  1. I can still get replacement GBA-SP batteries, thats about the oldest video game hardware I can recall with a rechargeable battery. My problem with the PS5s rechargeable battery isn't the fact that I can't swap it out. Its that the battery life is incredibly poor. With haptics and adaptive triggers disabled it barely gets through an 8 hour nolife gaming session. My xbox elite controller lasts much longer. That said, forget the batteries. The killer for controllers is stick drift for longevity, especially as these consoles go from current to vintage. Normalize easily repairable control sticks.
  2. If you have an AVR, most have an option for virtual surround speakers where you have the surrounds in front. Not the ideal placement but sure will be better than having ceiling mounted speakers that are playing sound that should be behind/to the side of you.
  3. ARC won't matter for that desired setup, ARC is if you have your inputs to your TV then you use your ARC input on your TV to feed sound back to your AVR. Do note that ARC only supports 5.1 compressed. Anything beyond will demand an e-ARC setup. HDMI 2.1 supports e-ARC. If you are gaming the Yamaha RX-AxA line supports VRR and ALLM through firmware update. You have to set the inputs to 8k mode through the HDMI options though. Then it'll trigger the game mode on supported TVs.
  4. Geek Squad certified refurbished inspection:
  5. All I needed to know it was a meth mobile. Warranty companies and tires/wheel issues are a nightmare.
  6. Yamaha RX-A4A... a bit too big for my entertainment center.
  7. On your own? Youtube has some great channels. As a profession? Do something else.
  8. Its just an arms race between OEMs at this point. Doesn't help that NHTSA now ranks headlights for top safety pick+.
  9. Impressive. We just got info on the rod bearing recall... ugh. 1.2 to disassemble and submit pics, then 1.8 to replace rod bearings. Fortunately due to some insider info we don't have that many Honda rigs in our area with them. Its mostly Acuras and we can't do Acura recalls. So imagine dropping that rusty ass exhaust for 1.2.
  10. Were they the ones that go to the TWC or to the rear cat? I've seen some bad ones... most the time if they go to the rear cat they get cut and I press in new studs.
  11. Likely back in the day. Now days the early to late 10s OEM headunits are crazy expensive due to them using ancient chips. During the chip shortage they skyrocketed or even went unavailable.
  12. I haven't personally had geforce experience installed for a few years. Don't really ever touch nvidia control panel other than to adjust monitor settings. Most the games I play have a fairly functioning graphics option menu.
  13. First time taking off the plates on a PS5... only yeeted it 5 feet.
  14. WoW mostly as my main game while playing some single player games in between. Finished FF7 Remake and waiting on Rebirth next week. Probably gonna finish Ghosts of Tsushima soon.
  15. I switched to razer because ghub is awful. Still love my g502, but since getting rid of ghub I no longer have issues connecting after a restart because ghub is just sitting in the background hogging resources trying to load. Anyway... The black widow was one of the original mass produced gaming oriented mechanical keyboards with cherry mx switches. I believe it came out in 2009. I know because suddenly everyone in my raid group started clackin while talking around that time. Naga came out way before the G600. The G600 was a response to pretty much every MMO player using a Naga. I think the Naga came out in 2009/10.
  16. Be blessed, we still fend them off. We don't work on them at all anymore. The customers are the worst, and the rigs are pretty much rust buckets everywhere but where it leaks oil on.
  17. Hopefully all the Rodeos / first gen Passports rotted away over there. Timing those are fun. Non interference so its not a big deal to screw it up, but theres a damn service bulletin explaining how to time those things.
  18. Most people I talk to that work on cars enjoy taking things apart, but hate putting them back together. Its the opposite for me. I can't stand taking stuff apart. Putting them together is satisfying and easy to me. Perhaps it was all the Lego building back in the day lol. That CRV hybrid was a pain in the ass to pull apart, but went together smooth other than timing. Timing threw me for a loop because where you lock the cams is about 6 degrees off from the timing marks on the cams. So looks about a tooth off on the crank.
  19. After the 3.6 injector job I did, I wont touch another GM GDI job. Burn whoever designed that crap at the stake. Easily one of the worst jobs I've done.
  20. Better ban USB cables too, that will deter Kia/Hyundai thefts.
  21. I'm up to 3 drivers and one stubby but physically only own 2. Left one of my original run drivers in a customers car at work. Mostly bummed because it was gonna be my long term heavy usage review driver. So my home driver is going to work, and got a retro one for home.
  22. United radio takes in cores of Honda radios. When we get one it has a return label in the box for them. You might be able to contact them and see what they can do.
