  1. I need a new PSU for SLI, but then I'd have to water cool them :(.
  2. I got the temps to around 60*C on the standard prime 95 with the case fans up at 12V. Shame though my I7-2600K hits 4.5GHz @ 1.35V with a inferior CPU cooler and barely hits 70*C on max Prime 95.
  3. So I decided to run prime 95 at stock speeds with the dark knight II cooler inside the NZXT 630 case. It hit 80*C, so I took it apart and reapplied thermal paste and such and it still hit 80*C. Kinda disappointing to be honest, I want to see if I could hit 4.5GHz. I think auto voltage is hurting it, it hits 1.25V on full load. EDIT: Just ran it again after reseting all of the settings in the bios, it's hitting 1.16V with about 68*C on the second hottest core. But I also run the HEAVY test that tests heat and power consumption EDIT 2: Even Aida64 I still hit 70*C @ stock. EDIT 3: Interesting note, medium-low load I get amazing temps. Doing mass installations using about 40% of my CPU power it's around 39-41*C
  4. My HD 7950 at stock CANNOT handle Metro 2033 on max settings. With MAX AA/AF it hits 30 fps in some area's, is this normal?
  5. I know :(, I may get an HD 9970 on release as they claim 20% above a GTX 780.
  6. So I am on the PC I build for a friend. How can I bring myself to part ways with 2 GTX 780's and go back to my single HD 7950 Vapor-X???

  8. He said he really didn't care at all. I might try and clean it up a little better. He's not like us :( No, he's not running this year, he's in the Lucas Oil Late Model Series this year. He grew up on dirt, diving into Arca a few years ago and last year got into Nascar. He's trying to get back into it next year. He's 3rd in the Late Model Series.
  9. I am no longer here to help people anymore. As my posted said my post count will be reduced.
  10. So finally the build log for this build. This is for my good buddy John Blankenship. He's a techie but lazy and figured since this is my passion have me do it lol. So here are the specs: I7-4770K Xigmatek Dark knight II CPU Cooler MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming Mobo Gskill Sniper 4x8GB DDR3 1600MHz Ram 2x Asus GTX 780 Direct CU II OC's 512GB Samsung 840 Pro 256GB Samsung 840 Pro NZXT 630 Matte Black XFX 850W 80+ Gold PSU Samsung DVD-RW Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit The explanation is this. John is a long time friend of mine who I PVP with in wow and raid with as well. He's taken good care of me always inviting me out to races when he's local entertaining me and my friends in his private RV. Granted they are also his friends as well, I opted to do this for free of charge, since he had the parts shipped to me. He has a LARGE MAC server with a TON of storage space. He has 200TB filled of movies and such, my guess is, it's multiple servers tbh. He wanted just an SSD for windows+games (512GB) and an SSD for Linux+Programming. I didn't go AIO because I don't feel comfortable for someone who needs a reliable PC. I will be shipping it to him, and with the H100I having an over 5% failure rate I didn't like it. He won't be overclocking for awhile, but if the fan fails on the Xigmatek cooler, it will survive due to the rear/top exhaust fan pulling. There was no reason in getting a HIGH end board as the features on this board already surpass what he needs, but he liked the Killer E2200 NIC and 7.1 audio. We went 2 way GTX 780's because he games at 1440/1600p I believe and he likes MAX settings, meaning x/8 x16 AA/AF, and for games like Last Light and newer games, you need 2 780's. Lastly, I didn't get an extreme CPU because frankly, I have little experience with how they react and perform. Plus they are not better gamers and are 130W vs 84W CPU's. But the true reason for this build was he was tired of hearing how awesome my PC was and he stated, "I want something that will kick your PC's ass in every way. I want EVERYTHING to be better." So he wanted 32GB of ram since I have 16GB, and my specs are as followed: I7-2600K @ 4.5GHz CM Hyper 212 MSI Z77 Mpower 4x4GB Corsair Vengeance (Black) 1600MHz C9 Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X 128GB Samsung 840 Pro 750GB OEM 7200RPM HD CM HAF 932 Blue Edition CM GX 650 80+ Bronze Samsung DVD-RW (Yes we tied here) So without further ado here it is!!! Boxes just arrived except the case Everything on my bed except the case My GPU (Radeon HD 7950 Vapor-X) compared to one of his (Asus GTX 780 Direct CU II OC), makes me want one rly bad :( MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming Motherboard w/ CPU installed rubber attachments for the CPU cooler, never seen this before. They slide in between the fins and then onto the fan. CPU fan attached for like the 15th time, installed the ram as well Just over 2 inches behind the motherboard tray, enough for 2 24 pins on width!! Naked Case Rear mounting tool less 3.5inch bays. I've never seen this before, they slide in from the back Screws galore, I like how they separated everything. Mobo mounted inside as I also mounted the PSU. Front I/O done for the first time SSD's!!! I ended up having to space them in the 1st and 4th slot to make it work the best. First GPU in!! Second GPU in!! Believe it or not, this was my SECOND attempt at rewiring the back Back together a SECOND time, made sure it posted and booted to Bios before I took it apart Forgot SLI Bridge, blurry as heck tho!! Side Shot Front Shot Top Shot Thanks for your time everyone!!!
  11. It got up to 1058MHz Core Clock on GPU Boost 2.0
  12. It easily weighs TWICE what my HD 7950 Vapor-X does.
  13. It was due tomorrow, it only left CA Saturday. BTW the Asus GTX 780 Direct CU II weighs over 4lbs...
  14. Weighs ALOT!!! 4.5lbs by my estimate.
  15. Yeppers I budgeted it correctly. My specialty isn't cheap builds, it's how to budget correctly xD.
  16. So I posted a whole 5 posts yesterday compared to my 40-50/day. So I have lived up to my word. Anyhow, I found this on my doorstep today.
