Alright, + I just noticed that the lock mechanism on the heatsinks has spring on them, so they simply will get pushed back by the needed amount.

Not really, power efficiency just means it will just use less power for the same amount of performance. If they were the same performance, higher power efficiency would mean Skylake was using less power, but they're not the same performance.

In most games, you won't see any huge differences between the 2. Main difference will come from clock speeds.
You would see improvement on multi-tasking though. Like, watching a Twitch stream while gaming.

GTA V doesn't exactly use more than 4 cores all that well. It requires more of a strong single core performance across 4-6 cores.

There is SOME games where the difference can be big, but they are rare.

Don't waste your money on getting 8350.
If you need more space for multi-tasking, get a used 6350 or 6300 and overclock it if your motherboard and cooler is up to it.

yeah, thats why you should save up and eventually switch
if you buy a 8350 you will be out $150 that you could have saved
you only need $200-300 to switch to intel, a lot of people sell used i5s/i7s for cheap that perform far better than a 8350

There will be a small bottleneck, depending of application.
Nothing huge. My friend is running Phenom II X4 945 with GTX 970 lol.

Look for used GTX 660/660Ti/760/670/Radeon HD7970. You can for sure find them for around your price range. GPUs are 2nd or 3rd most durable part of a pc and rarely have gone bad from regular usage.

None of the gpus found in your links is worth buying.

I own GTX970 as well and can get comfortable +220Mhz core/200 memory at the least, but R9 390 just is faster in majority of things. There are times when 970 is faster or equal, but still R9 390 is most of the time the more powerful one.

Pretty much every benchmark shows them at best near equal, with R9 390 pulling ahead by anything between 5%(DX11) to 50% (DX12).

And needs better PSU. Otherwise fine.

I wouldn't really count modded Skyrim in there. Not only is it already an old game, but mods are usually not all that well optimized in terms of memory usage.

    Actually he does.

    R7 370 with 4Gb is just as bad mismatch as R9 380 with 2Gb.
R7 370 doesn't have enough performance to properly run stuff which takes over 2Gb
R9 380 has too much performance for it to run 2Gb. Will be hitting the VRAM limits with it. Same goes for GTX 960.

That 0.5Gb of slower VRAM has never been a problem to me with my MSI Gaming 4G GTX 970.
    So you will be fine.

People hugely like to over-exaggerate the effect of that slower partition of the VRAM.

As said, hold your upgrade until Intel's Kaby Lake and AMD's Zen desktop cpus come to the market.
I myself am probably jumping from FX-8350 to i5 6600k soon since I might be able to get 6600k with 16Gb DDR4 kit for very cheap price.

The whole 0.5Gb memory segmentation is just highly over-exaggerated in how it affects stuff.

    In reality it does nothing.
