’m tired of looking at a shining PC I can turn them off. I wouldn’t buy a component that   has an LED that wasn’t colour matched with my PC but it would be different if that LED was RGB.

And  thought that paying $130 usd (with shipping from the US to Australia) for 2x8GB @ 2800MHz was expensive as hell since a 4x4GB kit of DDR3 cost me about $90 usd in 2014. I don’t care who, but someone has to fix this somehow.

NOTE, GAME IS IN CLOSED BETA AS OF THE TIME OF WRITING
*RING RING* Hello, this is EA speaking, we have a great announcement for UFC 3, we're implementing more bullshit microtransactions into our multiplayer mode!

The story is coming in from https://www.astutegaming.com/single-post/EASPORTSUFC3BETA and it appears EA doesn't like to listen to its fans and swung back with a bullshit microtransaction system which borders onto egregious levels of shit. They're adding more microtransactions into their video games which is getting pretty fucking boring right now.

Anyone surprised? Anyone think EA will listen?

Oh here's a quote I robbed from @Zando Bob "EA just needs to make a gaming casino"

When I had just installed a shiny new GTX 1070 in my PC I began to have a lot of problems with games crashing and blue screens. I ha this problem for weeks, asking here on the forum,  and looking for similar problems in google, but I found nothing. Then, when I got fed up with it and decided to RMA the card, I discovered that the eight pin VGA connector wasn't plugged all the way into the card. I  felt like the biggest idiot in the history of man kind.

ElZamo92 reacted to .Ocean in Why are there plenty of RAM out of stock?
I'm not necessarily sure this is true. I don't think it would make much sense for Apple to hoard tons of flash because it becomes outdated so quickly. If they purchased large amounts before production took a hit then they would have stock piles of DDR3 which is not being used in modern smartphones and computers. DDR4 is the standard now and DDR4 prices are also inflated and that is being made brand new now and couldn't have been hoarded. The idea of artificial scarcity being created by companies buying far more than they need does not really make all that much sense. And even if that was the case this would be a huge business opportunity for companies with these stockpiles. If they had them they could sell all the NAND flash they aren't using to companies that want it and make a quick buck but evidently they aren't doing that.

The majority of the problem is a shard decrease in supply due to the fire that took place a while ago, and demand continuing to grow.
